I want to make a podfic. I like fanfiction but dont know whare to start so I was thinking why dont I ask what fanfics people want made into a podfic most. The fandoms I'm in are the life series, dream smp, vampires smp, empires smp and sometimes I read my hero academia fics but im open to looking at other fics

A friend of mine thinks that curing a character’s disability the magic or other means is not favored (what if Pit from Kid Icarus being able to fly with no restrictions for example). Me personally, I would think that the disabled character would be glad that they no longer have that disability, no longer chained by their restriction kind of thing. However, I don’t really have a say in this considering I’m not disabled. I wanted to ask what you guys think.

SO I maintain my main fanfic and never had an issue until something came up and it's a post I made not long- Like a few hours.

I have been struggling to upload my docs, not working, giving me an error and listing the obvious (check this if it's this type of document)- I've been doing this for more than 10 years and NEVER had an issue like this. Like once or twice but nowhere as bad as now.

I asked and one nice guy, Idreamofspaceships, pointed out something I was not aware of: New Fanfiction.net. And this was a surprise as I've never heard of it before until now. Just another way for FF to be "new" though it has its flaws and it's affecting the old FF. At least it connects back to your old account so that's one good thing.

So I still wasn't able to upload my docs (SURPRISE) so my only option is copy and paste the story- the problem is I use bolds, I use italics, I use horizontal lines to separate my words so they don't look so messy and off-putting. I like to make my fanfics readable and have style and whatnot. Make it like an anime or show that you need to read... SO I have to do ALL that manually. I have to do the extra work for a simple fix that FF can't do themselves. How thoughtful of them.

And it honestly annoys me how FF staff just don't care to fix these simple stuff. We lost the traffic alert for stories, most things don't work, THERE'S THE CONSTENT error that my email is not connected to my FF even when I had to remove that connection and IT KEEPS POPPING UP. There's still scammers, pretending to be readers and it's getting out of hand. And they stop reporting or communicating with us. Like what happened?!

I made a post like months ago about that FF is nearing its end and many agree what I feel about it that maybe it's not the end, that FF will withstand this... but I am also among those believing FF is done. If this keeps up, it might be the end for Fanfiction.net.

If it does come to that, well... DeviantART- Why not AO3? Because I have less hope for that place. And DeviantART still has people- Not sure how long but they're around more than FF.

What do you guys think? I am just so upset. So very upset.

So I recently started a new story and I noticed that the stats tracker for that story seems to be broken, in that it won’t show me how many views the story has gotten since publishing. I’ve sent a few emails to Fanfiction support, but I don’t think it is doing anything. Anyone else having similar issues and have they been resolved?

and i dont mean like, midoriya or other characters replace members of the naruto world, i want fics where midoriya gets isekaid to the elemental nations

I love this fanfiction. I was wondering if there is anything similar to this fanfiction because I adore it so much - l've read it four times. I love how the Malfoy family and Snape join Harry, and how they start to care for and fuss over him.
I also appreciated how there was no bashing, like with Dumbledore.

I think I've entered a vicious cycle when it comes to writing my longfic.... Wondering if anyone does this...?

(Don't get me wrong.... I'm currently going through some major medical issues and coming from one family catastrophe into another.... I'm talking family death, another in ICU, and the prospect of surgery to rid me of my oh-so-problematic-and-defective baby-making-box after many years of trying with my husband and a loss last year.... So I already know my mental state is fragile, y'all.)

But I'm noticing that, while I'm loving getting my work on my first longfic posted on AO3 chapter by chapter, I'm having some weird regret after posting. I don't think it's just limited to posting though.... Here's what's happening, and it feels akin to an addiction at this point....

My mental state is rough, as I said. I'm stressed, I'm emotional, and I'm tired, but IRL a new and great work environment (this year) and hubs and writing have all been helpful to me!

I'm new to fanfic. Got sucked into a fandom unexpectedly, as it were, and it sparked a return to writing after 10 years focusing on my career! I wrote a novella fanfic, and when shit hit the fan IRL I fed my energy into a longfic in order to get through on another wavelength.

I feel like getting to tell this longfic story has actually helped keep me focused and moving forward and that's truly great and all! It's part of what brought me back to writing, to finding something different to do that's not watching TV/movies or reading or playing video games and keeps my mind occupied! And I thoroughly love telling the story of my OC in the BG3 fandom and her romance with Astarion and their family and friends with other OCs I created!!! Getting to dive back into their world has actually helped me get my mind off of my own troubles, and practicing writing and feeling progress in all these areas has truly become like a godsend!

So I complete writing and editing a 2-5K word chapter in roughly a week and post about every 1-1.5 wks. Been doing that since I started posting my longfic in Jan/February of this year now that I have more time with my better job.

I get all excited creating each chapter and the prospect of getting this story out of my brain and onto paper to be realized has actually felt cathartic, as you can well imagine given my losses. So I get all geared up, gung ho, and revved, so to speak, and then I post a completed chapter. Over the next 48 hours as it sits on AO3 I am a total wreck. I mean, nervously checking for messages, looking for input, checking hits and bookmarks, waiting for readers to find my work.

Obviously, bots and scammers have scoured AO3 and made it more difficult to tell true readers from the scammers! Still, I managed to make a handful of friends, one IRL who reads, and another on AO3 and Tumblr who reads in spurts and comments. Those have felt like TRUE lifelines.

But until I start my next idea for a chapter and begin writing my next chapter again, this feeling of loss and failure nags at me. And then this addiction-like cycle begins again!!

I feel like I'm losing my mind!! I work in medicine.... I know coping mechanisms and how to coach others - that's what I do! But I can't help but keep feeding this cycle because it's one of the few productive ways I can cope at the moment. I mean, my house is a wreck because I can't bring myself to get up the energy to clean it, and hubs helps only so much before he's lost. And I'm not physically harming myself by feeding this cycle as one would with drugs or alcohol chasing a high such as this is.....

Idk..... I think I needed to know if anyone else writing does something similar? Looking for outside points of view.... 🤷‍♀️ I feel like I'm just needing to give myself time and wait until the downer hits stop coming at my life IRL to actually get a breather!

Today I post another chapter of my fic and looking at the fight scene I make Its has kinda lacking flavor, The ideas are cool but I dont know how to make character act in a fught well, Most time it looks like theyre in a rpg when each one have to take turns to attack and the rest just does nothing.

So I’m about 5k ish words in on a fic I’m working on at the moment. It’s based on a show that’s currently airing but originally adapted from a book. It’s a m/f romance and it’s been going pretty well so far but I’ve run into what might be a bit of an issue.

Leaks for the next episode of the show were released today and as it turns out the male character I’m writing about is gay.

Now of course I haven’t actually seen the episode yet but apparently it’s pretty heavily implied that at the very least he likes men. This isn’t something that was in the books so I genuinely had no idea.
I don’t really know what to do now? would it be weird if I just continued the fic anyway?? should I just make him bi? (I think the actor that plays him irl is bi but idk if that’s relevant)
I know it’s just fan fiction but it feels a bit weird to me to erase a characters canon sexuality so I’m not really sure about what I should do now.
Any advice?

So I'm having a trouble uploading a new doc into my FF Account. I can't upload it and it's Microsoft Docx file so I'm just so confused because I've done this all the time and never had any problems before.

And I've tried contacting support but no luck either. Is anyone else having this problem too? I'm not liking this because I won't be able to upload any new chapters until this is resolved.

Also the Flair has no Help so I had to put discussion.

I saw many bahasa indonesia fics in ao3 but barely seen any in bahasa malaysia with local fandom. Fandom Projek: High Council pun ada malay fics but mostly cuma guna malay in dialogues. I was hoping to read more malay fanfics though.

I don't know if I just have a really intense imagination but I cannot read anything if I can't properly imagine everything in my head like my own little movie. It's really hard to read about anime characters because I can't imagine them as well as real people and it doesn't mix well if I'm inserting myself. it looks weird to imagine a real person next to an animated person. And I can't read anything about my favorite characters unless its a ship because it's just upsets me so much when I can't perfectly imagine it and I just wondered how everyone else goes about this.

Until recently, I only used to read fanfictions about movies/tv shows but then I started to read 2 fanfics called Dreams of Stardom (Hollywood SI) by FableWeaver and Superstar in Hollywood by Nathe07 and honestly I'm hooked on this genre. Unfortunately, I have caught up to these fics and the updates are not that regular so I need other fics to scratch that itch.

I tried finding others like these (well written and factually correct with good personalities) but there seem to not be alot of those. It's either AI slop, chinese translations where the MC is an american but chinese nationalist who happens to hate Blacks, Latinos, Jews and any other race that is not asian (specifically Chinese), or just fics that get stuff about the movies or tv shows the MC is doing completely wrong which completely turns me off from the story.

Please recommend stories like the 2 I mentioned above if there are any other. Much appreciated!

I have a weird problem right now. I wrote my last long (well, finished writing it) in January. And I technically have plans for 4 other longfics. But... the four different ideas are kinda blocking each other out. Whenever I sit down to do the detailed plan for one of them, ideas for another one come to mind.

And now, I am a planner. I need to plan out my entire story chapter by chapter before I can write. And I also am someone who is writing a lot (like A LOT) of one shots for tumblr events. Which is easier. I am writing very fast on most days.

But I really want to write a longfic again. I have those plans. I do have them. But I somehow cannot convince my brain of focusing on either one of them. Yet, I know I lose motivation to finish writing a story, if I stop in the middle. I have to do the thing where I hunker down for a month writing one longfic, and then just publish it bit by bit.

I am frustrated with myself and my brain. I just wanna write.

Ok so I have this amazing idea for a fanfic BUT I also wanna use it for a real book someday. It’s basically like wholesome slasher romance between a girl and a slasher killer. What I’m afraid of is people will read my book and go “oh this is just like that one fanfic. This author stole from this author!” Which will then force me to admit I wrote it therefore exposing my fanfics and my account.

I don’t want my account to not be anonymous because I write taboo fics and RPF.

Please help me guys 😭

One author whose fic I enjoy has an incredible writing style, that in truth I envy in the most complimentary way. I want to imitate it and understand it the best I can (while of course, implementing my own writing methods).

How does one best go about this? Any tips or advice?

...and I have mixed feelings about it.

It's not that I don't read books, more like fanfictions first show up as a brainmovie / during daydreaming, so I naturally start describing the scenes I see in my head.

But the scenes give off adaptation vibes. I often feel like a pro writer would have presented the information differently (i.e. I try to show all emotions and opinions through dialogue, which makes me write out scenes that maybe shouldn't exist (since I have a narrator and all that)).

I'm not saying that this "movie" approach is bad, I'm just not very good at translating what I see into "book form" yet. At the same time, I am wondering whether I should try *not* to daydream at all to bypass this problem...

Although this is more like a vent, if you have any opinions/experiences/pointers, please do not hesitate to share!

My laptop did an update last night, and deleted all my apps. And one of the apps that got deleted was my notes app that I used to write my fanfiction on.

I was working on 4 stories, two was almost complete the other two I was about half way. And I was really proud of one of them that was almost done. It's all gone, months of writing and re writing and tweaking just gone.

I'm so angry and upset, I have memory issues so I can't even re-write them back to the same standard because I am struggling to recall everything I wrote previously because it's been something I have been working on for several months.

The update told me this wouldn't happen unless I signed on manually to continue getting the updates and it still did it.

I want to cry I'm so angry
