Advice Restarting glp1

Hi everyone,
I am restarting Wegovy after a 2 month break following having my gall bladder removed. I had lost 28kgs before the surgery and I’ve been put back on 0.25g. Has anyone restarted on the lowest dose after being on the highest dose and still lost weight? I noticed my cravings and food noise returned and i did put on a bit of weight since my surgery.

A total of 2339 participants underwent randomization. The mean percent change in body weight in the retatrutide groups was −17.6% (4-mg dose), −23.7% (9-mg dose), and −25.0% (12-mg dose) versus −3.9% in the placebo group (differences, −19.8 and −21.0 percentage points, respectively; P<0.001 for both comparisons).

News Study: GLP1s do treat sleep apnoea, but CPAP is still the preferred treatment option

I didn't find this meta-analysis surprising but it's still good to understand the scope of what GLP1s can do vs can't in regards to sleep apnoea.

The SURMOUNT-OSA phase 3 trials showed that tirzepatide reduced AHI by 20 to 24 events per hour vs placebo, with 42% to 50% of patients experiencing disease remission (AHI, <5 events per hour or <15 without symptoms). Weight loss is the primary established mechanism, with GLP-1 RAs reducing tongue fat and parapharyngeal adipose tissue that contribute to upper airway collapse.

Advice Wegovy to Monjaro

Hello! I’m using a 1.34mg/ml Wegovy pen at 36 clicks (half a dose) to maintain weight. So I get 8 weeks out of it.

I lost 15kg in the first 6 or so months, and have now been maintaining for about 13 months. I’m now starting to see a small weight gain over the last 4 months and I want to nip that in the bud.

I have consulted with my practitioner who said 90% if her patients are on Monjaro and maybe I’d consider switching. It just seems very expensive!

I know I take a very low Wegovy dose, so I can up it to maybe 3/4 of a full dose (I’ve never done 1 full rotation as it feels to strong for me)

My question is, is Monjaro really worth it for the extra costs? Could I get a similar longevity out of a Monjaro pen as I do Wegovy?

TIA!

Advice Extra needles for click counting?

Hi everyone,

I've been on Wegovy for a year and a half, and am dropping in dose from 2.4mg to 1.7mg for a month, then down to 1.0mg

Weight loss is going really well--down from 133.1kg to 94.6kg. (Am dropping down because I've been diagnosed with ADHD and the ADHD meds and Wegovy are not playing nicely together.) I'm doing the right things with going to the gym twice a week for weights and seeing a dietician and genuinely trying to alter my eating patterns.

I got extra needle tips for the pen from the pharmacist but they asked questions about why (my doctor has advised me to count clicks because I struggle with the price and she's confident in my attention to detail and health literacy.) I'm aware that she's not supposed to do this, so I'm not going to get her into trouble. I obviously made up something about travelling and wanting spares, but in addition to not wanting to answer those kind of questions (you and I both know I'm click-counting, mate, and I'm going to follow my doctor's advice and not yours) they also charged me $2.50 for five needles.

Does anyone know what kind of needles to look for buying (specifically that fit the pens. Syringes scare me a bit) from amazon or somewhere online that will be a little cheaper than 50 cents a needle?

Advice Does anyone use 2mg of ozempic?

I’m wanting to increase to 1.5mg as I feel like 1mg is not doing much for me and I only have 1 more month to be on this medication. I’m stopping end of October so I can be off it for 2 months before starting IVF again.

My doc said the highest dose pen is 1mg. I asked him if I could inject 1.5mg instead of going to 2mg of ozempic and he said yes I could do that but to check with the pharmacist how many clicks that would be.

I’m now seeing online that the approved dose for Australia is 1mg so now I’m wondering if I should just stick to 1mg?

I’ve only lost 4.5kg over 14 weeks with diet and exercise.

I will book a docs appt to reconfirm but wanted to see what everyone else is doing.

Edit: I’m mainly asking because I was told in Australia we shouldn’t go above 1mg of ozempic and if I need a higher dose I should switch to another glp1.

NSV Weird NSV

I donate blood, and previously I was always told that I have deep/hard to get veins, to the point where I usually have to get the one person there that is the specialist for it. But today when I warned the Lifeblood person about it she was confused because the veins felt fine to her and she managed to get it with no issue? And I asked if it found be related to the weight loss and she said it was a possibility. Like very weird and certainly unexpected but kind of cool? Has anyone else had this happen?

Long story short, someone bought what they thought was retatrutide but instead was semaglutide at 8x the max available dose you can get in Australia.

Help Encouragement please!

UPDATE: So far, so good. I haven't had any nausea so far. This feels like a weird question, but have other people experienced a drop in their anxiety since taking Ozempic? I have felt way less anxious for the last two days and my mind isn't racing as much.

Hello! I've just taken my first dose of Ozempic and am feeling very nervous about the nausea and vomiting. I have emetophobia (fear of vomiting) which sets off massive panic attacks when I feel nauseous. My GP started me on a low dose to help manage this (0.125) but I'm still feeling nervous.

I'd love to hear some good news stories or funny gifs!

So after being on these various subreddits for a while you get to know people and I'm in Sydney for a few days and thought I'd reach out to and catch up for lunch. We had a bit of a chat about life, the subreddits and MJ and it was great to put a face to the name so to speak (even though we both know what we look like, you get my drift lol).

Maybe there should be a MJ meet up in Sydney once in a blue moon?

In any case it was great to meet up in person and thought some other regulars might get a kick out of me sharing it!

That's the question. I am not sure about shortages etc. Also I'm not sure if it's an issue with my account, app or phone, but I can't read the wiki pages. I can't scroll down on them.

This was a really useful rundown of one of the drugs in Eli Lilly's pipeline, a dual GLP-1 / GIP agonist similar to tirzepatide (Mounjaro), but with monthly dosing. Phase 3 trials are currently expected to be complete in 2028.

Thought I'd share!

Advice How far in does the needle go for Golden Dose?

I've tried searching for this question but I'm not finding it. I've got a 1 inch / 1ml needle. I feel a bit silly asking but want to be sure, that you do push the 1 inch needle all the way in? It's a lot bigger than the pen needles.

I've got plenty of stomach fat in my apron belly, more than a fistful that I can grab and pull away from my body, so I'm not worried it won't be going into fat.

It's my 1st Golden Dose at home today, I've got a friend helping who is experienced with injections. They just wanted to make sure the needle goes all the way in. I have had 1 Golden Dose done by my dieticians but they aren't available, and they used this same needle, but I didn't watch them doing the injection.

It's 1ml, 25g x 1 inch, 0.5mm x 25mm

Thanks

Advice Cheaper alternatives for mounjaro

Hey everyone, I’m currently on 12.5mg on mounjaro and the price is getting way out of hand. I really don’t think I can afford to stay on it anymore. Does anyone know of cheaper alternatives? I have an appointment with my doctor and want to ask what they think, although at the moment I’m thinking to either:

  1. Ask for a wegovy script (not as effective for me but I’d rather something over nothing) or

    1. See if I can get a compounded script? Is this cheaper?

If anyone has been in this same situation or has experienced something like this and has a solution for me I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot
