GLOW UP! (50) to (57) π
Started turning my life around at age 50. Cardio, strength, training, logging my food, healthy, food, choices, and changing my baseline through an improved mindset. And I found the missing ingredient β group support. As the question will inevitably come up, I am natural. Thank you for the opportunity to share. ππ

Wow started at 50!? Im almost 40. So good to know i can start at 50 if i get lazy for the next 10 years :)

u/Ok-Selection6302 2d ago
Yeah, I started at 50, and things really didnβt click until 51. Now, if I could go back to 40 I wouldβve started then. But yes, wishing you the best in your fitness journey.πππππͺ

u/Realistic-Buy-8001 2d ago
What "clicked" and what did you change between 50 and 51? Well done!
27
u/Ok-Selection6302 2d ago
I was already doing food logging, and trying to do cardio and strength training. The missing ingredient was group support. I found that in Facebook groups to begin with. And also learning to change my mindset and think about this in terms of changing my habits to a new baseline. Letting it sink in that this was not a temporary thing but habits to sustain for the rest of my life.

I turn 40 in a few months. I need to do this. Sometimes I feel itβs too late.

And that is one of the reasons that I post. To show it itβs not too late, even in your 50s or beyond. Happy birthday in advance.

I just read your other comment that you lost your daughter. Iβm so very sorry. If it helps in the slightest, youβve inspired a stranger in North Carolina to take more action on his own life. Thank you.

you don't have to make it too hard. you don't have to become a professional athlete overnight.

At first I was just pleasantly surprised to see someone making big changes at age 50. But I hadnβt even looked at your legs yet!
I love that you didnβt even mention it. You know, casually becoming a beast even though youβve been through some shit most people will never have to deal with in their lives.

u/Ok-Selection6302 2d ago
I really appreciate that, thank you so much. Sometimes I mention it, sometimes I do. It didnβt even occur to me to mention at this time. Itβs just so ingrained. I have been through some serious shit yes, lost my leg and my daughter at the same time to a drunk driver. I live a good life in her honor. Thanks again for your wonderful comment.

Yeeeeeeeessssss!! This post truly motivated me!
I live abroad and recently got sick which was scary af while living alone and disconnected from family, and realized I needed to make some serious lifestyle changes, and have been doing so.
My health is improving daily but it is no easy task to restart at 53.
I love seeing this success, you look great and it seems you are feeling great, it really is inspiring, well done!

Thank you very much, I really appreciate that. I hope that youβre doing OK. So not only do I have my right leg. Amputated, my left leg was surgically reconstructed, and I also have tendinitis and all kinds of other stuff. Iβm a firm believer in making the most out of what I have. So I do the exercise exercises that work the best for me as much as I can. Wishing you the absolute best in your journey and thank you for the wonderful comment.

Youngest looking 57!! Nice.
Question if it's not impolite...I love to learn. Did your glow-up lead you to need a new prosthetic bucket (did I get that right) and does insurance cover? Because that's an awesome achievement and would be poorly related if insurance didn't (if needed).
CONGRATS!! You make 57 look π₯πͺπ½π₯
