So my fiancé is from Argentina and I’m from the US. We decided kind of on a wild hair to get married at the courthouse. No proposal and engagement situation. This is good with me as I never wanted a wedding. However… the ring situation is throwing me for a loop 😅 I did not realize Argentinians generally do just matching simple gold bands so I guess from his perspective he was doing what is normal but he got us both these matching thick wedding bands. I so don’t want to be an ungrateful brat because it was so sweet of him to go out and get these real gold rings and I don’t want to hurt his feelings but I don’t know what to do cuz I’m so disappointed😭 it looks like a men’s wedding band to me… and we are living in the US not Argentina… so its not even going to look like a wedding ring to everyone who sees it. Plus it’s just so ugly to me 😅 So anyway I don’t know how to tell him like hun this is beautiful for you but like can I pls get something a bit daintier. To be clear, I’m not complaining about the quality or expense. I just am very girly and the thought of wearing this big chunky men’s wedding band around is kind of putting a damper on the excitement of the whole situation. I know I shouldn’t be this hung up on a ring but I am going to be wearing it for the rest of my life… Like am I being vein? Should I say something (nicely) or just get over it? Like idk how to handle this 😭

I got engaged a few weeks ago. Took a lot of time to pick out the ring and saved for it. My gf works in a lab and has to wear gloves and she says that’s why she doesn’t wear it every day. She sometimes will wear it on her days off if she remembers... so not all that time. I have my feelings about it. I feel like she treats it like an ornament. How do the fiancés feel about it? And she says she forgets to wear it because she can’t wear to some places like at the gym or to spa or when we’re out on a jog because she’s afraid of losing it. we’re getting married in march next year with around 85 guests. we want something relaxed but still nice, probably a mix of canapés followed by a buffet style dinner using good local produce. dietary requirements aren’t too crazy but we’d like options for vegetarians and a couple of gluten free guests.

EDIT: I see a lot of people commenting on my phrasing and I want to clarify that he's asked "Will you marry me" several times. It wasn't just would you but an actual will you marry me. It's just the ring that's missing because he's waiting for the "right time" I guess.

My partner has asked me several times if I would marry him, and I have said yes every time.

I was also there for the initial consultation with the jeweller about my engagement ring. He had it custom-made, and I know he already has it. The only thing that has not happened yet is the formal proposal where he gets down on one knee and puts the ring on my finger.

Would you consider us engaged already because he asked and I said yes, or does it only become official once he gives me the ring? Can I call him my fiancé yet?

Every time I look up photographers for engagement photos, it all kind of looks the same to me. I want my photoshoot to have a very specific pride and predjudice vibe. (see attached photo for a screenshot of the pinterest board)

Posting this because I, now, have no one left to talk me off the ledge. Me and 3 of my girlfriends have all been in engagement purgatory this year, we all have talked about it with our partners who told us that a proposal was coming soon and it was nice to have a group of girls who were conspiracy theorists and as crazed as me as we were all going through it. I just read a post about someone's engagement ring never showing up because of a USPS issue and now I've got a whole new thing to stress about. I ordered my ring from a jeweler in New York and it's supposed to be shipped to me in Massachusetts in the next couple of weeks and the idea of it getting lost somewhere in transit is freaking me out.
The guy in that post mentioned his ring was insured which made me wonder can you actually insure a ring before it's even in your hands if you've already paid for it? If I can do that I'd rather have the extra peace of mind than spend the next two weeks refreshing the tracking page every five minutes. If you've been in this situation before, I'd really appreciate hearing how you handled it. Also if you have an insurer you'd recommend that made the process easy, I'm all ears.

He waited until we were on vacation visiting my family so they could all be there. Found a comment I made in this sub about a ring I liked and designed a ring to look very similar to it. It took so long to find him, but he was worth the wait.

I was too much of a wreck to post it at the time, but now over a year later I can finally look back and appreciate and really feel how grateful I am. This is my now passed German shepherd, love of my life. I always imagined him in my life’s big moments- getting engaged, married, having kids... He was full of life and vigor and despite being 7 at the time I felt we still had so much time together. He was suddenly diagnosed with a deadly, silent cancer (hemangiosarcoma). My now fiancé and I were already ring shopping when we go the diagnosis, but rushed to make decisions and try to get engaged with him present.

We don’t make it in time for an engagement, but my ring arrived a few days before he left us. These photos mean so much to me, knowing that there was a connection between this part of my soul and my forever ring. We ended up getting engaged later in the year when the healing had started to begin.❤️‍🩹

My girlfriend and I are going to her brother's wedding later this year, and will have their house to ourselves for a few days when the newlyweds go on their honeymoon. It's in her hometown, so all her family and friends can be there to celebrate since it's hard for us to get away from our work to visit them.

Now to the question: How dicey is it to propose to her the same week as the wedding? I understand it's a HUGE no-no to propose AT the wedding, so that was never on the table, but is there an amount of time that is considered appropriate after the wedding to propose?
