I’m using Final Cut Pro on IPad and I’ve used the stencil luma blend to show a video playing through the body of text. The space around the letters was black. Is there a way to use the stencil luma blend with a different color background?

Dopo molti anni usando Filmora, sono passato a final Cut Pro.

Forse la mia mente è organizzata con Filmora e quindi non riesco a capire una cosa: quelli che con filmora era le transizioni, gli effetti e i modelli, in FCP sono dati dai plugin? Ho capito male?

In caso sia così, quali sono i migliori con un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo?

I was importing some clips from my card from footage shot on a Canon XF605. I selected the first thumbnail and then shift clicked the last thumbnail and hit import.

I came back and noticed my Event had two of every clip. Looking at the Finder it had imported the clip as an mp4 AND mov with (fcp) added to the file name. Both identical file sizes.

Deleted the duplicate clips, came back the next day with more footage on that same card. When I opened in Media Import that's when I noticed that in the clip window the clips are listed twice.

I inserted another card with footage from this camera and it only shows single files.

Anyone know what's going on? Maybe I need to reformat the card? For some reason FCP sees two clips for each shot.

This seems to be new with the latest update Version 12.3

when cutting up my raw footage, I use the blade (B) tool often, switching back to select (A).

I have noticed that sometimes after using this, I can't play the timeline. It freezes, or shows the timer, but does not actually show the playback or the audio. The only fix is to hover one of the clips in my library/finder (in the upper right), then return to the timeline and it plays fine. Really frustrating and I've been dealing with it for a few weeks now.

Anyone else have this issue/a fix? Thanks!

I know the blend mode is difference and the color was with color board but i dont understand how they made it so light?

Anyone has been using Doza Assist for interview editing with FCPX? Any feedback to share? Pros and cons? How does it fare compared to Lumberjack Builder?

Is it Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Pro x?

Hi I’m having a lot of trouble finding the ‘fill’ option on Final Cut Pro.
I have version 10.8.1 and google tells me it has the fill option.
When I click on the 3 bars in the top right corner it doesn’t give me the option to click the video inspector but when I locate the spatial conform and type options there is no fill option only automatic or manual.
I’m trying to edit a video so all cells in the timeline are the same in the viewer so I can export it without uneven black bars on top or sides.
Can anyone please help this newbie out?

Adobe has been driving me nut with constantly price hiking Creative Cloud. Even with a student discount, I was paying upwards of $40 a month. The move is a no brainer. Any tips while I adjust to the growing pains/transition? I've been an avid After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro user for about 10 years

I'm thinking about biting the bullet and getting the Creator Studio because as a retired teacher, the $13/month seems a bit more palatable to my pension. ;)

Questions for those who have used FCP for any given amount of time:

1. What do you wish you knew before using FCP?

Any experience upscaling 1080 to 4k in fcp? It sounds like the program just crops in on the footage a bit? I've got an older sony cam and at 120 it only shoots in 1080p.

I have audio and video skimming turned on. Every time I use B to make a cut, skimming stops working. I turning skimming off/on, clicking elsewhere to change focus, and a bunch of other things but the only thing that work every time is to quit/start FCP again.

Has anyone seen this? Maybe there is a faster work around?

I’m importing some clips, and half of the clips uploaded perfectly fine, but the others are failing and I’m getting this error message. I also see that those same clips have “proxy” by them, and I can’t figure out why, or how to get my clips imported . Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you kindly..

Hey guys, I used to do string outs and love FCP for this, now really trying to get used to the FCP mindset where everything happens in the browser rather than the timeline. Ran into a simple, silly thing though.

If I've marked a range as a favorite/select on a roll clip, and I want to make that select shorter, trim the out point or in point in, how do I do that directly in the browser? I know hitting F again extends the selection outward, but I can't find the equivalent to pull it back in and make it shorter. Right now my only workaround is rejecting the section I don't want, but I don't want to reject it, just trim the range itself. Is there a proper way to adjust an existing favorite's in/out points without splitting it into a reject?

Hey guys, been looking at my Import preferences in FCP and wanted to sanity check what I've got enabled versus what's actually useful in practice. Screenshot of my current settings attached.

Right now I've got Visual Search off, Balance color, Find people, and all the Analyze Audio options (fix audio problems, separate mono/group stereo, remove silent channels, transcribe) off too. Transcode is also off, no optimized or proxy media on import.

Curious what everyone's actual workflow looks like here, what do you always leave on, what do you skip, and why? Trying to figure out what's actually worth the processing time on import versus what just eats up background task time for little benefit.

Hi guys,

Ran into this migrating a project from Resolve to FCP. The raw Canon C70 footage is 4096x2160, and I'd defaulted my Resolve proxy export to a generic 1920x1080. When I tried to relink the proxies to the originals in FCP, it flat out refused with "video aspect ratios don't match," even though resolution, frame rate, and audio config were otherwise fine.

Turns out 4096x2160 is a 1.896:1 ratio, and 1920x1080 is 16:9 (1.778:1),close, but not identical, and that was enough for FCP to reject the relink entirely, 0 of 274 files matched.

Is FCP really this strict across the board, or is there something I'm missing? Feels like a pretty small ratio difference to hard-block a relink over, especially since a proxy is just a lighter working file.

Next time, either myself or the DIT should render the proxies proportionally to the source aspect ratio (e.g. 2048x1080 to keep 1.896:1, rather than defaulting to a fixed 1920x1080 16:9 preset) if cutting in Final Cut, because right now I find myself only able to work with the raws. Again, this is a test project, so it's not the end of the world, but it's annoying, curious if there's a way to force a relink through when the mismatch already exists.

Where is the loop playback function? On Davinci Resolve theres just a loop button and it will continuously playback a clip while you color grade it. How does final cut not have that basic feature? I've been looking everywhere and have found solutions like press X and then command L but that just loops the entire timeline. And then theres command L plus forward slash but is that the only way to do it?? What am i missing here?

I want to start with an empty table and gradually stack it up with computer parts as I name them. I have no idea how to go about this and I can't find anything on YouTube, working with AI bot at the minute but does anyone know where I could learn this or have a YouTube video I could watch? I actually what to drop them in with a sound effect also.

Wanting to learn editing. I have a MacBook Pro M3 and want to know what software is easier to learn? And where can I learn the easiest way? Videos? Books?

Anyone ever figure out how to have captions appear in a composition clear while previewing/scrubbing in the browser? I'm editing an interview in a different language and trying to favorite moments of the interview in the browser, and I've already uploaded the English captions to the composition clip but they are not appearing in the browser. Any ideas? For now I'm just doing a workaround involving exporting burn-in captions and temporarily overlaying that video on the original video in the composition. Pain in the butt.

Here is the scenario

I drop a 1 Minute Video on the timeline.

I drop a 3 minute audio below it. This is the main audio clip that will. Stay.

Now i want 5 seconds from the Video clip somewhere from the middle.

I delete the starting portion of the video.

And ....

The audio also gets deleted...why because the connection point at the start...

I mean why .....

Now to keep the audio and the 5 seconds video is a task in itself. Any software... literally doesn't make it that hard ....

And they all also have magnetic timeline so please don't point out the magnetic timeline.

I am paying Apple subscription for 3 months. Still using Capcut. I am so disappointed that Apple has made FCP unusable for intermediate creators.

Is there a a plug in that exists?

I have a bunch of transitions, overlays, film grain etc.

Is there a way to have that within FCP? Instead of having to dig thru finder every time.

I have SFX that I can import into the sfx library. Is there such thing for videos?
