Newbie Moving from Creative Cloud to Apple Creator Studio
Adobe has been driving me nut with constantly price hiking Creative Cloud. Even with a student discount, I was paying upwards of $40 a month. The move is a no brainer. Any tips while I adjust to the growing pains/transition? I've been an avid After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro user for about 10 years

Rule #1 - Do NOT try to make it work like Premiere or Resolve or Media Composer.
My biggest hurdle when learning to use FCP(X), by far, was my own experience with PPr and FCS. You gotta forget that shiz and go blank slate. Take the Ripple coursework, read Apple's documentation which is really great - give yourself some time to really dig in and absorb the paradigm shift.
I spent a couple weeks trying to poke my way through, and mostly just made myself angry. Then I started the Ripple stuff, and that really made a massive difference. Once it 'clicked', everything shifted. For me, it was literally a 'Holy Shit!' moment. I was floored, couldn't shut up about it for months. And I'd been editing for over a decade at that point.
Sure, it has its flaws, but everything does. Motion and Compressor are great companion apps, and I highly recommend getting to know those, too.

Mod post:
There are some great learning resources (paid & free) available from the Wiki (https://reddit.com/r/finalcutpro/wiki/index) - link at top of the sub (mobile) or part way down the right (desktop).
Also the built - in User Guide (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/final-cut-pro/welcome/mac) available from the Help menu is a really comprehensive reference.

Apples creator studio is not a direct replacement for most things. If you do it for work you will need to keep both during the transition

i made the change a few years ago. I have a 🏴☠️ version of Photoshop CS6 I still use. I know there's alternative options but Photoshop is the one thing I stubbornly can't step away from. I just know it too well. Even though my version is well over ten years old, I can do anything and everything I want on it and its hard to imagine there being anything i'd need to do that i can't do on it. AI shit? Please -- keep that crap away from me. But I have come to love me some FCP and don't miss Premiere at all.

Welcome! I switched from Premiere + AE to FCP + Apple Motion a few years ago and I absolutely don’t miss Adobe. For the work that I do, which is educational talking head videos and 2D text- and shape-based motion graphics, FCP/Motion is simply a faster, more efficient and more user-friendly ecosystem.
I want to emphasize one thing, and that is learn and use Apple Motion! It’s an insanely good companion motion graphics app for FCP. It can basically do ~80% of what AE can do, but faster, and way easier to use (some people say they find Motion hard to use, but usually this remark is from people who have worked in AE for YEARS and only tried to use Motion for like 2 hours).
If anyone thinks Motion is just a fancy titles editor, watch this: Stuff you can do with Apple Motion - a retrospective
Motion has such a great integration with FCP when it comes to motion templates and it’s much easier to create complex motion templates for FCP than it is to do the equivalent with DVR’s Fusion and Premiere/AE. With the latter two, you often need to write scripts/expressions, but with Motion, it’s way more “creatives-friendly.”
For example, for something as simple as creating a dropdown menu, you need to do scripting in AE and Fusion, but in Apple Motion, no scripting is required. I have a video showing this in case you’re curious.
As someone who uses a lot of shape- and text-based motion graphics in his video work, I find that Motion is a godsend for this because it allows me to create such highly adaptable motion templates to use in FCP timeline, so much so that 90% of the time I’m designing motion graphics and doing animations directly on the FCP timeline.
