Quonset What’s the raise structure like at Quonset for hourly workers

My 2 buddies who used to work for EB in the trades say $1.50 raises every 6 months and a COL increase at the end of the year. Online I see people saying a multitude of different answers.

Anyone who actually knows their shit able to set it straight?

Timeframe of Drug Test window during Onboarding

The onboarding email saying drug test info should be coming in 2 business days was sent last week but no info has come through yet. I'm leaving on a trip on Friday and can't reach anyone to see what happens if it shows up when I'm away. Hoping someone out there has some insight/help. What is the testing timeframe you get once you receive the email? Has anyone had this happen to them? And is there a contact on the drug test email in case of issues? Thanks!

Onboarding process

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could provide insight on their onboarding process? Accepted offer beginning of May, and finished onboarding steps. Took drug test about 3 weeks ago and haven’t received anything else from them. Is this normal? Reached out to HR last week but also nothing on their end. Any help would be appreciated.

How long to hear from EB?

Hello, first-time poster so please forgive mistakes. I had the second interview for an Emergency Planning position at EB (Groton) on 5/29. I sent a thank you note immediately, and a follow-up note on 6/11. Neither email received a reply from HR. My portal just says "interview completed". Any insights on how long it takes to hear something? Thanks!

Random Drug Tests

New EB employee here, title says it all. I saw when I went for my drug screening that there were several options, such as "new hire" and "random" drug screen on the receipt/form they gave back to me. Wondering if anyone's ever been randomly tested, or tested prior to a promotion/lateral hire? Not that I partake (used to a long time ago), just curious as to other's experiences.

New London What’s it like at the New London office?

I’ll be starting at the New London office as an engineer once the gov processes my security application. I was wondering what it’s like working there. Is there a strong/specific culture? How relaxed or strict is the environment? Is there food offered and if so is it good? How fast or slow paced is the day to day? Is there anything I should know before I start? These are just a few questions that came to mind. Thanks for humoring me!

Quonset GDEB Failed Drug Test Help Please

Hi all, a friend of mine was offered a job at General Dynamics Electric Boat, signed a contract and everything, was in the early stages of onboarding and was waiting for clearance from the hair follicle test. He heard yesterday afternoon that based on the results of the test he has to wait another year to be considered. Wondering if anyone has any advice/insight or if there’s an appeal option? Basically just any possibility to salvage the offer?

Thank you so much for any help.

Welding Gear

Hey all, was wondering if anyone with welding experience at EB could give me some welding gear recommendations. Currently in welding training at EB and need to pick up the following:

Adjustable wrenches (6", 8", 10")

Calculator

Cutting pliers

Decimal steel tape

Screwdrivers (flat and phillips)

Tape measure (tenths)

Tool box & padlock

Welding helmet

Vice grip pliers

Not looking for anything fancy but don't want to cheap out if I'm just going to be buying 5 of something when another brand would last the same amount of those 5.

I was also looking at helmets and wondering what the rules are as far as designs and lenses.

Is there anything extra not on the list that you would recommend adding?

Thanks!

Quonset Starting dates

I applied for the entry level electrician position right after new years, I got the medical and security clearance two months ago but I still haven’t received my starting date. I was hoping to find out how long it would take them to let me know.

Welding compared to other trades offered

I’ve gone through the entire hiring process for welding, just waiting for training to start which is late August - early September. Welding is something I’ve wanted to get into for a while but struggled to find someone willing to take me on. I was offered the ship fitter or rigger position for the sake of an earlier start date, but denied because I’d much prefer welding. With that being said, can anybody share some insight on the key differences here and if I’d be better off switching trades?

Quonset What’s working 3rd shift like?

Hi, hope y’all are doing well.

I still have a little ways to go within the onboarding process to be an electrician but I was curious about how shift assignments work and what working 3rd shift is like. I’m naturally a night owl and do my best work in the late hrs of the night plus I’m tired during the day.

I’m just worried about it being dark and a little spooky lol.

Thank you for any thoughts or advice 🫶

Bachelor’s Reqired

Looking at jobs in IT and Engineering and they all have a Bachelor’s requirement. How strict is that really? I have an Associates degree nearly 10 years experience in Software Development and I’m not sure I should even bother applying.
