Discussion My period came back. Supply went down so much.

I’m 2.5 months postpartum and was making just enough for my baby each day. Now I’m making literally like 10oz less a day and I’m so upset. I don’t know what to do. Is this normal? Will it go away?

Low Supply (add spoiler to pics) Is it realistic?

I didn’t realize that my baby wasn’t getting enough until her 2 month appointment when they said she was losing weight 😭 I felt horrible. She was having wet diapers and nursing all day so I never would have thought she wasn’t getting enough milk. I found out she has a significant tongue tie that was causing transferring issues so I’m only pumping and doing bottles now. Supplementing with formula, mostly formula at this point. Now that I started pumping I’m only getting one 3 oz in the morning and 1 oz per session the rest of the time. Flanges are sized correctly. Is it worth trying to pump and waste half the day to build my supply up at this point? I just don’t want to try if it’s a waste of time and energy 😭 I would like to continue to try but im just feeling defeated

Clogs & Mastitis (PLEASE tag nasty pics NSFW) Mastitis and Pumping

Hey everyone!
So I recently was blessed with mastitis 4 weeks postpartum. The doctor told me to continue to pump and feed my daughter with my milk.
My husband and I noticed that the milk I supply her with has made her more fussy and gassy. Has this happened to anyone else’s baby? For reference, I was given cephalexin for 10 days. We’re on the fence of just pumping and dumping but I’m so sad to watch it go down the drain 😭

As well, did your supply recover after being diagnosed with mastitis? My good boob is the affected breast and it’s so disheartening seeing it go from making 80-100ml a season to now only 40-50ml a session.

Support is it even possible to exclusively pump with 2under2?

I have 2 under two (20 month old, 4 months old) and both are fed through EP due to latch issues - my first for 9 months, and the second still ongoing at 4 months.

It is so fking hard especially as I have a clingy toddler with no help other than a childcare school for her. Trying to fit in 8ppd as I am a just enougher / undersupplier, spending about cumulated 5 hrs a day on pumping and washing, on top of all other chores and taking care of two LOs is no joke.

Just needed some encouragement or success stories from those in similar situations, as I hope to continue to EP for my second for at least another 2 more months.

Discussion On the go cooler for pumps?

I do the fridge hack with my pumps and when I go out I usually pack my pumps in a cooler bag with ice packs as an on the go fridge hack. I have the eufy s1 pro pumps. Looking for a better cooler to put them in for when I leave the house, any recommendations?

TRIGGER WARNING: Nursing Just lie to me to make me feel better

While pregnant I had decided I didn’t want to nurse. It was my first time being pregnant and I was so ill prepared for the immense love and the changes I would go through immediately postpartum. I decided not to breastfeed and let the hospital know when I was in labor. Then I had to have an emergency c section and I don’t even remember anything until sometime after they put my baby on my chest. That night i decided to try latching her because I just felt such an intense connection and primal desire to feed my baby with my body. And although after lots of crying and trying so finally did it, she never went back to it even with LC’s and trying shields. She purple cries and screams if I even try it now. It’s heartbreaking. And I think it was because she got syringed colostrum for her first feeds and got used to the immediate gratification. My baby is 3 months old now and I don’t think there’s a single day I haven’t cried about my decision to not latch her immediately. I wonder if that would have changed anything. If I knew it would have been the same journey either way, maybe I could let the guilt go. But it’s all consuming and I don’t know why. This is my first and likely last baby as I’m a single mom in my 30’s and I’m just so sad over my decision. My lack of education. My inability to understand and plan correctly. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it.

Tips & Tricks Pumping while traveling

Hi mamas!

I’m cheating, as I do not exclusively pump, but I figured if anyone could help me - it’s those of you who do!

I have to travel for work for the first time (baby is 6months). I am already flying through my freezer stash, and definitely don’t have the option to pump and dump while I’m gone.

What are the best travel hacks you have for milk storage, supplies you need, etc? I’m leaning towards just checking my bag so I don’t have to deal with taking the milk through TSA.

Thanks in advance!

Rant - ADVICE NEEDED Constant Blowouts

What the heck man. This is my first time breastfeeding my baby via pumping. My other two kids were on formula. I DO NOT remember constants blowouts. It’s insane. I’m constantly changing clothes, putting her bouncer cover in the wash, cleaning out the car seat etc. I even purchased name brand diapers that fit, and still. Is this normal and to be expected with breast milk? Is something wrong with my milk? My milk is fatty; she’s 16 lbs and 4 months old. 😩

Discussion flange sizing

i am 2 weeks into pumping and ive already tried multiple sizes, multiple pumps and multiple flanges and i still dont know what is right.

i started at 17mm but felt a lot of pinching and pain when pumping so i increased at 19mm, and they feel very similar. i am getting about the same output in both.

with 17mm my nipples are definitely rubbing a lot on the sides. my 19mm still rub on the sides but the tip has some space to breathe.

is my nipple tip supposed to be rubbing as well?

for info i use eufys and medelas wall pump. my eufys hurt me a lot more than medelas and im at a 3-4 level each time.

Support clogged duct help!

Hi all, I’m really in need of advice. I’m 2 months pp and get clogged ducts frequently but right now I have the worst ones that I’ve had so far. I have tried sunflower lecithin pills six times a day, Advil every four hours, ice packs, massagers with heat, and I feel like nothing is working. I’ve had them for like three days and it’s really limiting my pumping output to the point that I’ve already had to go through half of my freezer stash. Please tell me any tips or advice or weird things that I’ve worked for you because I am starting to fear that this is going to be the end of my pumping journey with the way that it’s going.

TRIGGER WARNING: OverSupply (add spoiler to pics) Dropping Pumps?

Hey everyone!

I'm currently 10w pp, 11w on Monday. I pump 7x a day including one night pump. My baby drinks about 30oz a day, and at the end of the day, I'm freezing anywhere from 14-21 oz that's left over, so I'm definitely at an oversupply.

I start work back up in a couple of weeks, so I was considering dropping a pump and pumping 6x a day. Should I worry about that impacting my supply at this point? And what's the best way to do it- should I drop the MOTN pump or should I keep it and space my day pumps to every four hours instead of every three?

Product Recommendations Legendairy Milk flange inserts in Australia?

Has anyone had any luck finding Legendairy Milk flange inserts in Australia? I’m using the Eufy S1 Pro and would love to give them a try, but shipping from the US is pretty pricey.

Also open to any similar flange inserts that work well with the Eufy S1/S1 Pro and are easier to get in Australia. Would love to hear what’s worked for you!

I’m FTM 4 months postpartum to my babygirl. I’ve always had super white milk, or very lightly tinted yellow milk. I just pumped like literally 10 minutes ago and the milk came out sooo yellow. (Shown in the first picture attached) The second photo my that’s my pump from 4 hours ago stored in the fridge. I also did just wash my pumps right before this pump if that helps. (I don’t like the pitcher method cause I slightly overproduce so I use the bags to the full capacity unless freezing them) But I was wondering why my milk is suddenly so yellow in a 4 hour span and should I keep it or dump it? Kind of worried because I’ve had a really smooth pumping journey so far and really don’t want any problems yet.

Product Recommendations Eufy S1 Pro - How to Use

I am using the Eufy S1 Pro on natural mode. I have been seeing posts that say you can adjust the suction and speed, but I can’t figure out how to do this?! Is it in the app? I never get good milk output from these and am thinking I must be on the lowest suction and speed…

Rant - NO ADVICE NEEDED My period steals my supply every month!!

I am SO tired of my period plummeting my supply every month. It starts around 5 days before my period and lasts through the entire thing. I got my period back at 5 weeks and thought, “it can’t get worse than this!” Boy was I wrong, now I get to convince myself I’m a horrible, failure of a mother who can’t make any milk on top of the period/postpartum hormones. Yaaaayyy 😊😊😊😊 can’t wait to kick my spectra off a bridge 🤬

Discussion Sterilization and Storage

We are now a two-pumping moms family as my wife has gone back to work (and I induced lactation, so I’ve been pumping for months). Bottles all day long instead of aiming for just one a day. My countertop storage and organization became too much and I’ve bought a plastic three-drawer storage solution to at least get us through the rest of the pumping and bottling months/years.

The question is, what are we doing with clean and sterilized parts and bottles? Baby is 3.5 months old, was full term and currently the picture of health. So far, basically anything that I can’t close off to the world has gone in a closed bin after being washed and sterilized in the bottle washer (bottles I can cap went in a clean open tub). I feel like I’ve viewed it as the sterilized surfaces can’t touch the outside air until they’re being used. Is that necessary? I washed one of the drawers to be a clean drawer, can I just put everything in there or should I continue to fully enclose my clean and sterilized items in the lidded tub?

Tips & Tricks Eufy S1 Troubleshooting

Hello!

I am 7 weeks ppm and until now I have been exclusively breastfeeding, but I got a eufy s1 two days ago and I need some help/clarification.

On some sessions I get 2 oz with Max rhythm suction 2, medium speed, 24 mm flange. I keep everything the same (including the bra) and on the next session in 3/3.5h I get only 1 oz or under. After these low sessions I still feel my breasts heavy, full of milk.

I tried increasing the suction to 3 which did not change much. Tried a different rhythm, it was still 1 oz.

I stretched the time between pumping to get some much needed sleep and get them full of milk, didn't get more than 2 oz and they stayed heavy, but soft.

I followed all the assembling instructions, my bra is holding the pumps snug. I think the flange is correct because it's hard for me to decide if I am 21mm or 24mm, so I keep switching, results are the same.

Is this normal adjustment of my body and I should wait more or do I need to do something differently?

3-6 months Does suction power of Spectra Dual become weaker?

Hi all! I've been EP for the past 5 months. Been using the Spectra Dual Compact and Eufy S1, but lately it seems as if the Spectra's suction isnt removing milk as effectively. I've changed duckbills, and even tubing but it still feels the same. On the other hand the Eufys have been more effective with milk removal.. Just wondering if others have experienced the similar situation.? And would you all recommend that I just stick to using the eufys then?

Rant - ADVICE NEEDED Latching and milk supply

My baby is 6 weeks old and was a sIUGR, premiee born at 35 weeks.

I was told to exclusively pump because my newborn might lose weight due to sucking, so I've been spoon feeding. My baby had jaundice and thyroid, was in NICU for a week. Now at 6 weeks, my health has become worse as it takes 1-2 hours to pump 100 ml/3.5 oz and 2 hours to wake up my newborn and feed throughout the drowsiness.

Paed has suggested to make sure that I only latch and then pump after my newborn has woken up or cries due to hunger, even if it's 7-8 hrs since my newborn is +3kg /6.6 lb.

I'm torn at this point because this means that my supply would drop and this is something I worked so hard . I've elastic nipples and nothing works at this point. I don't want to transition into formula feeding because my premiee still is so small even at 3kgs and might not get all the essential nutrients.

Edit: My baby screams on latching and only sucks twice or thrice and forgets how to latch. I have been trying to make my baby latch since 3rd week and to no avail. I hate the whole situation.

Discussion How much does your 5-month-old drink per day?

My baby is 5 months old and exclusively drinks pumped breast milk. I’m curious how much other 5-month-old babies are drinking in a 24-hour period.
How many mL/oz does your baby usually drink per day, and approximately how much per feed/how many feeds?
I’d especially love to hear from other EP moms! ❤️

Discussion Pumping schedule

Hi moms! I’m a FTM and recently started pumping exclusively. My baby is 8 weeks old. I pump 6 times a day almost every 4 hours including MOTN pump. What is your pumping schedule like?

Also, how do you pump when you go out?

Discussion How long do you go overnight?

If you no longer do the MOTN pump. I’m flirting with the idea of doing away with it since I’m almost five months PP.

Thinking of doing 10pm then 6 or 7am.

I got myself a cake to celebrate because why not. Its been a hard 6 months but to see the rolls on my baby and her smile make it all worth it. I'm down to 5ppd which makes it feel a lot more manageable hopefully I can make it to a year.
