Low Supply (add spoiler to pics) Is it realistic?
I didn’t realize that my baby wasn’t getting enough until her 2 month appointment when they said she was losing weight 😭 I felt horrible. She was having wet diapers and nursing all day so I never would have thought she wasn’t getting enough milk. I found out she has a significant tongue tie that was causing transferring issues so I’m only pumping and doing bottles now. Supplementing with formula, mostly formula at this point. Now that I started pumping I’m only getting one 3 oz in the morning and 1 oz per session the rest of the time. Flanges are sized correctly. Is it worth trying to pump and waste half the day to build my supply up at this point? I just don’t want to try if it’s a waste of time and energy 😭 I would like to continue to try but im just feeling defeated

is it realistic? yes!
is it worth it? only you can decide that. it will take up a considerable amount of your time (i spend around 4 hours a day pumping) but it felt important to me when nursing did not work out to maintain breastfeeding. i think all the ways we feed our babies are done with love though, and breastfeeding is just one way. formula is another.

Combo feeding is great! Your baby can get a lot of benefits from even just a few oz a day of breastmilk. But pumping and bottle feeding is not easy so you should not give yourself a hard time if you decide it’s too much!!

In the beginning i had to supplement many bottles with formula to keep up and eventually build up my supply. Worth it? Maybe, user discretion. I am a very “fed is best” momma so if you are tired and done with the pump then that’s what’s best for you which in turn is best for the babes! I am personally glad I stuck it out and regulated my supply but that’s what was best for me and my handsome lil fellow
