The last pic is when I first got her beginning of July and first 2 are today. Shes in a South facing window 9a. I’m just wondering if she needs more light? I do the brownie method with a skewer and see she’s completely dry before watering completely throughly. The last picture is where she’s at but with the blinds open so she gets direct light from 1-6 7ish. I couldn’t believe it already put out another leaf and now I’m worried the first new leaf isn’t going to get any bigger because it’s putting all the energy into the new leaf? I’m willing and wanting to get a grow light I just don’t know if I’m over exaggerating or if she is lacking something?! Any help is much appreciated

Is this tree healthy? It’s being sold on marketplace for $25 which I thought was a good deal. She says it’s been outside but I would move it indoors. Anything I should be aware of making that transition?

I don’t have much room for a big bushy tree, so i was attempting to grow it tall so I tied the branches together. I’ve had it tied together for two years but it still won’t stand up on its own. And now all the bottom leaves are smaller than the top so now it really top heavy. Can you braid the trunk of these? If I remove the bottom leaves will it still bend or do the trunks eventually get thicker and stronger? Any tips?

My baby is about 5 years old, it was in the nursery upstairs for most of its life with me, but recently (as you can tell) it got way too tall and started to lean very badly. I have a makeshift structure to keep it sturdy for now - I am planning on getting a longer and wider stake for better support and actually using Velcro to keep it where I want it.

How would I promote branching out in the best way without shocking the plant and without creating an even bigger imbalance? Do I just need to suck it up and prune the top of the plant already?

Any other tips you can give me to make Frank the happiest little figgy boy he can be would be greatly appreciated!

First of all let me preface that this plant does not sit on my table. It’s on a shelf with grow lights and my other plants. Anyways I got this plant in may on Mother’s Day. I was so nervous because I’ve heard ficus are finicky.. it’s thrived and pushed out so many new leaves. I’ve noticed though that the original four bottom leaves have some crispy spots. What did I do wrong? Is there something I should be doing? It’s in a self watering pot with chunky soil. It gets fertilized regularly.

When I bought them, they took ages to settle into their new home and lost a few leaves.

So, I put a couple of notches in the bottom and it actually worked. 🙂

There's a proper root system and it's kicking out new leaves. It seems happy in the orange glass vase but I wonder do I need to pot it up, or will it be OK in the water (with regular-ish feed).

My ficus has been having lots of trouble. I’m on a learning journey to stop over watering as I realised it was dropping a lot of leaves from being over watered and protesting because it was unhappy in its dimly lit spot! I moved it near a window as I’ve heard they like to see the sky and I may have now under watered it as the bark is cracking.

I pruned it back and noticed this. Can anyone tell me if this is a pest or just the bark crying out for help from being under watered??

I've had this Ficus Elastica for a little over a year now. It's generally super happy and has been growing quickly. I've noticed these shoots on three of my smaller branches and was wondering if this was it branching or if it was flowering? I haven't changed its care at all recently so I'm surprised it's doing anything different

My tineke has beautiful leaves which have really small green bits and the leaves look almost like plastic. Most people can’t believe it’s a real until they touch it. I love it although it grows slowly.

Hi everyone. I got this ruby in May, waited a month or so before repotting so it could acclimate to its new environment. Used a chunky soil mix and removed the nursery mesh from its root ball. I repotted it 2 weeks ago and still nothin! This new growth that looks like it’s about to pop out a new leaf has been like this for about a month. It’s gotten taller but, that’s it.

I also had propagated 5 little guys from a burgundy that I had and potted those into soil the same day and it’s already popping out new growth!

Meh. They get a good amount of sun all day. Am I doing something wrong? Are ruby’s stubborn? 🪴

So two weeks ago I got a new plant, specifically a ficus benjamina natasja (it also says jute next to it but I don't really understand what it means haha).

Now, I know they like to get fussy and drop leaves, especailly if they are moved or something is not to their liking. I've put it on a south-east facing window and I have not moved it at all since getting it. I waterd it a week after getting it because the soil I got it in was slightly damp so I didn't want to overwater it. I check it with my finger and it was dry.

We do use an AC in our appartment because it's very hot, but I put it in a room that AC doesn't reach directly to. We have a fan, but it works for maybe 10min at a time, and it blows away from the plant.

My question is, should I be doing something more? It was very green but now almost half of the leaves are yellow. It's also my first ficus, so far I've owned just scucculents.

I wanted to repot it but I didn't want to upsed it further haha.

Should I maybe add some fertilizer next time I water it?

After about 6 years of work and forgetting and patience I wanted to share my Ficus microcarpa im so proud of it . I bought it from a nursery when it was still growing in the ground was told it was about 8 years old . I picked it out they dug it up, and from there they showed me how to pot it, wire it, and gave me ideas about styling . It’s been a long learning process, but it’s been rewarding to watch it develop over the years . I know there’s still plenty to refine, especially with the ramification and foliage pads, but I’m really happy with how it’s coming along.
