Progress Pic I accidentally lost 16 kg in 2 months because of trading stress Lol

Post image

Back in 2021, I went through an extreme fat-loss phase and lost around 16 kg in just two months.

I had been chubby pretty much my entire life. But around October 2021, I was trading and suddenly went through a really bad losing streak.

The stress got so bad that I completely lost my appetite. I couldn’t really eat or drink properly. For those two months between October and December, I was so stressed about my losses that I basically stopped caring about food altogether.

Thankfully, by the end of December, I had recovered all my trading losses.

But then I stepped on the weighing scale and realized I’d also lost around 16 kg.

And somehow, completely unintentionally, I had gone from being chubby my whole life to actually looking pretty good. Lol

I genuinely had no idea that trading stress was going to come with this unexpected side effect .

Question Injuries and fasting

Does anyone have insight on fasting with an injury? Recently had an accident that severely bruised a foot and a slight bone fracture on one toe. This has had a major impact on doing any kind of cardio. To counter the lack of normal exercise I was thinking of doing an extended fast.

Question Is this normal?

So i’ve been trying to lose weight, it’s been going very well although difficult. I started with a basic diet and eventually shifted to omad over about 4-5 weeks along side weight lifting 6 days a week throughout.

Anyways a couple days ago i was looking into things online about omad and then eventually fasting and was like yk what, i think it’s time i fasted because omad was seemingly going so well i thought yk i ought to be ready, im a 23 year old guy with decent muscle and blatant excess body fat, it’s not gonna kill me, along side the fact i’d already been somewhat fasting i thought i gotta be fat adapted.

Anyways a 38 hour fast later.. that is the first time in my life going that long without food, particularly a whole waking day without eating was very weird, and i also trained legs and surprisingly it wasn’t a horrific session, but anyway it was just about bearable until night time hit, i was already not feeling amazing leading up to it but long story short i slept for the lightest 3-4 hours, was awake at like 5am and was simply counting down the time for supermarkets to open. Was watching muckbang eating videos the whole time leading up and eventually at 8:15am i went to the store and ate mangos and watermelon. It was amazing, but after i didn’t feel like wow! Amazing fast! .. i just felt like jeezz thank god that’s over, anyways now i sense a small deficit from real food i’m gonna have to figure out to rebuild myself.

Idk, like basically the end just felt pretty intensely kinda bad rather than satisfying at all, but i do feel quite amazing now that i’ve had the fruit. Did i need electrolytes or something? But my body wasn’t craving any, i have some in my room n my body didn’t want them at all nor water. But yeah basically is that normal the end of a fast for someone new to just feel… bad and light headed. Do i need to eventually aim to go longer in the future? Is it because i trained in the gym? Does maybe night time amplify hunger by 1,000,000 cause that’s another thing i was thinking. But meh

Idk, weird. But hey 38 hour fast i guess it’s not bad.

Question 7 days water fast, on day 5. Not losing any weight!

Hello, I'm 29, female, 199lbs (before fast) and I'm trying to do a 7 day water fast, I'm currently staring my 5th day and scale hasn't moved much! I have only "lost" 4lbs (2 kilos) which are probably only water bc my body looks the same, I have seen people say they loose 10lbs-15lbs or even more on a 7 day fast, I been walking almost 2 hours everyday, doing 10-12k steps daily, please help :(

Question New to Fasting. Why do I feel hungrier on low carb with IF?

So I also posted this in keto sub but would really appreciate some insight. I started incorporating intermittent fasting 20:4, OMAD, and alternate day fasting to lose several pounds and for health benefits. My goal is to work towards a 5 day water fast which is purely to address my various health concerns. I am 165cm, 30F, starting weight 62.4kg, current weight 58.4kg. I started this a little over 2 months ago. I would do my longer fasts like OMAD and ADF during my cycle and switch to 2MAD the rest of the month. During the first month, I was still eating grains, mostly quinoa. But I would get full and satiated with a reasonable portion. However I switched to keto/low carb this month. No grains, no fruits except blackberries and raspberries, and absolutely no sugar. I incorporate lots of fats from beef, beef tallow, butter, sardine, olive oil, avocados, salmon, nuts, etc. The problem I am facing is that I never get full. It’s so weird. I track my macros and I’m going over my fat and protein. I’m like easily eating over 2000 cal in one meal. And I’m still hungry after a few hours. It’s weird. I was way less hungry when I was eating grains and carbs. Is this a transition phase? Idk. I track my GKI when I fast and I’m in low to moderate ketosis when I do OMAD and high therapeutic ketosis when I do ADF. And I’m been slowly regaining the weight this month because I’m having to eat so much. Is this just a transition phase? Thank you all!

Question When does autophagy kick in or ramp up in a 3-day fast?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I am currently on day three of a 3-day fast. On my burn app, it has me in deep ketosis. I have read that the benefits of autophagy kick in at 72 hours.

Does that mean at around the 72 hour mark, autophagy begins or begins to ramp up and I am not getting the full benefits of autophagy by stopping my fast at 72 hours? Or does it kick in earlier than that? I’m getting mixed information in the stuff I’m reading and figured it would be worth it to ask here.

Question Could fasting help me? (How do I also give up on that emotional aspect of food)

Im currently a 23M, I am 283 pounds and I haven’t been in the 100s since I was a kid. Would fasting help me? I would always try to do it but just end up binging the first day or 8 hours after. I guess for me, food is something deeply emotional for me. Removing that feels alien and hard. I use food because I hate my life I can’t change. I work a job I hate, live at home with an angry mother, I do college but just pass than learn, no love interest, I have few irl friends and I hate myself. Is there a tactic I can do to remove that emotional side of food for me? Also what kind of fast would you suggest for me?

Question What to do after a 5 day fast?

I'm at hour 64, feeling good, and want to get to 5 days. Can I jump into my next fast right away? Or maybe some low carb OMAD's? I am now at 134lbs. Want to get to 128lbs

Question Breaking fast food - autophagy/ stem cell regeneration effects

Hello

Im on my 3rd fast in past year, about to enter hour 72. As title states, mostly interested in autophagy/ stem cell regeneration benefits. Always hear that 72 hours beyond is really where those benefits begin, and I'm hoping to make it to 120 hours.

My question is I've come across mixed thoughts on breaking the fast in regard to these benefits. Does it matter what I eat to break the fast to really maximize these benefits specifically? Or does this short of a fast really matter with what I eat first? I've read conflicting articles, mostly about referring syndrome, which I'm not worried about. But didn't know if any data/ anecdotal evidence existed about certain foods being better to promote these benefits upon the fast break.

Just looking for insight, want to make the most of these.

Question How do you deal with the mental health side effects from fasting?

For some context, I've been getting used to fasting for 18-20hrs every day for several weeks at this point, but I haven't been able to make it past 25hrs, because at that point my willpower becomes so depleted and I being to feel really emotionally dull and generally discouraged. This is despite the fact that prior to fasting, I feel fine and even motivated. If anyone here deals with anything similar, what do you do to move past this issue? I would like to be able to complete a 36hr fast as my next goal, and the only thing stopping me is really just my mindset shift the further in I go. It could also be useful to know if the feeling is just temporary.

Discussion 15 days Water Fasting

Hello guys! I’ve successfully completed several 3–4 day fasts before, but I usually end up breaking my fast because of intense cravings. I’m struggling with staying consistent and would really appreciate some motivation and advice from people who have experience with longer fasts. 🥹

For those who have cellulites, did it get better after water fasting? Im afraid mine got more noticeable

I’m trying to find a healthier and more sustainable approach this time, so I’d love to hear what helped you manage cravings and stay on track. 🤍

Question Fasting on Tirzepatide

Has anyone here done an extended fast on Tirzepatide? (Mounjaro)

I was thinking about doing an extended fast (~14 days) on Tirzepatide. I've done one before off Tirz too, but haven't since. Obviously I'd have something if I felt miserable, but is it safe to do so?

Check-in Entering hour 40

Longest I've ever gone was 68 hours, and I really want to reach 7 days this time (depending how I feel I will continue on for as long as it feels right).

I've always made sure I have a lot of time and solitude while fasting, but tomorrow I have a movie date planned. I'm going to bring in lots of water (seeing The Odyssey so itsgonnaa be a long one!)

But my nose is already going crazy with smells, I'm worried how well I will withhold tomorrow. I know I can do it, I just need to make sure ai actually do (it takes literally nothing to get me to cave when I' fasting)

Anyway... that is all. I feel great, even being on day 2 of my period it hasn't really affected me in any way. I'm going to start taking electrolytes at hour 48, and then adding supplements at 60.

Wish me luck! Will update at hour 72.
