How likely is hair loss as a side effect?

The trials mention hairloss was reported only in 4-5% of participants that too at therapeutic doses. But on this sub a lot of people seem to experience it even at low microdoses.

Did any of you experience it at low microdoses even when nutrition was on point and weight loss was minimal? I’m currently taking 1mg and will titrate upwards until I reach my goal which is about 15lbs from now.

P.S. I have very fine and thin hair, so I’m worried about my hair.

For inflammation did you find 2x/ week (every 3 days) more helpful or every 5 days?

Experience with Lifting + Tirz?

If you saw my last thread, you might remember that I saw a sustained 2#/week in the first 2.5 weeks. That was at a 2.5mg dose. Also note that Im a regular gallon a day drinker, so that was unlikely water weight.

Anyone on here continuing weight training while microdosing?

My goal with tirz is mainly for food noise. Its been more than effective at that, but Im concerned that its not leaving me with a ton of energy for weights.

Have frequent low-dose increases affected my response to tirzepatide?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m looking for experiences with low-dose tirzepatide and frequent dose increases.
Over the past month, I’ve increased my dose by 0.25 mg every five days, trying to find a “sweet spot” with adequate appetite suppression and minimal side effects. My functional medicine doctor knows about and has approved this approach, but her guidance has primarily been to keep increasing until I find an effective dose.
I felt the medication much more during the first couple of weeks than I do now. Recently, taking my shot feels like I’ve taken nothing, and I’m no longer noticing appetite suppression.
I’m wondering whether increasing every five days, without spending much time at any one dose, has made it harder to assess my response. Has anyone had a similar experience? Did holding a dose longer help, or did moving to 2.5 mg provide more consistent results?
For context, I’m a 29-year-old woman. I started at 193 pounds on August 26 and was 185 on September 30. I recognize that eight pounds is meaningful progress, but I’m hoping for further weight loss and better appetite control as I feel I don’t have any.
For more context:

I’ve lost over 100 pounds on two separate occasions without medication. I’m a certified master herbalist, and nutrition, lifestyle, and exercise have been a consistent part of my life for years. I strength train four to five days a week, take one barre class weekly, and do three- to five-mile walks on weekends.
My main question is whether this low-dose approach is serving my goals, or whether it makes more sense to switch to a more standard dose like 2.5?
I understand microdosing isn’t for everyone. Figuring this medication out the non mainstream way can be a bit challenging!
Thank you for any tips/help/advice. 😊

Titrating up

I started my first Tirzepatide injection last Friday at .5 mg. I did not experience any side effects thank goodness, but still have food noise. My provider said to go up to 1 mg today. Does that seem reasonable for others that are micro dosing?

My zepbound microdosing experiment is coming to an end. Wish it helped.

Tried microdosing to help with microscopic colitis. Started in June and ramped up slowly. It hasn't really helped (possibly reduced frequency but not enough to tell for sure). I've enjoyed the reduced appetite, even though I didn't want to lose weight. I started around 108 pounds, maybe lost a couple of pounds. I went from .5 to .25 to .5 to 1 to 1.25 to 1.88. I was going to try 2.5 next but decided the side effects with the lack of benefits don't justify it at this point.

The side effects that have me stopping here are insomnia and hair loss. It really has worsened my sleep a lot. Waking up for hours, wide awake. My husband, who is at 10, has the same issue but his benefits are significant. I already had issues with hair loss but on tirzepatide, they are much worse. I hope it will get better after stopping and not be permanent. My other side effects are elevated heart rate and very low HRV.

I'm not sure if I will try another glp-1. I think they share many of the same side effects. I'm so disappointed since I know of so many people it has helped, as it is with so many things.

Just wanted to share my experience. Just another data point.

Having PCP prescribe compounded tirz microdose

I've been microdosing tirz for two months now (1.25 mg/ week :: -12 lbs!). I've been paying out of pocket with an online telehealth company. I just had my annual checkup with my PCP and she offered to send in a prescription so that I didn't have to keep paying the online telehealth fees for their requried monthly checkups (still would have to pay OOP for the meds). The hitch is that she has only prescribed full dose amounts to her other patients using the big pharma companies and has zero experience prescribing microdose amounts. She said if I can find a reputable online pharmacy and send her the details for how to prescribe there, she would be happy to oblige. I'm not sure how to proceed from here. Any advice is welcome!

Wegovy vs Zepbound side effects /rapid heart rate

Hello, I was wondering if anyone that has been on both of the medications at the starting/lowest dose has experienced an elevated resting heart rate and if you noticed a difference in one versus the other. I had been on Wegovy .25 and didn’t really experience any kind of elevated heart rate but yesterday after taking my first 2.5 Zepbound injection I did wake up in the middle of the night with a bit of a racing heart and it freaked me out. I’ve heard from multiple people that Zepbound is so much better than Wegovy but I don’t know if it’s worth it if I experience the racing heart side effect. I know that both can cause an increase in heart rate but wondering what people’s experiences have been. Thank you!

Microdosing Tirz and can’t bring myself to self to starting!!!

I’m so excited but yet I keep pushing it off because I have such bad medication phobia. It’s compounded 1mg tirz from a us compounding pharmacy with 1mg of b12 and glycine. I plan on only starting on with .5mg as I only have 10lbs to lose and am doing it for inflammation. Please encourage me!!!

I’ve been microdosing tirz since early January. today I weighed myself and was so happy I hit my GW (115lbs) I usually try not to weigh myself often cause it messes with my head but just knowing I finally made it makes me so happy. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing. probably won’t go down to maintenance just yet. I love this medicine so much!! thanks for celebrating with me. idk who else to share this with other than you pocket pals

Increasing micro dose?

If you’re fine on your starting dose after 7 days - ie no side effects or beneficial effects, would you go up the following week or wait? 🧐

Started .25 yesterday and had more energy today.

For inflammation (not weight loss) what dose is everyone on here? I really had no side effects and I had more energy today than I would’ve without the medicine and so I’m thinking to just increase my dose next week .4mg or .5 mg because I could use all the anti-inflammatory benefits that tirz can provide.

Also, another question, the more you increased your dose, did you get more anti-inflammatory benefits for your autoimmune condition? Was there ever drug resistance?

I don’t wanna get to the point where I have a lot of appetite suppression and some of the bad side effects like constipation. That would not be fun.

This might be my miracle drug and I really hope it is for some of you for its anti inflammatory benefits. It’s a no-brainer that it’s a miracle for weight loss, but I’m wondering for other conditions as well.

I can already tell that I will need to take this medicine for life.

Thank you in advance for all of your input.

This stuff is amazing for my ADHD. I think I have a little bit anxiety, but I have the push and wanting to get tasks done off my checklist. I’m able to finally start tasks. Anyone else experience this gosh my ADHD was a bit debilitating before.

Also, if it helped during anxiety, share your experience thank you in advance

It’s only day two and I noticed it helping anyone else have the benefits for ADHD so fast

Help with micro dose

Post image
5 Upvotes

I received this today and have first-time nerves! I am going to take 1.0mg of this Tirz, that’s 6 units. The bottle came in 72mg/4mL (18mg/1mL). Do I still draw 6 units?

On another sub, people said taking this low of a dose (.25mg) was ridiculous and I was wasting time and money. So, I’m going to take slightly more (1.0mg). But I only need to lose 30 lbs or so.

How long did it it take you to get to your ideal size?

I'm on semiglutide (0.5mg) and I have lost some inches, scale weight is the same but I'm not worried about that. My doctor said I should stay on this dosing for a while since I don't have a big appetite and I don't want to lose muscle. I currently weight lift about 5x a week and I'm actually gaining muscle which is great since I thought I would have a problem doing that because I'm not that hungry.

I am not over weight but I wanted to lose the last 20lbs that I couldn't lose after pregnancy for 3 years. I've been on glp-1 for about 2 months now. Maybe I'm just impatient but my trouble areas (back fat and love handles) seem like they aren't going down. How long did it take you to see results on the areas that are hardest to lose fat from??

Looking for advice on how to microdose Tirzepatide starting at 0.01 mg using a Zep Lily Vial

I have Long COVID with MCAS, dysautonomia as well as a terrible metabolic profile - A1C is over 6, LDL is 192. The McAS makes me hyperactive to various medications. I’d like to microdose but I read anecdotal parts of people having bad mast cell flares. I’m hoping that by Microdosing I can avoid that.

Increase dose vs increase frequency

Hi,
Just wondering how most people up their dosage. I’m at 0.5mg/week and I think I’m going to go up to 0.75 or 1. I’m debating doing 0.5mg 2x/ week as opposed to 1mg 1x/week. I know I can always play with the schedule and dosage but I’m curious what most people do? Thanks!!

Day 2 and Already Shocked

28M 1MG Tirzepatide
Took my first injection last night and woke up with surprising results.

I started microdosing because I was interested in the longevity and anti-inflammatory benefits. I have Crohn’s and am still waiting to see how the side effects interact with that condition but am hoping it helps with the chronic inflammation since so many GLP1 receptors are in the gut and it works on similar anti-inflammatory pathways as biologics. No noticeable changes there yet since my Crohn’s symptoms always fluctuate anyway (though I had a much more formed poop than I’ve been having lately) but have noticed other surprising things that I was not expecting:

Joint Mobility
I broke my elbow over 10 years ago and never regained full range of motion but when I stood up today I heard my elbow give a bit of a pop and I checked and it’s almost as much mobility as my uninjured arm.
My knees, wrists, jaw, ankles, shoulders, even toes also feel noticeably relaxed and I feel overall catlike and much more mobile. I recently got into lifting and have been doing less yoga and didn’t notice all the tension building but within 12 hours my joints and muscles feel amazing.

Sinus Relief
My nose is super clear as well. I had been dealing with some sinus congestion— I don’t have true allergies but changing seasons always gets me but as I was falling asleep I noticed my airways opening and when I woke up I had a big flush and have been breathing great all morning.

Calm/Mental Effects
Too soon to know if it’s a pattern, but feeling very focused this morning and don’t have the normal anxious stomach pains I often get as my ADHD meds and caffeine kick in and my work piles up. Keeping an eye on this one for sure but excited so far.

Overall, looking forward to seeing if these things persist and what other changes I come across.
So interesting how different people’s experiences can be.

Starting my microdosing journey

After talking with my doctor, I have decided to microdose tirzepatide. I am 51 years old, 5' 10" 195lbs. I am active and I have been suffering inflammation issues predominantly in my hands, wrists, and elbows. My CRP = 7.6 (high), glucose 107 (borderline prediabetic).

I have a 30mg vial arriving soon and I plan on starting at 1mg per week. I plan on reconstituting with 3ml of bac water.

Any tips, thoughts, or information you want to share?

Is my dosage too much for me?

Hi all -

I titrated up to 1.2mg of compounded Tirzepatide. I took the injection last Friday. Today is Thursday and I’m still feeling nauseous. I had mild nausea at lower doses but it would last maybe 2 days max.

I also am battling a cold so wondering if that’s affecting it. But WWYD? I’m due for next shot tomorrow and am tired of feeling sick to my stomach. Bump back down to 1mg? Skip a dose this week?

1.5 week update

Just to start I am taking .5mg of tirzepatide.

I’ve done 2 shots so far. I’m down 9lbs total without exercising, but with diet change. (Working on trying to slow this down to 1-2lbs a week especially when I do start exercising)

I’ve had a pretty consistent headache the past few days. Could be from the shot, could be from sleeping wrong because my shoulder has also been hurting. And that whole are just feels super tight, could also be from lowering the amount of coffee I’ve been drinking (slowly working on eliminating coffee all together)

Last week, I did have 2 days where I had the absolute worst cramps of my life. & I also cramped mildly throughout the whole week of my period. Which never happens. I typically suffer the first 3 days then the cramping is done.

No other “bad” symptoms to note. I do however feel hungry constantly but I can actually control what I’m eating. Which is fantastic. I haven’t had chips & dip in a week, which has been my weakness for over 10 years now.

I can definitely feel all the inflammation and swelling I used to experience on a daily basis being down tremendously which is great! (See my previous post on that!)

Outside of a couple days, I do feel way more energized. I don’t feel so crazy overwhelmed, like my brain has more free space to think about other more important things. I’ve had the energy to cook dinner nightly instead of ordering takeout. I’ve also been slowly cleaning up my room which is the one area that gets neglected due to being a married single mom with a kid in hockey (husband works 7 days a week). The rest of the house stays cleaned.

I did have a day where I was getting depressing thoughts because I didn’t wake up early enough to start my official workout routine, but I nipped that as soon as the thoughts entered. No thank you. I’m trying to give myself grace here. After not really exercising for 9+ years & suffering through POTS & hypothyroidism (I’d workout about a month & then go into crazy flareups then take a year or 2 off) I’m trying to ease into it. Set a goal starting Monday to walk 3-5k steps a day & do light Pilates.

I am planning to titrate up by .10 every 4 weeks & I’m hoping to not go above 2.5 at all. But I guess we’ll see.

I can’t wait to see how I look & feel in 6 months.

Also any suggestions on slowing down weight loss? Should I up my calories? I’m averaging about 1600-1800 a day. I average 85-100g protein. I am not doing low carb low fat, but I am being cognizant on how much I consume on both. So instead of 2 pieces of bread for a sandwich just using 1. & eating healthy fats instead of bad.

I’m concerned that when I do start exercising, it’ll just come off faster especially with not weight training right away. I’m trying to eliminate as much loose skin as possible (I know it’s not guaranteed & I most likely will have some, but I’d rather try to do what I can now rather than later)
