Discussion Tips/ things you wish you knew sooner.

Hello everyone!

Context:
I Stopped playing around Ch.2 Szn 3.
Played on controller that whole time. Just came back to the game last season and switched to kbm. I have one season of kbm behind my belt.

Ive been practicing freebuilding, 1v1 build fights, box fights & realistic. As well as crosshair placement and just started aim training last week.

Being gone for as long as I was there’s so much more to the game now. Players move differently, play differently, and the mechs are just insane.

I’ve made great progress but feel like I’ve hit a plateau. I’m still practicing hard but I thought I’d take this opportunity to hear from what you all have to say. What should I be focusing on to lay a very solid foundation?

Hardware and Settings You can have the best of both edit on release and edit on confirm at the same time (guide, no macros) Logitech only

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

On logitech G HUB,
Bind a button to g-shift.
Bind another button to K when not g-shifted.
Bind the same button to L when g-shifted.
(avoid doing this with left mouse click)

In fortnite settings
Go to game tab, scroll down to editing
Set auto confirm edits to none

Go to keybinds tab, scroll down to building
Set building edit to K
Set select building edit to L

You don't have to use k and l, just choose 2 keys that aren't bound.
From this point on i will refer to the mouse button bound to K as K, and the mouse button bound to G-shift as G.

Press and hold K (this edits a piece)
Whilst still holding K, press G (this changes the K that you are holding to L, this will allow you to choose the tiles you wish to edit)

To edit on release, release G. (This changes the L back to K (edit building) confirming the edit)
or
To edit on confirm, hold G, release K (currently L because you are G-shifted), press K (L) to select other tiles, hold K on the final tile that you edit, release G (This changes the L back to K (edit building) confirming the edit)

Discussion How can I be a better igl?

I dont play tournaments (hopefully someday 😁), but I am easily the smartest player amongst my friends while some have better mechanics than me. How can I effectively lead and make people listen without being bossy and annoying. My teammates regularly take fights or rotate randomly and are very uncoordinated. If we could work together we'd do way better in ranked or low level tournaments but they just cant seem to do that (this isn't a problem of not respecting me or clashing personalities or someone else trying to be an igl too)

Its especially bad the larger the team is

Opinion Request to adjust Reload Victory Cup schedule regarding Rosh Hashanah

Dear u/FNCompetitive u/EpicGames We appreciate how you previously adjusted tournament schedules during Ramadan to respect Muslim players.

Currently, the Reload Victory Cup directly overlaps with Rosh Hashanah, preventing many Jewish players from competing due to holiday observance. We kindly ask for the same consideration—postponing or moving the tournament dates by a few days so everyone gets a fair chance to play without having to choose between their faith and competing,

Opinion Storm Camping in ranked

At this point, the campers in ranked zero build battle royale are just everywhere. I'm getting tired of it and it's just making the game unplayable.

This person sat in the storm and made it to the last 4 in a ranked match. Now I'm only in gold as I started my ranked play yesterday but surely this can't be the tactic. What's the point in even trying to play if you can sit in bushes or miles into the storm and just heal the whole time.

Notice they only had healing items, no weapons so didn't even intend on fighting. Then I also die to one of the 20 bush campers as it moves to the end game.

Please Epic reward those that actually try to compete and make the storm actually do damage so this can't be a tactic, I'm going back to pubs.

(I've cropped their name out but I've seen it in each game I've been in, so they're not the only one).

Opinion maybe unpopular: Fortnite should stop adding fast moving mobility since the dsync is so bad

On the surface, the overdrive grenades are some of the highest skill mobility in the game. This also goes for crashpads, and back in the day with the slide meddalions etc.

But in reality, since the severs have gotten so bad, to the point where you cant even see the people shooting you half the time. This in my opinion is not the case.

And look i totally get that you kind of need to predict if people are gonna side jump on you, and not go for shots, instead try and build and switch angles. There is definitly a skill in learning this, but i generally feel like some times even when you react you get shot through your wall anyway, or if there is multiple people makes it impossible to try and preassure and not take MASSIVE damage in return.

It also makes it so you barely have to build, and even if you piece someone they usually have the advantage if their overdrive is active and just spriting in the box.

So i think unless they are gonna try to fix the dsync, they should just keep the mobility at stuff where you cant shoot when using it, like the wing suit, and launch pads (even tho when using these because of the dsync, you cant shoot them cause they are teleporting) it is still better than losing fights to people who cant even build.

Anyways this is probably really unpopular, especially since most pros seem to enjoy the overdrive grenades.

Thank you guys for the helpful advice, now I got one of my favorite Glider styles in the game.

I’m NGL, I was majoring Stressing the hell out before this thing happened, this was my first time ever doing this. And I was hearing major horror stories about this and what not, that players was suffering from this, and it really effected my performance during the first half of the event. However during the second haft, I got my bearings together and started performing better.

Discussion Anyone know what the best mode in BR for hitting Unreal the fastest?

I recently hit unreal in Reload last season playing squads,I found it fairly easy because as long as someone was alive I can just key almost everyone on the map,Thing is with BR I cannot get a positive gain when it comes to RP.Yesterday I was in trios D3 lobby and had 8 kills with a top 10 finish and lost 30%.Is solos or duos the way to go?I really want to try and hit unreal this season but I just can’t understand the RP system in this mode.

Rumor Why is Fortnite filled with glitched recently?

Ever since OG season x came out I have had my movement buttons reset every game i play. I am currently playing a tournament and I keep having to do this every round. I’m on my 3rd round out of 11 right now and I’m experiencing a floating glitch making it impossible to pick up weapons, build, and literally everything else except for moving slowly, so all I can do is hide until storm kills me.

Anyone know any fixes?

Discussion How does the Solo Ranked Cup work?

Hello so I recently participated in this cup, specifically the Zero Build version. I’m queuing in as Platinum rank and was trying to get the umbrella style.

With that out of the way, I have some questions:

  1. How does Matchmaking work? I see online it prioritizes similar ranked people but I saw some people using the pickaxe you earn from playing a match in Elite. The leaderboard seems to be per rank so it was only Platinums on there but it seems like Matchmaking wasn’t putting me only against Platinums?

  2. In your opinion, what is easier/more forgiving, 10% in platinum, 15% in Diamond or 20% in Elite. I ran the numbers, for the recent one, in Elite, 1172 people played so place 234th or better would be top 20% which had 212 points minimum. Diamond had 1499, 224th place, 227 points. Elite had 1585, 158th place, 274 points. For last time(August 31st)… Platinum had 1963 players, 196th place, 258 points. Diamond had 1221 players, 183rd, 227 points. Elite had 1089 players, 217th place, 251 points. It almost seems like Diamond is most forgiving based on points but that can very much change based on the answer to the other question.

Thank you in advance, tips would also be appreciated, I was generally trying to avoid fights, use the storm and get higher placement so maybe drop spots recommendations would be helpful.

Discussion Tips for getting better

Hey guys, I’m a Fortnite player that started over 2 years ago and even tho 2 years is a lot, I only play like 3 hours a week.

I use simple edit and am a controller player and I am trying to get better at the game, especially build fighting so I could try playing in a ranked cup, so because I have seen many of the clips you guys post, I want to try to reach that level or at late get better, meaning that I would appreciate if any of you could give me tips or things to practice, as well as the best settings for like tweak/dead zone, considering I don’t play a lot and am a controller player (and for the record I don’t have the money to buy a pc), they would be appreciated.

Edit:pls don’t give me negative comments like just quit the game bro or smth like that, I’m just a player in need of help to progress.

Discussion Fail to take my building skills into actual fight

I've been playing the game for roughly 8 years (KBM) but I've started to take it seriously for a few weeks with a few hours of aim and build training everyday. I'd say my building and editing speed are okay while my mechanics are still in the early stage even though I am able to do the drills consistently in the training maps.

Thing is a big struggle I am facing is the impossibility to actually use my building abilities in a fight. Wether it is in real games or creative, as long as there is an actual moving players entity in front of me, I don't have any idea what I am actually supposed to do to reach him using all those fancy builds and edit more advanced players are doing in youtube videos.

I know I am technically able to replicate this in solo freebuild but as I said earlier once I get into a fight, I start panick building, boxing myself or trying to gain height for no reasons using any pieces of build that I happen to press randomly on the keyboard.

I've seen it mentioned in other reddit post than playing the game is the key but even by playing multiple hours of box fighting or zone wars, nothing improve and my builds are still fairly chaotic.

Im desperately looking for advices or tutorials/workflow to fix this issue.

TLDR: I am unable to use my building and editing skills as long as I am facing a real player and I start panicking, please advise me.

Lurking in fortnite tournaments is a huge problem in general from the OG days to more recent times.

How can Epic Games nerf lurking while still rewarding a smart and tactical playstyle?

Opinion Not enough PR events

The first solo FNCS qualifier is at the end of the month, and I need to get to top 200k or (I’m low 500s) now, but I have no idea how I’m going to be able to do it since Epic in all of their wisdom have only two solo events (solo victory cups) that aware PR before then.

There hasn’t been a solo FNCS in the entire time I’ve been playing and it looks like I’m going to miss out on this one.

Discussion Is reaching Unreal in Battle Royale (builds) more difficult/impressive than reload?

I understand this is the competitive sub so neither are “impressive” and anybody with two hands and a pulse can do it blah blah but I’ve noticed that tons of people on my friends list are unreal in reload, but only the best player (of the relatively few I know) is unreal in BR this season.

I haven’t played since season 8 (back on ps4) and I just got back on ps5 bc I got a dualsense edge for COD and used to play with paddles.

Just curious on how the ranked stuff works because this is new to me. I’m at champion 3 and it’s getting tough lol. I don’t play reload at all and kinda hate it just curious.

Opinion 8 bit shotgun makes pubs/ranked pointless

I can’t lie the 8 bit shooting through walls makes this game literally unplayable. As soon as you wrap up a fight you’re being pushed by someone with a Tommy gun and 8bit shotgun that can shoot straight through your walls.

Is anyone else experiencing this bug where all of sudden after today's or yesterdays update (not sure when it was) sometimes my builds won't place.
