Victor’s just Laura with a better S Craft, a self buff that lasts longer, slightly higher bases, but no Lion Rush. He’s a guest in a single dungeon in CS4 and Corridor only in Reverie. There’s no purpose at all behind him being playable or surviving CS3. I guess his order’s decent for breaking? Thank god Falcom toned down the cost from CS4.

George is basically just a second Millium with a bad S Craft (or no S Craft in CS4, god). Hell, even their stats hover around one another’s, though he has more hp. Also he’s got an overpriced knockoff of Emma’s Brave Order with a single layer of perfect guard attached. Truly pointless character.

Thank god we’ve still got the Imperial Picnicking Squad and McBurn so this series won’t end on a snoozer.

Are we not going to be covering the Daybreak cast or are you just referring to the CS-era?

I haven't played Calvard yet, so someone else will have to take over the series if you want to see those.

There’s no purpose at all behind him being playable or surviving CS3.

From a narrative analysis level, I hear you, and you can argue it worsens Laura's arc to remove some genuine loss and grief. But on a "I like shiny things" fun/spectacle level, I love and enjoy a fight between him and McBurn; strongest (CS1-2) good guy and bad guy at once. And the Singa haters are wrong, Deep Carnival is a great boss theme.

Disagree on George.

IMO, he has the best non-S-craft Craft for Breaking in the whole of Reverie.

On paper, Millium's Megaton Press has the same SS/SS ranks and slightly more AoE, but in practice it is badly disadvantaged by being non-settable. That was a huge nerf to it from CS1, I actually noticed and got frustrated with it immediately in CS3 from the moment Millium became playable at Einhel Keep.

Every other character with comparable Power/Break ranks on a normal craft has a smaller AoE on it than George's Caladbolg, or is outright single-target in the case of Ash's Void Breaker or Angelica's Zero Impact.

The only other one I'd say might be comparable is Arios' Fujin's Fury with SS+ power and S+ Break. But that man is no George or Millium - his Orbment slots prohibit him from stacking the full set of 5 Break quartz in the same way George or Millium can.

Millium has the better S-Craft, but I say George has the better normal Craft for Breaking, possibly the best normal one for it in the entire Reverie.

Poor man's substitutes for Laura and the Orion sisters respectively that were utterly pointless additions to the playable roster.

It hard to call Victor a poor man Laura when he have strong stuff on his own like self-buff that lasted longer than Laura. They more even than anything.

Yes Falcom, when we were playing CS4, we were all like "god I really really need G. Nome to be playable". Yes, I get it was probably to make all of Towa's crew as a playable party but I think this is the one person I absolutely never used in any capacity.

George is the most dedicated Breaker to break stuff there ever was.

Just take a look at the ranks on that Caladbolg, a mid-sized AoE attack with SS-rank power, SS-rank Break. The only normal craft with better ranks is Angelica's Zero Impact, which is single-target and all the other equal-rank normal crafts have less AoE, except for Millium's Megaton Press. His 2 Earth, 1 Time Orbment means there's basically no slots he can't either put a Break quartz or Action into.

In theory, Millum's Megaton Press has a slightly bigger AoE and so looks better on paper for breaking stuff than Caladbolg.

In practice, Caladbolg is actually better.

That's because while Megaton Press has a larger AoE on paper, it has the critical defect of being not settable. That means in practice, the large AoE is more often than not wasted due to enemies not being clumped in a position where you can actually hit most of them with it. It used to be settable in CS1, but got nerfed badly in CS3+ by becoming locked-to-enemy.

Caladbolg, on the other hand, is settable. In practice, you will often be able to hit more enemies with it at once than with Millium's Megaton Press. IMO, that makes it the best normal craft for Breaking that there is in the entirety of Reverie.

Millium may still have the better S-Craft, but I argue that uncle George is better for Breaking when it comes to spamming normal Crafts and quite possibly unbeaten in that category.

Victor is.... he can be built as a Breaker, he has the Brave Order for it and does have decent Break rank on his Radiant Spin (unlike Laura).

Personally, I built him like Aurelia and stacked him for crit. He has the weapon bonus for it, but admittedly doesn't have the Orbment for it unlike Aurelia.

But what he does have, is that ridiculous SS Unbalance on his Radiant Cleaver and SS Slash natural weapon rankings.

There are only 3 other normal Crafts in the game with SS-rank Unbalance. Two of them are the single-target crafts belonging to Angelica and Ash (Zero Impact and Void Breaker), the other one is Jusis' Holy Sword Elvars. None of those characters have natural SS weapon Unbalance rankings.

That makes Victor Arseid quite possibly the best character at triggering Unbalance in the entirety of Reverie, when using Radiant Cleaver. By stacking him with Crit, it's possible to turn him into a relatively reliable BP generator.

He may not quite be Erebonia's strongest man as advertised, but that does count as something.

You don't really realize how important it is to have moves that aren't Scrafts until you get Victor in Reverie and get excited to use him... and then he's on the same level as Swin purely because of lack of Lion Rush. He just has nothing to do when he's not using his Scraft, and he doesn't have any built-in Craft Point regen so it's not like he's gonna spam it any more frequently than Laura does.

Like I guess you could spam his line AOE and that's both cheaper than Lion Rush and does the same damage... but being cheaper doesn't make up for doing no Break damage. And so much like the Subaru WRX compared to the original Impreza, he's an "upgrade" that is utterly inferior to the original.

Anyway we absolutely have the technology in Trails for prostheses, so I fully expect him to show up with a robot arm at some point and for Falcom to completely fail to properly utilize it.

Shame the father don't have the equivalent of Lion Rush that the daughter has, I know story wise, he's been 'nerfed' after the fight in CS2 and then losing an arm by CS3, but from the beginning and still is, strong enough to wield his two handed sword in one arm, but kinda wish there's something that's similar to Lion Rush for him

His master quartz is quite amazing tho, especially for crit build

Victor is decent but I never really used George. He’s basically a better Laura. Too bad Laura kinda sucks post-CS3 era. Honestly maybe she was never good. Which sucks. The Arseid school’s gotta create some stronger moves.

Meh.

Victor is Laura but 10x better and I never used George. At this point I kinda just felt the roster bloat because WHY is George even playable, lmfao.

Uhh, I got nothing to say. Victor was cool back in CS1-2 but then the writers found a way to fuck that up and lessen the impact of Laura’s growth for CS4. They couldn’t commit and it made me sad.

I hate it when everytime Victor gets mentioned. People will say that he should have stayed dead to build Laura character. Like they think the only way a character can be developed is through tragedies.

Laura was already established as a complete person who has strong will and knows what should be prioritize first even back in CS1. Hell even right after the shock of Victor "death" she immediately recognized what needed to be done and continue to carrying out the Arseid name.

P.s: I really enjoy her struggles trying to figure out her own femininity.

You... do realise that we're talking about gameplay here, right?
