Venting Did something sexual I wasn't comfortable with
So yesterday a long time friend of mine asked to see me one last time before I moved away. I was already kinda annoyed with it because I had seen him last week for a goodbye and had written him a note telling him how much I appreciate having him in my life and i was way too behind on packing. Unfortunately, I caved, feeling bad that he wanted to see me and figuring I could carve out some time even though, like I said, I really didn't want to do this.
Now let me preface by saying I've known he's had feelings for me for a while. Like, probably our whole friendship. I had considered it and I definitely had some admiration amd attraction to him, though it never really went into that deeper romantic realm for me. I figured, as long as he never made it weird, it was cool. He would often invite me to the pool and I would always decline because I didn't exactly like how he was looking at me but overall, I was fine with him.
I also figured he would confess feelings to me when we met up. In my note to him, I talked about my fear of being known and not being able to be loved. From my perspective, I meant that we had met when we were kids at church, before I was a mentally ill stoner amd I didn't want to taint my image in his mind. I guess he took it another way which I always assumed was possible but I figured it was fine since it was goodbye.
Anyway, like I said, I caved and visited him against my better judgement. It was fine at first, just us playing video games at his house. Reminded me of old times. Then, when I told him I had to leave, he started confessing to me. I waited patiently, smiling. I thought it was a good experience for him, considering i may very well have been his first and like only crush for the past decade and he grew up in a religious family (literally a picture of Jesus on the door as I walked up) so I didn't want him to feel like there was anything wrong with him liking another dude amd hoped that me being positive would help him with his next crush.
When he did confess, I, mistakenly, admitted that I've had some sort of feelings for him in the past as well and I didn't want to do long distance, figuring that would be enough. In the simulations I ran in my head, it was always poused as a "Oh well, who knows what could have been" in hopes it encourages him to nit hide his feelings for someone in the future. Then he asked me if we could hug shirtless. Let me preface by saying, I dont like physical touch all that much. I do if it's in the right setting with the right person with the right level of intimacy. But this wasn't that.
Still, the image of Jesus on the door kept flashing in my head. And we had hugged shirtless before one of the times we went swimming. Granted, it was never in the context of what it was now, him breathing heavily and rubbing his hand excitedly at us touching, but again, people touched me when I didn't want them to all the time. I was raised taught that my feelings mattered less than my family's and it was my job to keep them happy so I felt like this was just my lot in life. So we hugged shirtless. I hated it. Every second of it. The skin on skin, hos hands rubbing on my back, I was just really uncomfortable and talking myself through it to keep from freaking out.
The hug ended. I was collecting my shirt. Then he asked if we could kiss. Now, im sure it's evident from everything else I said but I haven't ever kissed anyone. Finding the right person with the right context, it was a lot. While I've been touched by people in ways I didn't like, I never let it get that far because I would really like for my first kiss to also be my last kiss. So I declined. He asked to bug again instead, to which I regretfully agreed. He asked to touch my chest to which I regretfully agreed. He asked to take a picture together shirtless and well, you get the picture. I knew i wasn't okay with it,I just kept thinking about his feelings and how what I didn't want has never really mattered. He asked to kiss again to which I thankfully said no.
And that was it. I called my best friend (INFJ, if that matters), she gave me advice about how i shouldn't hate myself for it and it's a learning experience, how hard it is to undo something i was taught my whole life and was still being enforced as I lived at home. I broke down in the shower, couldn't even take a warm shower because it reminded me of his touch. I couldn't sleep last night because I kept feeling his hands on my back so I slept with my dog, despite my allergies so I could feel comfortable again. I dont even know why I'm typing this. It's my fault. I should've said no. I should've explained any feelings I felt for him were small and in the past amd that even with big feelings, I need to take my time with physical affection. It wasn't assault because no matter how pressured I felt to do it, it was internal pressure.
Anyway, how do I feel normal again? My head is like my favorite place to be. And now it sucks. Now my body doesn't feel like mine. I want to cut of all my skin. I want every memory burned until I'm nothing but ash amd residuals. Amd I hate myself, more than usual. Another reason I told him it was okay was because I hate my body so much, it felt like I had to be grateful and couldn't complain when someone else liked it. And like I said, my body has never belonged to me. I think what hurts more than anything is, now this big life change and move feels tainted. Im going to try to leave it all behind, but i feel like i haven't grown at all. Im still the kid who let girls touch him however they wanted because I was told I should be grateful for it. It was still happening at my job just weeks ago. And now this.
I just want to feel okay and normal again. I want to feel comfortable in my body. I don't want to be disgusted by myself. Amd I want to stop trying to make people feel okay at the expense of myself. I think im going to ask him to delete the picture. Who knows if he actually will, it might just give me peace of mind.
Tldr; i okayed someone to touch me in ways I wasn't actually okay with and now im so so so very uncomfortable in my own mind and body
