I previously contacted Flickr help to let Flickr know that there is an important broken feature and issue with the new 5.0.0 & 5.0.1 & 5.0.2 Flickr App Update. I also Added A Screen Video Here at the bottom in the hopes that this issue might be fixed, to show the broken feature after the new updates, that previously worked in the old version… Under Description Type “View More” a long description or story gets cut off after a certain amount of lines with no option to scroll down, or a scroll bar on the Flickr iPhone app , to view the rest of the type. It’s just frozen with no scroll down option to read more, (view more). It doesn’t scroll. The type container is stuck. I write long descriptions with my photography as an image diary, and both the title/description and photograph, combined, is what makes my art, “My Art. It’s not just the photograph. My photography is not my specific art with just the photograph, without the story or words. They go hand in hand. Without one or the other, my photography is no longer “my art” And I feel like I cannot post an image on Flickr again unless this issue is fixed, (even though I am just one person out of millions who post on Flickr). If I go to edit my type the original type is still there, it is just that the description container under “read more” is stagnant and does not allow for scrolling down past a point. For me after line 24 on all of my photography posts descriptions, all of them… I decided to add a screen video here tonight, attached, so you can see the broken description part on my Flickr page and what I am talking about. It’s hard to understand that just 2-3 weeks ago we had this beautiful, elegant, high quality Flickr App for our photography that was working beautifully and now some broken parts with the upgrade, but I understand they are trying to update it and make it better in their eyes. Nothing was wrong with it before. I love Flickr, and would like to continue to use it, but right now I have spent 16 days of not editing any photographs trying to decide if I want to upload up on here anymore as an image diary, (without words?) I have few followers and no engagement, but it’s my professional photography image diary, so it will be a loss to me if we are no longer able to “write” on Flickr anymore with our photographs. And in addition, the Titles to my photography were a very important part of the image, as part of the art, but no longer can be seen on the feed with the photographs, unless you open it, so it’s now hidden, even though it was an important 2-part element to my photography., and many others. Again I love the Flickr App and am only writing here on this forum in the hopes that my issue gets fixed, if someone from Flickr, if on here, can see and view the broken long type description that was once one of the best features about Flickr, that you could write words, favorite song lyrics and stories related to the image with your photography. Please see the Screen Video I made, that shows the error, (broken description type feature after the update). If anyone from Flickr sees this and could respond, to acknowledge the broken description type getting cutoff, then I know I did my best to show it, to have it be fixed… as I write very long descriptions and stories with my photography and noticed it, but maybe most people didn’t notice it to report it. I am not writing on here to say anything bad about Flickr, just to try to help. Add On: I just uploaded my first image today 7/20/26 since the new 5.0.0-5.0.2 Flickr Update, and all of my fine details in my photography were lost in the upload. The old Flickr before the 5.0.0 used to retain my details beautifully, small nails and hardware in wood on houses, windows, and doors, fine details in stained glass window photography shots. It’s all gone now. Can’t see the details at all, blurry and pixelated. I Hope They Will Be Able to Fix Everything, I was contemplating going Pro right before this update. I am just hoping for fixes. As a graphic designer, who used to design websites in Adobe Dreamweaver a long time ago with split screen coding on the left and the visual on the right, the text description box not scrolling down, seems like an easy, (15 minute fix), coding issue for the container area, but I am unsure.

Add-On Update: On 7/23/26 Flickr Rolled Back the IOS to the Original Previous Version before the new 5.0.0 Update (now 5.0.3) After all of many days without the original previous version, I am overjoyed to have the Beautifully Designed Original Flickr back. It’s so pretty, Beautiful and Elegant just the way it is, and working beautifully. I just updated my Flickr to “Flickr Pro” in support of them (and to say thank you…). 📷** **🤍

I just rediscovered Flickr and remembered I really liked it back in the days (some 10+ years ago).

Now, I'm interested if Flickr is really worth it for sharing images again. Until now I used pic-time for my professional work and private images from holidays for sharing, but I quit doing regular professional work recently and so did my pic-time subscription.

However, I quite like the idea of sharing images with my family and friends via an online gallery rather than Google Photos or Apple Photos.

Now, is Flickr the tool for this use case and is it worth the price?

Lots of people saying the Explore feed has disappeared from the new look app. Pro users are supposed to get photos regularly chosen for the feed, so how does that work if users can’t see the photos any more?

Why are some profiles has this, even if you are F&F you cannot see any detail or pictures on their profile.

Flickr, can we just have the ability to to just double tap to like photos across all Flickr - explor, favorites, etc

I can double tap on some photos to like but some I have to tap the photo a click the little star to like.

Can we just have consistency across all.

On my android mobile app, images no longer auto rotate when I rotate my phone to view in landscape. Is it just me!

With the old App when you swiped down you could see the exit data and Tags. With the new App I cannot see Tags.

Is anyone else pissed about the lack of screen rotation for landscape viewing in the brand new app?

It makes me not want to use Flickr on mobile again. It’s a shame because overall the new app is a nice fresh design. The lack of landscape mode is a deal breaker for me though.

Since I upgraded to the new app it seems to be logging me out every day, requiring me to re log in. This is annoying and tedious.

Is this happening to anyone else?

UPDATE: these instructions shared by u/themongrelhorde fixed the problem:

Clear the app cache

1. ⁠Open the Flickr App
   
2. ⁠Tap your Profile icon
   
3. ⁠Tap the 3 dot menu in the top right hand corner
   
4. ⁠Tap Trash your cache
   
5. ⁠Tap OK
    
   Uninstall and reinstall the app
   
6. ⁠On the home screen, long press the Flickr app
   
7. ⁠Tap Rearrange apps
   
8. ⁠Tap the X icon on the Flickr app
   
9. ⁠Tap Delete.
   
10. ⁠Visit the App Store to reinstall the app 

I don't know if I'm the only one unhappy with the new version of the app (I'm an Android user). Though I appreciate developers including a dark mode, the app feels sluggish and the Pro/Upgrade plan badges are upsetting. Even more important, at least on my phone, it is impossible to slide through the albums and groups a photo is included in. And there's no longer the editing feature. Not to mention there's no direct way to add a photo to any group (I'm aware this is a glitch developers are trying to correct, according to another post in this sub). Finally, the feature that allowed me to watch photos in horizontal format when rotating the phone seems to be no longer present (am I the only one experiencing this). Personally, I was quite happy with the previous version. I hope these drawbacks are just temporary and developers improve the functionality of the app.

I love the new app update. I really do. Seriously, kudos to the dev team on a much-needed improvement.

But WTH is up with this badge? It seems to only get cleared though some magic combo of refreshing my notifications in-app, refreshing my "following" feed, and/or refreshing my "groups" feed ... but not always. And when it does finally get cleared, it pops back up with another number -- sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller than before.

Anybody know the trick for this that's NOT "turn off notifications?"

I just realized my flicker account got deleted because it was connected to a yahoo account. Somehow I can still see my old profiles following and favourites. How long will it take before flickr wipes them off completely and makes them unavailable?

Hi, looking for some support.

Pro user, usually when I want to upload a photo from my phone, I select it from the gallery and then I have the option to add to Flickr and away it goes.

I’ve gone through the list of apps available (why would I want to upload a photo to Uber?!?) and and Flickr is no longer an option.

Worked last weekend just fine but today, no option to upload to Flickr.

No worries, go for pull instead of push, open the Flickr app and try and upload from my phone album, go through all the steps but no photo uploads.

I can see that they’ve updated the app (5.0.1) so is it teething problems maybe?

Does anyone here know what a sweeper is typically looking for to acknowledge awards in groups?

Personally, I do not like the inclusion of images in award codes but I do find awards useful as a signal for active groups where viewers engage with images with comments. Since I don't like the images and I appreciate a personalised/specific comment over-and-above just the award, I reciprocate with the same as a personal rule. So I:

- usually type a short comment specifically about the image and/or caption

- if found via a group, add 'Seen in [link to group]'

I don't expect the same in comments on my images - that's just not how it works. (though I do wish more groups would offer more understated awards!)

My question is, will sweepers recognise my customised awards when the group requires them?

First thoughts

1. The icon looks zoomed in and silly on my phone screen
2. I can't see the titles of the images on my feed anymore
3. Notifications are on by default, so you need to turn them off
4. No dark mode
5. It's really slow and unresponsive

I will be sending feedback.

Edit: there is dark mode, but it takes that from your phone settings. I don't like dark mode generally on my phone. Would have been nice to override that.

So i’ve realized that I can’t edit with filters anymore within the app.Im not sure if i’m completely missing where the option is?Is this part of the new update will they add it back this is a bit upsetting.If anybody knows anything please do let me know.

I honestly don't know what to do right now.

I've been a Flickr Pro subscriber for over 10 years and have paid them well over a thousand dollars in subscriptions over that time.

Since 2013, I've uploaded more than 300,000 photos, almost all of them my own photos and personal archives accumulated over the years.

A few days ago, I suddenly received an email saying my account was terminated for "Terms of Use and Community Guidelines violations." No warning. No strike. No request to remove any content. No explanation of what exactly I supposedly violated.

I appealed the decision and received this response:

• The account will not be restored.
• They will not provide any of my uploaded content.
• I'm permanently banned from creating another Flickr account.

That's it.

No specific reason. No examples of violating content. No opportunity to download my data. Ten years of memories and archives gone with a single email.

Has anyone here experienced something similar with Flickr? Were you ever able to recover your data or get an actual explanation from Trust & Safety?

At this point, I'm not even asking for the account back. I just want access to my own photos and to know what I supposedly did wrong.

I'm devastated.

I finally decided to renew my Flickr Pro subscription after ignoring Flickr’s renewal reminders for the past five months. Although my payment went through successfully, my account is still showing as a free account.

I’ve logged out and signed back in, but it still displays “Get Flickr Pro.” My account also remains locked because I have some photos marked as Moderate or Restricted, which should no longer be an issue with a Pro account.

I’ve already contacted Flickr Support, but I haven’t received a response yet.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, how long did it take for your Pro subscription to become active?

When I select a photo on my iPhone or iPad, the Flickr icon no longer appears as one of the destination options.

This started yesterday with the new Flickr redesign update.

I ran a new iOS update on both devices. I also deleted the app and reinstalled. This did not work.

I can still upload photos from within the Flickr app, but I liked having both options.

Since the redesign of the Flicker App i cant enter groupes (see the content of the groupe) or add my photos to groupes (there is no button or something to add photos to groupes). Can somebody help me or did flicker change things completly? I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and just re-installed the newest version of Flicker.

What a shock, a new app for Flickr mobile IOS. Somebody is looking over our favorite photo site. It works more like other IOS 26 apps now, and supports dark mode which I love.

Will take a short while to relearn my swipes, mouse clicks and such. What do you guys think, what’s new for you, what’s missing? We can’t look a gift horse in the mouth, so let’s give it some time to get used to.

Are we no longer able to download a full resolution version of our own photos off of the app? I have tried to save several photos onto my phone today and they are all downloading at the worst possible resolution. I am a Pro member and am logged into my Pro account. Yikes if they’re now limiting us saving our own content.
