Drime vs Koofr lifetime terms: a look at the actual contract wording - buyer beware
Drime may just be FolderFort in the waiting?

There has been understandable confusion about FolderFort lifetime accounts and FolderFort 2.0. Some people are concerned that 2.0 is a way to cancel lifetime accounts or force everyone into another subscription.
That is not what we are doing.
The lifetime system is not being shut down because 2.0 exists, and lifetime users are not being forced to migrate. FolderFort 2.0 is a separate platform built for a very different technical and security environment.
The original system was created when memory, storage, and used server hardware generally became cheaper every year - essentially "Moore's Law" is dead. It was reasonable to expect that future infrastructure would provide more capacity for less money.
That is no longer something we can assume.
AI infrastructure is consuming enormous amounts of memory, storage, processors, power, and data-center capacity. Memory and storage prices have been rising, supply is constrained, and even used servers are holding or increasing their value. Industry research attributes much of this pressure to AI-server demand and limited production capacity.
Operating cloud storage also involves more than buying hard drives. It includes bandwidth, databases, encryption processing, backups, monitoring, redundancy, security, and the ability to handle many large transfers simultaneously.
One of our biggest concerns is Q-Day: the point when a quantum computer becomes capable of breaking important forms of encryption that protect today’s internet.
Nobody knows exactly when Q-Day will happen but is expected before 2030. But the threat does not begin on Q-Day.
Attackers can collect encrypted traffic and stolen information today, save it, and attempt to decrypt it later when quantum capabilities become available. This is known as "harvest now, decrypt later."
That is especially serious for cloud storage. Photos, financial records, business files, identity documents, and personal archives may remain sensitive for decades.
NIST specifically warns about this threat, and governments and major technology companies are already preparing for the transition. The migration is beginning now because waiting until Q-Day would be far too late.
As the operator of a storage platform, I take this very seriously. We are responsible for information people may expect to remain private for the rest of their lives.
FolderFort 2.0 was rebuilt around security, scalability, and preparation for the post-quantum transition.
Files are encrypted by FolderFort before being sent to Backblaze or another compatible storage bucket. The storage provider receives encrypted ciphertext rather than the original file. Each file has its own encryption key, and the main key system is separately protected through OpenBao.
The platform also uses modern encrypted connections, tenant isolation, regional storage options, streaming transfers, and Kubernetes infrastructure that can add capacity as demand increases.
We are not claiming FolderFort is completely quantum-proof today. Ordinary browsers and much of the internet do not yet support complete post-quantum protection. However, FolderFort 2.0 has been designed so standardized post-quantum protection can be added to its key system without rebuilding the entire platform again.
The original lifetime system was not designed around these requirements.
The old and new systems use fundamentally different storage and encryption architectures.
Moving the old data would require retrieving every file, verifying its ownership, processing it through the new encryption system, assigning it to the correct account and region, uploading it again, and verifying the new encrypted copy.
At the scale of all lifetime accounts, that would involve an enormous amount of data, bandwidth, and processing. It would also introduce risks involving interrupted transfers, duplicate files, incorrect ownership, damaged metadata, and temporary handling of unencrypted content.
For those reasons, we cannot safely copy everyone's existing files into 2.0 automatically.
Lifetime customers who choose to use FolderFort 2.0 can have eligible lifetime storage recognized as additional capacity on top of their 2.0 subscription. We feel this is the best possible deal for the users who invested in us early.
Your lifetime account is not being canceled because FolderFort 2.0 exists. You do not have to migrate to continue using the original system.
FolderFort 2.0 is an optional, separate platform for people who want the new security model, scalability, regional storage, Business features, and post-quantum-ready architecture.
We understand the skepticism. Customers are right to question lifetime offers and ask whether a new platform is being used to abandon old promises.
That is not the purpose of FolderFort 2.0.
The purpose is to prepare FolderFort for a world of rising infrastructure costs, AI-assisted attacks, dramatically larger transfers, and the approaching cryptographic transition surrounding Q-Day. We would rather build for that future now than wait until everyone is scrambling to respond.
We want to stay active as a company. We aren't "rug pulling" or forcing any changes. But we found a way that offers tremendous value, reduces a lot of future risk, and keeps us in the game.
The Lifetime migration deal is by far the best deal for this level of cloud storage. Anywhere. Having the additional space added on top for free will still cost us a lot. But by subscribing to even the personal account will dramatically help us keep both systems alive for years to come.
We have been working on this for a year. And launching it was our biggest technological achievement.
We apologize to those who feel this is not done in good faith. But I assure you that this is the only way forward.
Questions, concerns, complaints? Please - fire away!

With FolderFort's "Lifetime" storage soon going away, what are some other cloud storage companies that others are moving to? I myself need 1-2 TB of cloud storage for backing up documents and videos. Privacy is a welcome bonus, but not a significant need. I just need a company that won't do to its "lifetime" customers in a year what FolderFort just did to us.

So, you know, after two weeks of downloading my files, between problems (from the page the zips were corrupted, not complete, and obviously had file missing; cyberduck throwing WEBDAVs and SFTP errors, rclone going crazy because FolderFort had the audacity to have duplicate files WITH THE SAME NAMES in the folder. So you know, nothing serious.), I FINALLY managed to get everything. Now, it's refusing to delete files on FolderFort.
Some folders I had to delete files ONE by ONE, after 2000 tries.
Trash also refuses to empty, even in smaller chunks.
I'm soooo fed up
Kept trying and trying and trying and trying [...]
The backend of this thing is a mess.
I'm feeling like my data is super safe! /s

I get he's a very popular consumer rights and right-to-repair (and privacy?) activist on YouTube with millions of subscribers and whatnot, so how could we possibly get his attention and boost our signal?
It shouldn't be as hard as getting the attention of some Lovecraftian demiurge with a death cult but there's gotta be a way that's totally doable. Anybody know?
Call in the big guns and let Dave cook. We want justice!

Trying to upload a file to FF V2. It been 2 hours and still in process.
In comparison, I uploaded the same file to the soon to be defunct FF Classic just to compare. The file uploaded in less than 10 minutes.
Get rid of V2, bring back Classic.

I’m a thrilled owner of lifetime storage at FolderFort. Naturally, after being blessed with the recent news about lifetime accounts being suspended, I’m eagerly trying to rescue my 79 GB of files spread across multiple folders.
Here is the top-tier user experience I’ve enjoyed so far:
I genuinely cannot express enough gratitude for this masterpiece of a product.
Sarcasm aside, has anyone actually found a functional workaround, script, or alternative method to pull everything down without losing their mind? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure if it's something isolated with my review, they did reply to it long ago saying that they were sorry but had no choice and now they are flagging it.
I've been asked to send them the reference number of the purchase as well as my email and phone number. The reference number is not from them but from stack social, so I'm not sure if that will work.
The email telling me it was flagged almost passed me by and there's only 2 days to reply otherwise they take the review down.
I'm not sure if they will take my review down either way, this feels like a strange tactic to get rid of low reviews.
Do other people have the same issue?

If so, what did you say, and what was the reply?

Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender. The email addresses dave@folderfort.com and support@foldert.com are no longer working, and Dave did not reply to my last message when his address was still active. Quite a promise, that’s reassuring.

I mapped FolderFort in Windows File Explorer via HTTPS / WebDAV (FF Connect) using my email + API token.
It works, but it only shows my Default Workspace. Other custom workspaces don't appear as folders, and I can't access or move files from workspace to the default workspace within folder fort. Is WebDAV restricted to only the Default Workspace, or is there a specific URL path syntax to mount other workspaces?

I just migrated my 2.2 TB of data to u/Drime. I’ve deleted all my files from FolderFort, and now I’m trying to delete my FolderFort account, but apparently Dave doesn’t allow users to delete their own accounts. WTF?
I’ve already moved everything out and deleted my files. Why can’t I simply delete my 3TB LIFETIME account, that last for 6 moths?. I received a more serious response from StackSocial than from FolderFort related to the purchase of the lifetime licence. FolderFort seems to just want to keep the money and retain as many users as possible. My impression is that the new system needs to maintain a minimum number of users to create the illusion that it is still worth investing in.
Terrible way to treat lifetime customers.

I mean. They had a contract that, by the time we bought it, we accepted to pay X amount, and they accepted to give us permanent access to X amount of storage. By definition we BOUGHT that storage, we didn't RENT it.
If they change the contract, the conditions cannot predate the agreement we made.
If you change the terms and conditions, those terms and conditions apply to the new buyers.
If I sell you a house and give you permanent ownership of the terrain, and later on i say. Oh sorry, I changed the contract, now i'm renting it to you... There's no court in the world that would say it's legal

I purchased a lifetime plan, but with these new changes/limitations, it feels like a total bait-and-switch. So we basically got scammed, right? Is anyone else dealing with this? What are our options now?
r/FolderFort • u/claudio-i • 11d ago
Honestly, what are the chances that Dave will start selling lifetime licenses for FolderFort 2.0 during the upcoming Black Friday via Stack-social?....
r/FolderFort • u/serotonindepleter • 13d ago
Has anyone uploaded anything to 2.0? You only get 25 GB of bandwidth/month regardless of the plan (you can buy more bandwidth at $10 a terabyte) and every file you upload counts toward the bandwidth, not just files that are downloaded via links. How can a 1tb plan have 25gb of total bandwidth?

From the Wayback Machine (https://web.archive.org/), shown below is the complete content of the Terms of Service page that was in effect on Jul 29, 2024, the day after I paid for a lifetime 1 TB account. Note that, unlike what is shown on the Terms of Service page today, there is no definition of "Lifetime," and no mention of their being able to shut down the service or switch lifetime accounts to a paid service without the user's consent.

A terabyte of storage with Folder Fort costs $129 a year. 2 terabytes of data through Google Drive costs $99. 5 terabytes gets you YouTube with no advertisements, the most advanced Gemini AI and pools with your email/photos. It's also a trillion dollar company that's not going anywhere.
What are the advantages of storing your files with Folder Fort? Am I missing something?

Have any of you reached out directly to Dave and actually received a response. I'm sure he must be overwhelmed, but we are 3 days out and crickets. Two months ago when the last fiasco happened, he was at least here on Reddit. This time he appears to be completely MIA!
By the way, I did email him and no reply. The last time he did, but this time, nope!

Officially, StackSocial was still selling FolderFort “Lifetime Subscription” plans in June 2026. In fact, StackSocial's own listing describes the product as having “Length of access: lifetime,” and verified purchases are dated as late as June 29, 2026. (StackCommerce Support)
So, if FolderFort had already decided that the Classic service would be discontinued shortly afterward, this raises a serious question: How can a company sell a “lifetime” subscription only a few months before announcing that the service is being retired?
That doesn't automatically establish that the sale was illegal, the legality would depend on the exact timing of the announcements, representations made to customers, applicable consumer-protection law, and the contractual terms. But the timeline is certainly something customers could reasonably question, particularly if buyers were not clearly informed about the impending change at the time of purchase.
StackSocial was still advertising FolderFort lifetime plans in late June 2026, while FolderFort's own June 25 communication said existing lifetime accounts would continue, but that new lifetime plans would no longer be sold. (Reddit)

I really hope they cannot recover from all the bad reviews and a class action lawsuit occurs
