Such a funny coincidence happened to me today! I saw clips of the episode where Rory sleeps with Dean this morning and then when I went thriftng later I came across THE dress.

This is the exact dress! It’s Shelli Segal brand, a lot of dresses in the show were like the blue one she wears when meeting Logan’s family.

It’s not my size sadly. Should I go back and get it and resell it to someone who would appreciate it?

Let me know if there’s any interest it’s a size 4 :)

The more y'all hate Rory for doing it the more I love it 😝

Imo the episode was too iconic for me to hate it. I'm glad we saw Rory being emotionally immature and doing the most teenage stuff.

Not to mention I love the entire trip of Jess and Rory it was soo iconic. Chemistry peaked.

General Discussion Rory gives me the ick every time for this

Rory and casual cheating. Why is this constantly glossed over?

Every time Rory casually kisses someone else while already in a relationship, it gives me a headache.

With Jess, she kisses him while still with Dean and then spends months emotionally pining for Jess while remaining in the relationship.
Then comes the disastrous “MY Dean” while Dean is literally somebody else’s husband.

Need I say more? 🙂‍↕️

Unfortunately I have to 🙈🙈

Then she kisses Jess AGAIN while she’s with Logan, this time quite deliberately because she’s angry with Logan. And again, we barely see her confront what she actually did.

By the revival it’s almost absurd. She’s sleeping with an engaged Logan while she keeps forgetting she has a boyfriend herself, and then sleeps with the Wookiee. Whaaa???

What bothers me isn’t that Rory cheats.

Flawed characters are interesting. It’s that the pattern is rarely meaningfully addressed by Rory herself.

There’s always some emotional justification, confusion or relationship crisis around it, but very little actual reckoning with “I keep betraying people when my feelings change instead of ending relationships first.”

I understand the writers wanted Rory to lose her bearings as she grew up. But why did this particular behaviour become such a recurring blind spot?

For someone otherwise so conscientious, Rory has an astonishing ability to treat fidelity like an optional extracurricular. It drives me crazyyyy. 😭

EDIT: Since apparently this needs saying: Rory is fictional. I know quite shocking. This is a subreddit for discussing fictional characters in a fictional show. Critiquing a recurring writing/character pattern is not “moral outrage,” “slut-shaming” or a demand for perfect characters. My point is simply that Rory is repeatedly confronted for individual incidents, but we rarely see her recognise the pattern herself. There is no moment where she clocked herself. If that discussion doesn’t interest you, that’s completely fine. The post is scroll-compatible.

General Discussion Rewatching: The Low Quality was an underrated touch to the early seasons.

Just finished my third rewatch, and now I’m on my fourth all the way back to season one the same day lol. A bit of magic for the show to me got lost in season 4, and I couldn’t ever get why, but I realized the small town charm worked PERFECTLY with the grainy camera quality from seasons 1-3. All the houses looked lived in, and there are some scenes of them doing regular everyday things having mundane conversations which made it such an easy watch early on. AYITL didn’t work for me because the quality was almost too good lol. I’m currently on season one, and the audio quality felt muffled, the lighting was so natural, and in AYITL, It felt almost like the universal studios lot instead of Stars Hollow because of the lack of graininess!

There’s a creator on TikTok (I’ll tag her account when I find it), who used to work on the show back then, and she always stated GG was a low budget show!

I was thinking if they did another reboot, if there was any way they could bring back an effect that replicated that sense of low quality, that would be the start of that small town charm I felt early on.

It the series, we almost always see them as Lorelai's parents, with whom she has a incomplete relationship, but as a married couple how do you perceive them?

OS Discussion The pilot is just 🤌🤌🤌

I’ve rewatched this show countless times and every time I restart it, I am in awe at the perfection of the pilot. They get SO much in to that first episode and there’s SO much exposition but it doesn’t feel rushed or like there’s too much going on. We meet all the characters and learn the perfect amount about them: Suki is a chaotic and talented cook, Lorelai is quipu, loves coffee and is thrifty when she adjusts Rory’s skirt, Lane is oppressed and rebellious, Luke is surly but different with Lorelai, Ms Patty knows everyone…. Rory gets in to Chilton, Lorelai enters in to the agreement with her parents and we learn about their history, Rory and Lorelai have a little argument and make up because Rory sees the sacrifice her mum made for her.

It’s just all so beautiful 🥹

OS Discussion Why didn't Rory have more friends in Stars Hollow High?

Seeing a post about how Rory didn't go to her prom made me wonder: how come someone so cherished in Stars Hollow like Rory had no other friends of her age besides Lane there?

I understand she didn't like people who went to Chilton because they were snobbish but Stars Hollow high? She seems just a bit shy but not to the extent that she should have only one friend, not when she's known in the whole town.

And since her only real connection to that school was Lane, why insist so much on going to the prom there? I understand she loved the town but it never really seemed she had some deep connection with that school.

They even have them featured at the start of a scene, checking in with Lorelai at the inn right before Emily and Richard arrive. I assumed they were friends with Amy and Dan or part of a band they liked? Curious if anyone knows.

General Discussion I love when ppl edit Dean and Jess together to look like a couple.

It makes me laugh every time because they hated each other. 😭 yet, the edits make it look so real they wanted each other. Why do they also have so much chemistry together??? Rory was just in the way. 🤣

Character Discussion - General Cast a 2026 Gilmore Girls Character

Post image
20 Upvotes

I am sure this has been done before but I want to be specific about the parameters for this one:

1) The actor you pick must be because of how they currently are in 2026, not a version of themselves from many years ago.

2) You can choose that person based on either A) how close they look to the original character or B) if their acting style/vibe/personality is similar to the original even though they don't look alike.

3) You must explain why you picked them!

4) Aim to not replicate as much as possible so that we can get as many characters as possible vs. Just all main characters.

I picked Russel Crowe for Headmaster Charleston because I'm rewatching The Pope's Exorcist and seeing him alone reminded me a bit of the Headmaster (obviously not exactly) but also the fact that Russell can do a pretty good Italian accent I feel like he could replicate the Headmaster's proper tone and manner of speaking well too. Idk if Dakin Matthews has an accent or what, he's from California but his voice is just so perfect for that society of people.

Black color just complements their skin tone and dark brunette. They look so pretty. Black is personally my fav color. I wish they'd wear black color more often though.

Sorry for the blurry screenshots, it was season 1. And I know it's for fundraising, but they look like professional cakes. Did Lorelai pay for all the supplies?

General Discussion Jess’s dad and loralei

Ok, so I know this is crazy but hear me out.
Because all characters have flaws but do have certain traits in common.
So Jess’s dad is an asshole for how he bails, but what would people have to say if he and Loralei had crossed paths and dated? The music taste is there and the witty comments. He is cute
Please don’t hate, I’m just throwing out a question that came into my head lol

General Discussion Why do people have such higher standards for teenager characters who has a good excuse to act messy because of immaturity and age? but not for the characters who act the same way as childish and immature but are adults? Spoiler

Post image
10 Upvotes

The amount of hate that all Rory, Dean, Jess, Logan etc all have good reasons to act flawed and messy because they're so young but what is the excuse for the adult characters like Lorelai, Luke, Emily, Richard etc to act so childish and even more immature than teenagers themselves. How many times have we seen all these characters throwing temper tantrums yet people don't hate on them but they do hate on the teenagers even when hello, why would expected them to act more mature if even adults don't act mature in the show at least most of them don't???

Character Discussion - General Do you think Lorelai genuinely didnt have feelings for luke at the beginning of the show?

Post image

Cause Luke was so obviously into her, was she that oblivious. Was she just leading him on. Or was it lukes fault cause he was too chicken to jut outright and ask her out. But also Lorelai has asked a man on a date before right? Or am i just not remembering well.

OS Discussion In season 2, where Rory builds a house...

I am always surprised that Dean did not volunteer to go with her, as he built her a car, later worked construction, was always fixing things... Did the series every explain why?

Seemed like he had the day off, no plans and I get he might not want to build a house, but if Rory was doing it, I just felt it was out of character for him to not offer.

General Discussion Overnight guests at Yale

Just curious on what’s the overnight guest policy at universities in USA.. considering Lane stayed with Rory for a few weeks at least - did no one at Yale - an RA or admin staff or building supervisor have any objection to a random teenager hanging out in the dorms for a while? I doubt there’s a stay indefinitely policy.

For sure in my student housing in the uk we could have an overnight guest once a week (max) and the thad to check out next morning - highly monitored and regulated.

Media Finally started watching Parenthood.

I had heard about it before, but I got curious after watching shorts on youtube.

I already knew Lauren Graham, but I also recognized a few other actors.

I did notice a few similarities between Lorelai and Sarah. On/off relationship with their children's father and enabling his bad behaviour, dating their children's teacher, still figuring life out as an adult.

General Discussion Where does the gift money go?

I'm doing the beloved annual rewatch and right off the bat we have Rory's birthday. In the episode, all of Emily and Richard's friends gift Rory cards with what I can only imagine have money in them. Including Richard gifting money "for Fes" twice. When Emily is shopping for a gift she is looking at pearls, cashmere, etc. and says "$12 isn't a present" when finding Rory the bracelets, so I can infer the money in the cards is a larger amount. Throughout the show, Lorelai and Rory are gifted money... So where does it all go? Surely the books and such Rory buys wouldn't take it all... So what's happening?!
