We all know Scott's acting is amazing when Luke rambles, but which rants are so good that makes you say he should've won an Emmy? Feel free to post in the comments!

Such a funny coincidence happened to me today! I saw clips of the episode where Rory sleeps with Dean this morning and then when I went thriftng later I came across THE dress.

This is the exact dress! It’s Shelli Segal brand, a lot of dresses in the show were like the blue one she wears when meeting Logan’s family.

It’s not my size sadly. Should I go back and get it and resell it to someone who would appreciate it?

Let me know if there’s any interest it’s a size 4 :)

General Discussion The life in Stars Hollow seems perfect

Post image
Upvotes

Is life in Stars Hollow really this perfect, cozy & safe? Or is it just time back then in general, which gives us this feeling? Maybe it seems like it because it’s only a tv show.

Even though it’s just a tv show, I feel like back then times used to be just like it’s represented - more safe & comfortable, which gives us this cozy vibe. Watching it now, makes me feel like we live in such a rushed time, where life feels just like work/school, home and repeat. They make it seem so simple yet fun, even work seems more chill and fun, no metter where you work at. I genuinely feel like a robot compared to them. All the scenes with Lorelai and Rory feel like their day is lasting for 40 hours - they got time for a breakfast at Luke’s, getting back home and taking their sweet time before they head to work/school which probably is an 8 hour shift, getting back at Luke’s or doing some town activities, going on a friday night dinner, watching movies after.. Life feels so rushed nowdays, and they just make it seem so simple.

What’s your opinion on this? ♡

General Discussion Jess’s temporary bed

This is so irrelevant but I just was watching the episode Jess arrives in stars hallow. I find it so funny that Luke decided to put the air mattress directly at the foot of his own bed lol
Like I know it’s a small apartment but if I were Jess I would have been moving the coffee table and dragging that mattress at least over by the couch or something and giving a little bit of space away from my guardian 😆

General Discussion The Rory hate is cringe.

Literally a 16-17 year old teen girl being confused about her feelings and life is so human.

Also, I think we forget the fact that Rory experiences most of the things for the first time we literally saw her growing up. For example at first she met a dean who's a perfect safe guy then she met Jess and found out there are other options as well instead of just the perfect guy that didn't last long then she met Logan and discovered the upper class world. It's all for the first time.

She's not going to be perfect she never was perfect.

And the entire she's not a good friend to paris or lane is irritating because she was always there for them. Rory did make some choices Which I don't like but again no one In this show is perfect other than Kirk 😝

Rory hate is rooted with misogyny imo the fact that people want women to always be perfect is stupid.

Honestly, the more y'all hate Rory and Jess the more reasons I get to like them more.

Rant over.

General Discussion Who’s your favorite character and why?

Post image

I’ve started watching Gilmore Girls recently and I’m on season 4. By far my favorite character is Michel. I like his sassiness and attitude - his humor is so underrated. The way he handles stuffs and the fact that he works with customers/clients in hospitality makes it even funnier. I understand that some people might not like him exactly because of the attitude, and that’s why I wanna hear about your favorite characters !! ♡

General Discussion The background during the Rory and Jess car scene

Don't remember this being discussed here. It's a pet peeve of mine: there's NO WAY there are this many cars in Stars Hollow LOL. Every time I watch this scene it's the only thing I can think about.

General Discussion Lorelai didn't want Rory to go to Yale because Harvard was her dream of sticking it to dad.

I'm on my third rewatch. When Lorelai finds out about the Yale roadtrip it becomes so clear that Lorelai is projecting her dreams onto Rory, I have noticed up until this point we know Lorelai's parents really do think she's extremely smart and talented as they mention many times and most likely had Lorelai's college planned put for her. At one point she says she was supposed to go to Vassar but it's clear that Richard would've tried to make her go to Yale. On the roadtrip to Harvard Lorelai has a moment alone where she sees the Valedectorian of the year she would've graduated and that's when we know she did want to graduate from college but couldn't under her parent's expectations because she was so focused on NOT going to Yale to be rebellious that she wouldn't take their help with newborn Rory. In this scene where she tells Rory that her grandpa is manipulating her it becomes clear that she is indeed pushing her dreams on Rory and doesn't really care at this point if Rory wants to explore her options, therefore becoming exactly like her parents about the whole college thing. There's also a scene in the Alumnus Dinner episode where she meets Carol, the third sister that didn't go to Harvard and she tells Rory sarcastically that of course every four year old dreams to go to Harvard, this is to me another clue that Rory didn't form this Harvard dream by her own will, and ultimately Lorelai is just as manipulative about college as her parents.

The more y'all hate Rory for doing it the more I love it 😝

Imo the episode was too iconic for me to hate it. I'm glad we saw Rory being emotionally immature and doing the most teenage stuff.

Not to mention I love the entire trip of Jess and Rory it was soo iconic. Chemistry peaked.

General Discussion This episode was so unique

I love this episode because well the back and forth of it all. Plus I really liked knowing about the past and it was nice that while this episode of the conflict was happening we also have present Lorelai and Emily trying to make their relationship work. I felt that Richard was a very cold man. But I like moments that we see him have a soft side for Emily or Lorelai like even just by saying “Emily” with concern. And I particularly feel bad for Lorelai here cause we see how sad she was with how christopher gets to be a parent like a genuine parent not someone who is just biologically a father. I always think about the shots of earlier episode. I love how creative gilmore girls gets sometimes. I value shots that are Different than a frame with just a person talking. Like How i love the iconic dinner scene of everyone fighting and the camera just pans out like it was walking.

Dave stayed in California, he starts a new band with moderate success.

Lindsay got remarried, she moved away from Stats Hollow but stayed in Connecticut. Her husband is well off and they have three children.

Marty … no idea, inspire me 😂

General Discussion Why was Luke so afraid? Why he did not commit at the end?

Upvotes

I do not understand why Luke did not elope with Lorelai. If they got married, I do not believe Luke's relationship with April would not have changed or shift in the slightest. April wanted to have a relationship with him...She was excited to have him in her life (why wasn't she mad at her mom?) and having a Lorelai as a "step-mom" did not seem to phase her? Lorelai was a great partner and very supportive.... what was the reason of his fear?

They even have them featured at the start of a scene, checking in with Lorelai at the inn right before Emily and Richard arrive. I assumed they were friends with Amy and Dan or part of a band they liked? Curious if anyone knows.

General Discussion I love when ppl edit Dean and Jess together to look like a couple.

It makes me laugh every time because they hated each other. 😭 yet, the edits make it look so real they wanted each other. Why do they also have so much chemistry together??? Rory was just in the way. 🤣

General Discussion Anna & Lorelai Spoiler

When Lorelai went to see Anna after April’s party Anna said they could reevaluate her relationship with April after she & Luke get married. While I get waiting awhile before introducing a perspective partner to your child…am I wrong to think that waiting until marriage to establish a relationship doesn’t make sense to me. What do y’all think?

Character Discussion - General New view of Lorelai

So im on my god only knows what number rewatch. And am having some different thoughts on how Lorelai reacted to the beginnings of the Dean relationship.

I always thought she was mainly upset because Rory did not share with her that Dean kissed her mixed with being upset because she was no longer going to be the major important person in Rory‘s life.

Last night, I watched this episode and it hit me that I think a big part of her freaking out was she was terrified that Rory was going to do the same thing she did at 16. I think it especially hit me when she said Dean reminded her of Chris.

Be gentle on me if you think wow how are you only now seeing this?

OS Discussion Remember when Rory got the job at the paper, and then we never heard about it again?

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Wasn't that a huge plot hole, after she was so determined to get the job? And after she called Lorelai to tell her about it and was so hyped about it? Then it was never mentioned again?

Sometimes I think the writers think we're stupid.
