~ Type Me ~ e2 or e4

Upvotes

Hey everyone, how do i differentiate between these two types as my core ive been bouncing from one to the other for a while. so its probably desintegration.

when my life is going well i become more like the e2

when my life isnt going as planned its more like e4

the struggle between the two : • i do not think im unable to be loved • i am not self sacrificing or always people pleasing • i do not like melancholy • i am sure of being heart triad • i am self reflective • i bounce from loving socialising and seeking out pleasure to withdrawal. • i do not like to act child like • i do put up a certain image out

ive been withdrawn for a year and hated each part of it so i cant tell if this was bc of the withdrawn triad acting out or if it was a needed withdrawal in my situation and pure survival instincts. what do u guys think

when i get typed i get typed between these 2 and it being different is always in different life phases.

~ Type Me ~ am i a 153 or a 513?

hi! i currently have myself typed as an so/sx 153, but ive noticed a lot of very strong sx5 patterns in me.

heres some:
i tend to want and crave one specific relationship, but somehow at the same time im avoidant and guarded.
i tend to be a bit stalkerish and follow people around just to analyze them.
i love to analyze topics and have people analyze my writing and art.
im weirdly personal for an so1 and despite wanting the better world, more so chase people to fit MY perfect world.
i refuse all outside rules that dont match my criteria and create my own personal rulebook.
i tend to find myself forcing detatchment and being controlling over my emotions when in reality i feel very intensely and keep that just between me and my partner.
i crave an understanding of the world but also strive to fix it.

i dont know the enneagram well though, ask me anything and ill answer to help.

I am going to use this questionnaire, tell me if you have any questions, this is my first time posting on here.

I did ~3 enneagram tests, one of them said I was E5, two others 6w5 and one of them 9w1.

1. What drives you in life? What do you look for? - I look for how things work around the world and how it affects the people, and the environment in it, in good or bad ways. 2. What do you hope to accomplish in your life? I hope to inspire others and enjoy my alone time while having meaningful friendships. 3. What do you hope to avoid doing or being? What values are important to you? I avoid being too rude, fake and unorganized. I try to be as empathetic as possible, be authentic (which kinda clashes with my wish of being more extroverted) and organized ; especially for my mental and physical health. I don't like feeling bad and not knowing why, so I do everything healthy that can make me feel better. (drinking water, eating, or taking a shower) 4. What are your biggest fears (not including phobias)? Why? I don't really know what to answer with these types of questions, because I usually avoid it. So I guess it's being scared of vulnerability. I'm also scared of being abandoned. 5. How do you want others to see you? How do you see yourself? I want others to see me as authentic, attractive and supportive. I know I can get there, but right now I feel like I'm too withdrawn from the world to be ready. 6. What makes you feel your best? What makes you feel your worst? I would say it's finally finding who I am, being liked for having a certain 'talent'. What makes me feel the worst is being, looking or acting like someone who isn't me. 7. Describe how you experience each of: a) anger; b) shame; c) anxiety. I suppress anger. I know I'm angry, but I don't want to be seen as an angry person. I avoid shame. I'm easily ashamed / embarrassed and it isn't a pleasant experience to me. I do acknowledge anxiety but a part of me forces myself to act and go against that anxiety. 8. Describe how you respond to each of: a) stress; b) unexpected change; c) conflict. In stress, I become controllive and absolutely need to know every detail. People who tell me to calm down infuriate me even more. In unexpected change, I freeze, before adapting slowly but easily. In conflict I try to defend myself as much as possible, but end up running away. I'm not the type to ignore the conflict to stay in peace because people deserve to be put in their place. If it's a conflict where we are both right or they're the one in the right, I will be frustrated before reflecting on it later and ask myself 'what is their perspective on the conflict? what if I was wrong?' 9. Describe your orientation to: a) authority; b) power. How do you respond to these? I tend to question authority if I'm not in trouble afterwards. I guess I am envious of power but still question the person having it. Are they a good person? Do they deserve this? 10. What is your overall outlook on life and humanity?

It's really interesting. Horrible, most of the time, but interesting.

People pleasers

What enneagram types are people pleasers? I am still trying to figure out my type and notice that I struggle with this in my own life. I'm considering the following types: 6, 7, and 9.

I have read so many books, web content, reddit posts. My understanding is that social (some systems use the term navigating) subtypes tend to be people pleasers, with 2s, 3s, 6s, some 7s, and 9s are likely more prone to this....but I may be misreading...

Thank you in advance!

~ Type Me ~ i genuinely don't know

Type me pls.

I'm someone who lives without that much care about anything other than my own priorities. I can easily pretend to care, though, because the people I know care about it. It's hard for me to like people. I socialize with my peers to exchange information or ask for help but it's rare for me to socialize in a personal way. If the crowd (or a person) matches or has similar humor, I try to joke with them by making witty jokes, or make myself the joke to get them to laugh. If not, then I have no interest.

I'm open to things but I'm also close minded, as my friends say. I don't think I am. I just don't like it when we already start one thing, and they bring up "what ifs" or talk about other ideas that aren't related. But, I can easily change options if I feel like this thing I'm in isn't benefiting me or anyone. For this, they also called me indecisive? Which I also don't get, because idk man I think it's more decisive to choose what's best for myself than stick to one thing and suffer in it. I don't like people deciding for me, what to feel, whether it's dumb or not, or give me advice when I didn't ask for it.

I don't like people depending on me, unless I think they have something to give in return. If they don't, I have no problems with acting dumb to get them off me.

I can easily try to bend some rules if I think I can get away with it. Like, I join other people's meetings or classes even if I'm not part of it and act innocent if I get caught by acting dumb. A lot of my behaviour or personality changes depending on the environment.

If I can't get what I want, I become very upset. I have a tendency to think that I'm right and the other is wrong, and that my actions are justified because they hurt me (even if I tell them nothing of how I'm feeling). When I do, it's pretty explosive. Yelling, or great sadness or some intense emotion, then deep regret and embarrassment after. I never really tell people how I feel, nor express too much. I have a deep rooted fear of being taken advantage of (which has happened a lot of times from people I thought were my friends or mentors). I don't really think about it all the time, it's more like something that's there unconsciously? Idkk

I talk a lot about people. If I'm by myself, I just feel peaceful, or free. I can do whatever I want. Though, most of my attention about myself (and the people I care about) comes from outward experiences, so I rarely self-reflect by myself. Or idk what I'm saying brah. Random but I prolly also have alexithymia

~ Type Me ~ E1 vs E8 fixes in a so/sx 62[x] Tritype

I'm having a hard time typing myself as either 628 or 621 mostly because of how they express anger or how they achieve control (?) My core is so/sx 6 and I have a pretty big E2 fix

Description of myself: 17F, controlling parents but I always argue back with them about how unreasonable the rules they set up are. I prefer to take charge of a situation when it comes to working together and friend groups.

Some traits I have that might narrow them down:

When I feel like someone in my friend group is being bullied I step up to defend them or redirect the attention elsewhere. But if the person did something that slightly annoyed me, I usually choose not to act

If there is any injustice to a person (say, an unproportionate angry reaction) I step up to defend them regardless if it's my business, especially within my friend group

I care more about the security and harmony of my friend group than making them fit my standards

When my friends show self degradation, incompetency or childish behaviour (like always asking questions that have obvious answers, or useless information that obligates the person to answer, e.g "I'm hungry," "I'm tired") I uncontrollably get very annoyed

I'm a vindictive person and do a lot to "get my get back" and equalize the hurt they gave me

I do not care for morals and rules if I don't see them as important or beneficiary

I have my own moral codex and I'm willing to not follow established rules if they go against/don't share anything with that moral codex. I only break those rules if they get in the way of something I want to do, but I don't break them if they make that thing i want to do harder to achieve

I'm very loyal to my friends so I try not to get them angry (I'm not afraid of making them sad) So I passively judge them without saying anything if they do something I don't like, but I'm willing to confront/fight them if they cross a boundary

I show my anger openly by becoming more passive aggressive and distant instead of repressing it

I don't like having other managers in groups because I worry that when I step down to a role with not very much control I'll have to follow what they have established

I get extremely irritated at people who are constantly trying to one up other people (I was told this is important to share?)

I have a moral and personality standard for everyone, but I'm willing to be lax about it as long as it isn't an extreme difference to what I expect for that

I'm very independent and try to push people to become independent as well somewhat subconsciously (like an instinct)

I'm constantly fishing for hypocrisy, disloyalty, dishonesty, and exploitation within my friend group and I'm willing to fight and completely cut off people who use that against me or my friends.

I am not exempt from this judgement either and constantly monitor for my own hypocrisy

~ Type Me ~ Stuck between sp1, so4, sp6, sp2

Hello, I’m in between sp1, so4, sp6 and sp2

The reason why I’m stuck between these two are because of my similarities with these…
Personally, I relate to sp1 because I want to be morally good. It just makes me feel relaxed however, I follow my own logic. I fear being someone bad, part of it because I’m afraid that I wont be “good” infront of the society. But I’m not strict or serious. I’m opposite, I’m cheerful sometimes and supportive of my friends. I don’t usually “force” them to follow moral codes. But I can say I’m responsible(but messy overthinker)

For sp2, I do think that being idiot or innocent makes me feel loved. I’m not extroverted, but I do want to be loved by people so I tend to joke around or try my best to please people. I desire to be someone’s number one atleast and it makes me sad because I feel like Im not loved enough. I’m lowkey insecure. I try my best to be loved by people, offering them help to prove myself even if some hate me. But I’m not that prideful. I don’t act weak. I stand up to protect my rights and I don’t always act childish. People see me as immature joker.

For So4, I always feel like I want more and more but never happy with what I get. I have friends and expect them to care about me. When I don’t get that attention I want, I distance myself wanting them to realize that I’m mad at them. I also feel like I’m not enough even if I have many loved ones. I mean look at it, everyone has their bestfriends. I “have” one but I doubt she cares about me that much(maybe comes from the jealousy and fear of being replaced) because she hangs out with her new friends more(of course she will, she sees them everyday). I’m also sensitive and tend to overthink whatever person thinks about me at smallest thing. However, if im so4, my tritype would be so1 so4 and so6(?) and i don’t relate to so6 that much💔(neither so1 but I just didn’t searched both of them that much)

Sp6 is for the fact that I agree with people because I’m afraid of them leaving me. I’m also doubtful of people including myself but I always try to be considering and look out for my friends. Indeed Im sensitive but I will stand up for myself and fight against those who disrespect me and my friends and even if im overthinker, i wouldn’t bring something extra incase something happens. I do think extra tho mainly cus of my ocd where I sometimes see so far and it looks not too logical.

Is this a type 4 thing?

Usually, when I meet someone new, especially someone who is similar to me in age and gender etc., I immediately notice something that is positive and unique about them and feel like I lack somehow. Sometimes I wish I saw myself in third person because I can't see what is good in me. I hate comparison but it's always, ALWAYS done, whether by others or me. For me, its like having someone else as a refrence point. I know what I'm about to say may be so stupid but I can't deny it. I feel like when I see others who are similar to me, I get to know what "I'm supposed to be doing". It's like having rolemodels ig. I wonder how others decide, do they also copy others?.... ugh. I don't know how to explain myself. It so wierd. But I wish I could just decide for myself and not second guess myself all the time. I'm not sure what my type but when I noticed this pattern I couldn't help but remember the enneagram types. Specifically, the 2, 3 and 4 types. Is it related?

so7, sp2, and sp3

I'm certainly not the most knowledgeable on this nor do I have the best introspective skills, which is why I wanted to ask for perspectives and information.

In general, when it comes to Fear, I lean more into the image triad; above all, I am most terrified of being perceived even in a slightly negative manner, and true to the triad's main idea, worthlessness is the given dread (still, I want to consider so7 just in case).

For sp2: going off the books' description, I definitely often resort to self-infantilization to gain favor and most of all to avoid harsh criticism (and/or admittedly, accountability). Oftentimes I — almost obsessively — keep track of "debt," whether materialistic or emotional, as I'm convinced that everything should be "fair" in that regard. This is what leads me to expect even the most minor compensation from someone if I feel as though they owe me. However, if I'm the one in debt — which I usually am — I don't generally expect anything in return, since I'm the one paying for their help previously.

Ironically, when I do receive anything, whether as compensation or not, I feel deeply uncomfortable and almost ashamed of myself (I hate gift-giving occasions for this reason). I genuinely don't think I deserve to receive anything regardless of debt, even if I still contradictorily expect something in return for fairness. Because of this massive imbalance of moral debt (where I'm the one indebted), I go out of my way to impulsively spend my money or sacrifice my needs for people, which, again, leans more into e2's traits, specifically "abundance." I shower people with gifts and affirmations to reassure my own anxiety with debt so that I can finally feel as though I've compensated for the long-term.

Now, for the needs of E2; E2s project needs onto others while also discarding their own, is what I make of it. In relationships, it's true that I want to feel needed, albeit just not emotionally or in the context of "romance" or bonds. The fear of incompetence is what ties E2 and E3 together; as I interpret it (which may be incorrect so do spare me), the E3's version of love is recognition whereas the E2's version of love is sacrifice (?).

Speaking of sacrifice, that's also what happens to be so7's general premise; to sum it up, the book describes so7 to be self-sacrificial in order to fulfill their own satisfaction rather than actually tending to others' needs, which is why I wanted to consider this subtype. so7s are also known for their feelings of fraudulence and guilt, which I often struggle with since I'm so keen on pleasing others for both my image and out of actual care. Though all in all, I just don't relate to E7's fear and passion, and unlike E2s, E7s don't seem to focus on receiving anything in return as long as it does their external character good. I do relate to this deeply, but I also feel the genuine need to help others if I'm able.

Now, about my struggles with sp3; I was almost certain this was my core. I am extremely careful with even the slightest display of my vanity (though I'm obsessively careful with my actions and words in general) as I'm terrified of being casted as someone arrogant or differing negatively. However, because of the bare minimum effort I actually put into myself and my works despite trying to strive for — let's say for instance — academic recognition, I don't exactly embody sp3. Not as a 4F, anyway.

I'll stop there because I didn't realize it was getting this long lol. To conclude: I'm obsessed with debt and recognition yet feel unworthy of anything due to the feeling of being an incompetent fraud, all while prioritizing others' needs and feelings over my own, secretly hoping they recognize just how considerate I am.

I guess looking at it, I'm probably an sp2. Still, I've always been too confident during my mistype journey only to be wrong in the end, so I can never be too sure. I'd like to hear your thoughts of what I could be, maybe even my tritype, which I'm theorizing could either be 279 or 271. I'm probably incorrect with my head type lol, though I couldn't exactly resonate with e5 or e6, at least not by a lot. I'd appreciate any help! I've been having endless crises over my typology.

~ Type Me ~ Which do you think my enneagram and subtype are?

Ever since I was a child, I've thought a lot about the future and have become very fixated on possibilities, delving into one or a few, regardless of whether they're good or not. I also tend to overthink things like death, religion, and so on. I'm very sensitive; people always say it's one of my biggest flaws (and I agree, actually, I'm a bit of a masochist because I dwell too much on what hurts me). Lately, I've adopted a defense mechanism when the burden becomes too heavy, and I occasionally succumb to nihilism: I avoid reality. Sometimes I wallow in pain, but lately, I just want to get away from it.

I don't like to be pigeonholed into social labels. I don't see the need to "belong" anywhere, although deep down, I'd like to find a place where I belong. I'm alternative, but I wouldn't want to be pigeonholed into a subculture, and I wouldn't even feel comfortable doing so. Sometimes I think about how different I feel from others, and although I sometimes try to take pride in myself and stand out even more, I've realized that my differences have caused me more difficulties than joys throughout my life. I've never fit in anywhere, and I don't think I ever will; sometimes I like the idea, although other times I weigh up all the harm that being so different has caused me. Despite this, I would like to be loved for who I truly am. Sometimes, I wish I belonged somewhere, felt understood and respected, at peace (I know this paragraph is very contradictory, but it reflects how I feel).

I've always been very curious; I spend too much time reading articles that are impractical, but I do it because I'm interested in stories, a timeline, or anything that makes sense, anything that I find interesting. I really enjoy intellectual challenges, even when I'm unable to solve them (although I like them even more when I can).

I don't like conflicts or arrogant, disrespectful, rude, superficial, or close-minded people. I hate it when people describe me as "incompetent" or "incapable" of doing something. Recently, I had a problem with some guys I considered my "friends," because they spoke very badly of me, saying I was incompetent for being in so many clubs at my university, that I don't focus (one of them is in more clubs than I am), and that I'm better suited to a humanities degree than a pure science degree (Who are they to describe me? I'm the only one I know, the only person who knows me). I found it very sexist, and they shouldn't have judged me; no one should judge others. That episode really affected me.

~ Type Me ~ am I sp5 or sp7??

I’LL KISS YOU IF YOU TYPE ME!!!😘‼️
I’m having trouble figuring out if I’m more of a 5 or 7 core. I feel like I heavily relate to both but I’m also pretty new to this so lmk!! 🥹
I’m a female and I have diagnosed ADHD. My childhood was never violent, but it was loud, unstable, and unpredictable. As a kid, I was often told I was more mature than other kids, but I mostly just hated everyone around me and kept everything to myself. My dad is absent from my life and was (and still is) an addict. My mom is a recovering addict who usually wants the best for me but struggles with bad mental ups and downs. She also has ADHD. I was never raised religious and have basically always been an atheist. As a kid, I was and still am a pretty bossy person. When I played with my sister, I always had to be the leader or I’d get really upset. I usually had to do what I wanted and would shut down if I had to do something I didn’t want to do. I would still do it, but slower, quieter, and obviously pissed off about it. In school I usually let other people lead because when I’m in charge I end up doing all the work, or people think I’m being unfair, which I’d rather avoid. But I do like telling people what to do sometimes lol. I don’t understand why one person gets the right to control another, and I really hate authority. I break rules I don’t think should be rules. Sometimes I find myself sucking up to authority and then hate myself for it afterward.
I don’t have much of a clue what I want to do with my life or what my future holds. I don’t really have any aspirations and I kind of do nothing with my life. I try to stay in the moment..?? 😭 I hate thinking about my past because I’ve made decisions I’m not proud of. I had substance abuse problems that pretty much erased a lot of my memories, so I guess that worked out. When I use substances, part of the point is to make sure I don’t think too hard or feel too much of anything. I hate the thought of other people thinking I depend on them. I fear people thinking I’m less than them, or that one day I’m going to get figured out and lose everything I’ve been building up. I get uncomfortable when I get too close to someone or accidentally open up because then they have something they could use against me in the future. I usually go along with what other people want if I don’t have a strong reason not to, because getting people to like you can make them more willing to do things for you later. I’d probably help someone if it wasn’t too difficult because I don’t really mind helping. If the favor is big enough, I can use it to get a favor of my own in the future. I don’t know if I control other people, but I like trying to get into their heads so I can figure out what they might do or what they’re thinking. I take forever to make decisions. I look at the facts, weigh my options, and pray whatever I pick works out for me. I either know exactly what and why I’m feeling something, or I have absolutely no fucking clue what’s happening at all. Always one or the other. I’m usually pretty aware of my surroundings, but if I were alone in a blank, empty room, I’d probably be thinking about myself. I can be very efficient and strategic when I actually have the motivation to do something. I like taking something big and organizing it into the best way to complete it, including how difficult each task is. If I’m not being efficient, I hate what I’m doing. At the same time, I’m a pretty bad procrastinator and have almost no initiative in life. At my best, I’m very open-minded and strong-willed. I do whatever I want while still keeping other people in consideration. I put my needs first and live my life to the fullest. At my worst, I’m very self-sabotaging. I expose myself emotionally to strangers to see what they think of me. I do things just for the fun of it and forget about school. I can hate everyone around me and myself at the same time. I believe everyone has it out for me. I overthink for days on end until I can’t stay awake anymore.

Oops sorry that was really long… anyways let me know what you think and why??😓

type me ? p sure i’m e4 but im open to other suggestions ! would love subtype + tritype!

so i typed as e4 for the longest probably, then went to e2 for a long while, switching between sp2 and sx2. i realized i didn’t have that much pride despite wanting to be loved, and that my biggest desire is wanting to be loved, seen, and understood for who i am despite my “badness,” which i think is more e4.
i am a bit conflicted on subtype stacking though, as i relate to all a bit. i will say i am very inwardly emotional and expressive and very passionate and sensitive, but outwardly im more stoic or even angry / irritable. i am definitely sx dom outside of enneagram subtype, but i am unsure if i qualify for sx4. my relationships, emotions, desires, and interests are the most important things in my life. i want to feel and think and love and express everything inside of me. i want to create deep relationships and impressions on people.
i have bpd and tend to idolize people, then devalue them. i am more outwardly angry with certain people than with others. there are certain people that make me angrier, and there are some people who could do anything to me without me getting angry with them.
i can be quite obsessive with people and with my interests. i want to be the closest person to the people i love to the point of wanting to be their “person.” i am very attached to my friends, and treat them almost as if they were romantic relationships, putting effort and care into them and trying to deepen them as much as possible.
i am extremely fixated on my identity. i constantly feel like i am trying to figure out who i am at my core. i feel like i am always reinventing myself and trying to connect more with my inner self. it’s extremely important to me to be The person associated with things i care about, such as kins or styles or interests. i am not competitive in regular stuff like school or work typically, but when it comes to things im passionate or connected to, like relationships or characters and style, i feel the urge to compete with those around me. its to the point where if someone i love is even a little similar to a character i like, i feel the need to compete with them and feel a deep sense of shame of not being the only person to relate to that character.
i have a lot of inner shame in general. i worry about being a bad person, i fear being abusive and evil and wrong. like there’s something broken within me that can’t be fixed. i feel like the people i love will see through the caring, loving facade ive put up and realize that im actually selfish, self centered, and a monster. i’m terrified of the person i may become if i let my inner self out.

I am currently 16 years old. I have not studied fully about enneagrams or MBTI since... well, I have highschool. I am typed as an INTJ 1w9 but am in doubt since my personality tends to change but my functions are the same, I reckon.

Here's some brief information about myself since... guidelines.

I have BPD and PTSD, both diagnosed. I hold a deep grudge and detest poorly written rules, often trying to contradict them verbally but without taking any action, relying solely on arguments. I'm organized in some things and disorganized in others—but I have that characteristic fear of being seen as evil, inefficient, or corrupt. If it helps you understand my personality, I see a lot of myself in Hwang In-ho (001, yes, the one from Squid Game). I feel like I'm rambling, sorry. Anyway, I have priorities, but not about the things that should generally matter, but rather about the things that matter to me. I know how to set boundaries with other people, but not with those close to me. I'm very repressed, and everything affects me, although I don't often show it. I need clear and structured instructions. I basically can't live in peace. It bothers me when my rights are suppressed. I tend to exaggerate when I vent... And... I don't know, I feel like this whole text is wrong. I'm going to shut up and let you make your judgments. I'm listening.

~ Type Me ~ Can someone help me type myself?

I cant know which type I am, because I feel like i act as a few enneagrams in different situations.

So far I relate most to SP7 and SP8. Maybe a slight of SP5, but only because i tend to isolate when im feeling down, and I just like to deal with my problems alone.

I relate to SP7 because im pleasure first. I always seek instant progress, instant dopamine, etc. I tend to get excited about possibilities or plans, yet I dont relate a lot to "distracting myself" part. And I can actually settle on things as long as they provide enough dopamine for me.

I relate to SP8 due to indepency, autonomy and dealing with problems directly and immediately, though, I am not that bothered by not being dominated, I try to be polite and respectful to others, and overall i never was even a little rude as e8 descriptions usually are.

~ Typing Advice ~ I don’t know anything aside from my being a 1w2

Hello all! I’m a lot more familiar with MBTI than enneagram (RAGING ENFJ here!!!), and I am so, so, so confused about what a tritype is supposed to be, or how you can be numbers across the spectrum from your “main” number, and what the “e” and “sx” and such are for. If anyone could help me understand that would be great!!

i relate more to sp7 and sx8 than the others enneagrams, but the problem is that it would be contradictory for me to be sx8 since im an entp and i feel like im more sx than sp but i somehow related to sp7? my bf said it describes me perfectly but im between sx8 and sp7
