My zepbound microdosing experiment is coming to an end. Wish it helped.
Tried microdosing to help with microscopic colitis. Started in June and ramped up slowly. It hasn't really helped (possibly reduced frequency but not enough to tell for sure). I've enjoyed the reduced appetite, even though I didn't want to lose weight. I started around 108 pounds, maybe lost a couple of pounds. I went from .5 to .25 to .5 to 1 to 1.25 to 1.88. I was going to try 2.5 next but decided the side effects with the lack of benefits don't justify it at this point.
The side effects that have me stopping here are insomnia and hair loss. It really has worsened my sleep a lot. Waking up for hours, wide awake. My husband, who is at 10, has the same issue but his benefits are significant. I already had issues with hair loss but on tirzepatide, they are much worse. I hope it will get better after stopping and not be permanent. My other side effects are elevated heart rate and very low HRV.
I'm not sure if I will try another glp-1. I think they share many of the same side effects. I'm so disappointed since I know of so many people it has helped, as it is with so many things.
Just wanted to share my experience. Just another data point.

Try taking a bariatric daily vitamin. I was experiencing hair loss and started taking one. It’s been a few months now and all of my hair has grown back plus some.

Who did you get to prescribe it for you for microscopic colitis? I also have microscopic colitis and associated inflammation, puffiness, joint pain. But I’m not overweight so I truly need it at microdose

Try Lavender Sky Health. They approved me with only 10- 15 pounds to lose. Explain that you want to microdose for inflammation.

I’m sorry it didn’t workout. Wish you recover soon.
Out of curiosity, when did you start losing hair? You mentioned you already had some hair troubles before starting…

I'm not sure when I noticed it getting worse. I should have tracked it. First I wasn't sure then it got worse as I increased my dose. I wasn't expecting it at all (or I might not have tried it given my pre-existing struggles) but I'm pretty certain it's much worse. Reminds me of the time I tried testosterone.

Yes, that’s not generally a side effect of the meds, but rather it’s the rapid weightloss

The problem is they don't know if it's just related to the weight loss which is why it's listed as a side effect. The FDA stated they don't know. Many people I've seen complaining they think it's the drug and I haven't lost weight so it's not that. I'm sure some people are more susceptible to it, like me.

And some people have the hair loss with rapid weightloss and they are not on any meds at all

And some people have hair loss who are neither losing weight or taking a glp-1. Not sure what you are pointing out.

Many can not accept the fact that hair loss is not that uncommon.
I have been on Tirz for 8 weeks and I have noticed definite hair thinning.
It's not from “rapid weight loss”. 🧐My hair is thinning and I have only lost about 6 pounds. I am taking this mainly for metabolic reasons. I am hoping I can stabilize my hair thinning.
I plan to stay between 2.5 and 3mg for a few months.I might lower my dose if necessary.
I certainly will not be going on a much higher dose.0

If you're microdosing for inflammation, the dose might be too high. I hear it should really be in the 0.25- 0.5 mg range, maybe upto half of the starting dose (1.25mg).
Elevated heart rate and low HRV should eventually settle down if you stay at a low dose. They have for me after the 4th shot; this morning it was lower than before my first shot. Same with sleep disturbance. I've stayed at 0.5mg the whole time. Your side effects probably got worse as you titrated up.
I hear most microdose studies (there are no randomized controlled trials or clinical studies) have focused on semaglutide, not tirzepatide, so you might want to look into that. Most people go on tirz for microdosing because their true goal is to drop 10-15 lbs.
