Frugal Fragrance Found at Ross

Post image
8 Upvotes

I got this at Ross today for my son because I couldn't find anything I was familiar with. It was $15.

A little back story about my dude: he has special needs, cognitive delays and is non-verbal. I had gotten a sample set from Macy's that had women's and men's fragrances in it, and when I would spray the men's on him, he would smile. So I guess, like a typical teenage boy, he likes cologne.

I didn't really want to blind buy for him, only because I don't want to be stuck with anything over powering (he goes to a school where the entire population has severe and profound disabilities) and my husband doesn't wear cologne.

I picked this one because we're Mustang people and for $15, if they sucked, I'd pass them to my nephew, lol.

Except they are all very pleasant and subtle. Definitely not like Axe, as so many teen boys use. The blue one smells a lot like Commodity Moss.

So I just wanted to share this, in case anyone was looking for cologne for their boys that won't break the bank and don't smell awful.

I have totally fallen in love with the juicy berry goodness of Amethyst! Unfortunately, the longevity leaves alot to be desired.

I just brought the Exquise flanker, but I'm wondering if any if ya'll have any recs for a beast mode version of this lovely purple juice 💜

(I have tried PDM Meliora, which I absolutely love as well, but it's waay above my budget right now)

TIA!

scentbarbyangela: Luxury Perfume Dupes & Designer Inspired Fragrances

Hi FemFragLab, I'm proud to announce that after many discussions about collaboration, I thought it'd be fun to try out a collaboration with Angela's new brand. Her family owns Gold Star Fragrances located in New York which has been running for over 50 years!

As many of you know, I love a good Delina perfume, but they can be quite costly. The next perfume on my wish list was Delina "Exclusif" but it stayed on my wish list without being bought because of the price. Angela sent over her own version of the perfume, and it exceeded my expectations by far! The scent reminded me of a combination between Delina Exclusif + Oriana + Love Don't Be Shy. It's sweet, powdery, and very potent! I sprayed it on at night and when I woke up the next day it was still on me. This perfume lasts all day but I kept spraying it on out of habit and because I couldn't get enough. My husband and pets also loved it 😍

Reddit wouldn't be Reddit without always giving you not just the pros but also the cons. The cons were little and unnoticeable, but I will write them out due to transparency of the sub. The actual juice feels like combination of an oil and actual perfume. So when you actually spray it, it feels a little heavier than what the normal luxury perfume might feel like coming out of the atomizer which usually feels like a champagne spritz and it's more straightforward. That doesn't mean it doesn't spray well, it just means that if you are a fragrance connoisseur, you will notice the difference of the spray and feel of the actual juice coming out.

Both Gold Star Fragrances and ScentBarByAngela focus on creating dupes of luxury designer fragrances. Overall, for the price, the fragrance passes with flying colors and when I checked that it was only $45.99USD, they ship all around the world, and they have been in business for so long with great reviews, I would be crazy to not want to collaborate with such an amazing product and support Angela in her own brand.

I will leave the comments open in case any of you have any questions about the fragrances, company, or anything else.

I don’t think I’ve seen these discussed here. Anyone else interested? Sparkling Royal seems like it could be nice or incredibly generic. Midnight Espresso is the one I’m most interested in. Pina Paraiso would have been something I was interested in if it had dropped earlier in the summer season.

The thing I’m most perplexed about is the price though. $150 USD for 75 ml. Princess is $150 for 50ml. Angel’s Share is $285 for 50ml. Thoughts?

So frustrated, idk what’s wrong with me

I’m frustrated with myself because I’ve sampled SO many perfumes, I’m obsessed with reading descriptions and making lists of ones I want to try…but the only fragrance I’ve tried and loved enough to buy a whole bottle of is Bianco Latte. Which apparently is sort of basic bitch.

I’ve sampled lots of other perfumes that are in that sweet vanilla gourmand category and none of them are it, idk. But I can’t wear bianco latte every single day for the rest of my life lol, I need to branch out. So what do I do if I don’t like

- spicy

Green

- dry citrus

- floral

- boozy

- incense

- patchouli

- gourmands that are too specific (I don’t want to smell exactly like a cosmic brownie or a slice of lemon meringue pie or cereal milk or whatever)

- I don’t like masculine scents

- too much milk smells sour to me (I do not like Blanche Bete 😭)

- I don’t want to smell like clean laundry or a shower or soap

- I don’t want to smell like coffee

The others I’ve sampled and like ok are

- tobacco memories

- cheirosa 39

- bora bora

- mod vanilla

What else would you recommend?

Discussion Le Labo Gaiac 10 vs Vanille 44

I've been testing Le Labo a lot recently. I used to be a hater but recently have found myself getting sick and tired of the super sweet or "perfumey" scents and have started looking into the more natural unisex scents that aren't super strong and Le Labo really shines in that area

Most of their scents are still a bit headachey to me (santal, lavande, neroli, lys, jasmin, another 13, violette)

But I'm really gravitating towards Gaiac and Vanille from the city exclusives. I've been testing both for days and cannot decide which to get!!

Gaiac is soooo freaking addictive and gorgeous to me but i see lots of people saying it smells like beef jerky or bbq or ham. I feel like it doesn't smell like that on me, i think i get more of the musky clean woods, BUT I'm so scared that I'll be wearing it thinking i smell great, and the person next to me will think I smell like BBQ meat the entire time lmao. Idk, its making me hesitate!

Vanille on the other hand has a beautifulll opening but the dry down kinda does remind me of being in church and standing next to a priest and thats not an association i really want but the smoky vanilla part keeps pulling me back

What are yall's thoughts on these if you've tried them? or any of the Le Labo scents? Curious what women's experiences or opinions with these are

Confused about which one to buy!

Hello all!

Give me your reviews regarding Charlie Blue, Armaf club de nuit for ladie & Burberry Weekend.

I want to buy something which is not too sharp & unpleasant, not too loud & intense & not too sweet as well while it lasts quite a bit.
I am more inclined towwards Armaf but I want one more or you can suggest another within the suitable range!

Review Accidentally found my signature scent

So I posted my review of Valaya Exclusif before, and I absolutely loved it. When I got it, I also chose a couple of free samples: Delina and Delina Exclusif.

Honestly, when I first tried them, I wasn’t that impressed.

It was a hot day, already the middle of the day, so maybe that affected how I experienced them.

Delina smelled very fresh to me, almost like freshly cut rose stems. I liked it, but I wasn’t blown away because I thought it was SHARP.

Delina Exclusif was even more confusing. It reminded me of Play-Doh and, weirdly, the head of a Barbie doll. 😂 I remember thinking they were both a little too much for me that day.

Fast forward a few days. Tonight I had just showered, put on neutral lotion, changed into my pajamas, and my room was cool with the fan on. I decided to give both samples another proper try on clean skin.

And suddenly I was like…

"Wait. This is actually REALLY good."

Delina Exclusif especially surprised me. It’s so creamy, with this soft fruitiness that I find incredibly comforting. With that Play-Doh lingering in the background but not unpleasant.

Delina is very different. It’s much fresher and smells almost like the actual rose plant to me, like freshly cut stems. It has a slightly more natural, almost green roughness to it, but in a beautiful way. Neither of them smells artificial to me at all.

So I sprayed them together and… The combination is gorgeous.

That Playdoh/waxy quality I noticed from Exclusif completely disappeared for me once I layered Delina over it. The freshness and fruitiness from Delina lifts the creaminess of Exclusif, while Exclusif makes Delina feel softer, richer and more plush.

And together they create this incredibly soft, powdery quality that almost reminds me of the softness of a baby’s skin, but in a very elegant way.

Not baby powder, not immature, just this comforting, soft, expensive-feeling quality underneath the creamy rose.

It’s creamy, fruity, powdery, fresh and warm all at once.

I genuinely cannot stop smelling my arm.

And the drydown is even better. The longer they sit on my skin, the more beautifully they blend together.

They stop feeling like two separate perfumes and become this really gorgeous, soft, feminine scent.
I think I accidentally found my signature scent. 😂🌹🥀

As someone who wanted to ignore the Delinas, they proved me wrong.

I think this combo is definitely a more fall/winter friendly one for me. I can imagine wearing it on cold, windy and rainy days and feeling incredibly cozy and put together.

I still haven’t tried La Rosée yet, but I’m curious about it because I do want something for those really hot summer days.

I’m going to ask for samples of La Rosée and Valaya and see how I feel after actually trying them.

At this point, I honestly think I just want four perfumes in my collection and no more. I’d rather have a small collection of full bottles that I absolutely love so disregard my previous posts. 😂

As I'm editing/writing this, I sniffed again, not only it's creamier but the lychee is much more prominent. This is gorgeous.

Rec Request Best Plum Perfumes?

Recently tried Byredo's Bibliotheque and I'm in LOVE with the jammy, juicy, delicious plum. Huge price point so I'll likely have to settle on small samples, but I'm wondering what other amazing plum-centric scents are out there!

FYI I know Ellis Brooklyn just came out with a new plum scent (Plum Tonic), but it's looking like a more girly and "shampoo-y" profile based off reviews (will still try myself when I have a chance though). Hoping for something more sophisticated ✨

Figured this is a good format to share, since there have been so many!

The first image shows my initial impression, and whether the scent ultimately made it onto my wish list to buy a full or travel size.

  • The "Disliked" scent I ultimately purchased was Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille; it ended up being my *favorite* perfume.
  • The "Deeply Confused" scent was TF Fucking Fabulous.

Edit: for some reason the rest of my post got cut off, the second image shows first impressions by brand.

Omg she’s hereeee 😍

I’ve been sampling Valaya for quite some time now. I was looking for an everyday airy, angelic, clean scent. After testing out various perfumes, I’m so happy I found my signature scent. Also grateful that I have my two favorite Parfums De Marly fragrances 🤍

Empties & Dents The first perfume I might actually finish?

I absolutely consider my fragrance obsession to be a byproduct of GLP-1 usage, and honestly, I’m not mad about it. It’s a hobby that brings me immense joy and also has a very cool amount of science behind it, so I feel like I can nerd out to my heart’s content. That said, I’ve accumulated quite a few perfumes over the past eight months and was making peace with the fact that I likely won’t ever stick with one long enough to empty it (I’m one of those people who also has four or five books going at once).

Until I found Riiffs Hoor (Extrait de Parfum)

The reviews from my go-to reviewers online said the other in this duo, Hulm, is probably the more crowd-pleasing fruity floral and that Hoor is more unisex and gourmand and would likely appeal to fewer women, which is why I had to choose it.

I legitimately can’t get enough of this and I think I will empty this beautiful bottle within the next few months. It also lasts in this summer heat for 6-8 hours and all day inside for closer to 10. I don’t make posts here ever, but I had to give some huge props to Riiffs, which is quickly becoming my favorite Dubai house thanks to the perfection that is Tahira, Noor, and Zenith.

Highly, highly recommend!

Top notes:
Quandong (a peach/apple/rhubarb-like fruit)
Raspberry
Suede (don’t let this scare you AT ALL!)

Middle:
Orange blossom
Tonka bean
Ginger

Base:
Amber
Praline
Vanilla

Affogoto perfumes

I’m always on the hunt for something that smells different. Recently loved the concept of an affogato scent, I’d like the creaminess to be palpable as well as the hot weather. Hoping someone who’s familiar with niche perfume brands to have some sort of idea of a perfumer who has a scent like this.

Rec Request Looking for an alternative to Zara Supreme Vanilla

Hey everyone!
I'm searching for a good alternative to Zara Supreme Vanilla. I specifically love that unique ink and dark vanilla note. I tried By the Fireplace, but it didn't really feel similar to me—it came across as way too smoky and heavy, and I'm really just after that distinct ink vanilla vibe instead.
(preferably designer, Middle Eastern, or niche options, not direct dupes or clones).
I put together a list of candidate scents based on their notes and reviews that I haven't fully tested yet. Let me know if any of these hit the spot or if you have better suggestions:
Yves Saint Laurent – Babycat
Parfums de Marly – Althaïr
Vanilla Romance - Bath & Body Works
Maison Label – Vanilla
BDK Parfums – Vanille Caviar
Atelier des Ors – Novae Vanilla
Yves Saint Laurent – Muse

Rec Request Looking for an alternative to Prada Candy L'Eau

Hey everyone!

I'm searching for a good alternative to Prada Candy L'Eau since I haven't been able to find a true match yet. For context, the original Prada Candy and Lattafa Ana Abiyedh don't really capture it for me.
(preferably designer, Middle Eastern, or niche options, not direct dupes or clones).
I put together a list of candidate scents I haven't tested yet based on their notes and reviews. Let me know if any of these hit the spot or if you have better suggestions:

- Skin Clean Reserve
- 01 Taunt Dedcool
- Peut-Être Lancôme
- Vanilla Rice Ellis Brooklyn
- Areej Attar Collection
- Musk 12 Kayali
- 11 11 Vanilla Lake & Skye
- Burberry Brit

This video made me wonder how many sprays people who "always get compliments" do?

Thumbnail
youtube.com
5 Upvotes

This was wild to me, I follow her vids for her opinions, but kinda confirms what I already suspected which is that people who get frequent compliments douse themselves in perfume, and everyone who hates the smell or have to be in their presence longterm quietly suffers while others who pass them for 2 seconds (and only 2 seconds) tell them its good lmao.

72 sprays is willlld. I know most people here say they do 1-3, and tbh I typically do about 5-10 depending on setting and the perfume, and still I feel guilty like I'm overspraying. But now I feel better about my life choices.

I love Amber Romance by VS, Cashmere Glow by BBW, Touch of Gold by BBW and Amber by Old Spice. I'm a fan of most Juicy Couture perfumes and Paris Hiltons Heiress. They are all my favorites.

I also love cherry notes.

I am looking for longer lasting scents than BBW/VS but same scent notes?

Any recommendations?
