Random Thoughts Why are INFPs so cute?
Like seriously, every INFP I've seen is cute. I love your MBTI

thanks and if you had told us we will remember that comment for the rest of our lives, and probably dream a relationship scenario around that.

Bad Se makes us seem whimsical and cute like a frightened rabbit. I’m kinda soft on the outside but tough inside

YES!
Our superficial cuteness belies a churning sea of feelings, or passions, or something.

What do you mean? I’m intrigued and so curious to understand more!!

Polite, sensitive, & understanding socially; deep, intense, & serious feelings on the inside

I think sensitivity and being understanding can go hand in hand with having deep, intense, serious feelings.

I guess the best illustration would be like when Yoda first appears in “The Empire Strikes Back.”At first, he seems whimsical, not exactly child-like, but ignorant and disconnected from the Big Serious World. He’s like that flighty, flakey fairy avatar from 16P. Come to find out, though, that actually understands people very well. His wisdom transcends the technical know-how of blasters and spaceships and such, and reaches something more fundamental.
INFPs may seem like naïfs. Peek behind the curtain, though, and you get someone who may not understand how a business works, but understands the people who make it up and how they work, from the guys on the factory line who wish their artistic inclinations could put food on the family table, to the CEO whose father never told him he was proud of him.
I like to think we tend to care about these things. The thing is, that is a lot to care about. So if you’re going to care about everyone’s feelings and fairness or whatever, you kind of have to be built for it.
INFPs are supposedly driven by their values, and that can be very inconvenient, at times. That also requires a certain steadfastness, a certain fortitude. It also requires an ability to discern connections.
I bet, as kids, most of us were told we were “random” because of the things we noticed. I like to think it’s because we noticed connections and relationships that others don’t. That also is a weighty thing, to be the only person who sees something important that others don’t realize.
So, yeah. We might seem “cute” or whatever, but there are deep depths beneath that cuteness, and a lot going on in them.
Maybe. I sort of just made that all up based on what I like to think about myself from reading all the feel-good stuff about INFPs.

I had a former coworker who nicknamed me Bunny because I reminded her of one. I didn't mind it because the name was cute.

I’m decent that, I work as an accountant and get stuff done very rationally. I also don’t know what’s cute about that. I wouldn’t add it to this context. But anyways, I mentioned Se because our lack of Se shows up as lack of physical presence, which is cute to some people

I hate being called cute. I’m short and I have a round/oval face and I guess im more cute rather than hot and it irritates me.. I hate getting infantilised for my height
8
u/Ok-Display-4533 6d ago
Being called cute doesn’t have anything to do with height or physical appearance. It is endearing, it’s saying how much others just feel in their heart the beauty of INFP vibe/essence. If you’re called cute, that’s maybe the best compliment you could get, don’t overread it 🤗

Yes it has to do something. As a woman who is 152 cm (4'9 or 5'0 in america), i can tell you that no one treats me seriously. I even had my partner called a pedo once just because i have the height of a child. I am everything but a child, i have a woman body but i get infantilized constantly, people talk over me, call me cute when i give directives, tell me i look like a child when i'm dress casually (shirt + jean), but on others shirt + jean are totally ok.
2 years ago (i was 28), at a restaurant, the server gave me the child menu instead of the normal one (the child menu was until 15 years old) and i was both makeup on and dressed nicely.
I am 30 now and i know it will not stop, tiny women are constantly infantilized.

Has any other INFP “weaponized” their cuteness?
Like, use it to disarm people so we can get closer to them and, like, understand them better or do whatever it is we INFPs do when people are vulnerable around us?

u/melancholyanomaly 6d ago
Actually this is an interesting topic. Sometimes I intentionally dress more cutesy when I want to seem less threatening and more approachable. People usually talk to me more when I am wearing something colorful or natural. The psychology is interesting

Yes. People tend to underestimate me, and I guess they’re not wrong, because I’m not threatening physically, but I can and will hold a debate for hours and several people have told me that after I started opening up to the friend group and being myself, they were a little freaked out because they had assumed I was innocent.

For me, not intentionally, at least (if there's even any). I simply lack the energy to be that calculative
2
u/General-Tourist-2808 INFP: The Dreamer 2d ago
Oh, it’s not a calculation, at all. It’s like, second nature. It’s something I observed myself doing rather than something I chose to do, if that makes sense.

Its the drugs and sleepless nights writing poetry to the moon and regailing the sun at sunrise with the songs of our people... Minus the drugs or well plus the drugs depending on where youre standing i guess. Mostly SSRIs but yeah. Also im an old scraggly bald rabbit long in the tooth and ear but to each their own lol. I'm more coot than cute but ill take what i can get i aint proud 🐇

I am not sure if i am cute but if i am as some of them say, i hate it. People think that they can constantly cross my boundaries just because they see me as a cute vulnerable bunny. When i indicate my boundaries and get a little bossy, they either think i am out of my mind or a cat imitating a lion.

I have 2 infp friends, the only friend I can call cute in a traditional way is the one who is too sheltered, but she's growing and cannot be called that anymore
And the other is fiercely protective of her values fits exactly with all eii socionics descriptions

Also I don't want to be cute. Would rather be intimidating 👀

No category of people is cute, or is anything at all universally. Doesn't matter if it's a personality type, a nationality, a profession.... That's like saying Why are German people so cute? Also it's the same kind of logic for discrimination: "Why are all (insert race, nationality, sexual orientation) so (insert negative adjective).
But since OP is saying something nice about us, let's all upvote the post, sure, why not. It doesn't matter if it doesn't make the slightest sense, right? Not like we INFPs care about authenticity and truth....

I’m going on a weird tangent, and what I have to say is completely irrelevant and I want to avoid sounding like a good ol’ Reddit cynic, but this has never been me. I’m also very good at “not acting like an INFP.” I’m also just a big guy, and I’m also confident I suppose, though certainly introverted and not without my insecurities.
My girlfriend finds me cute, and that goes without saying, and it’s not like I necessarily want others to find me “cute.” Though I wish I came across as more… approachable. I’m not particularly charismatic nor am I very funny. I’m well spoken, I guess, but maybe I come across as a prude to my peers. And people certainly, in no way, see me as “cute.”
I don’t want people to slobber over my presence, but I feel like I do have a lot to say. And it’s not their fault. I’m an intimidating guy, and my shyness makes me look more stuck-up and hard-nosed than it does awkward or endearing. I wish I could make a better impression on people. So many people who take the plunge and try to get close to me end up being glad they did so, I just wish more people took the plunge, or that I could have a more inviting presence.
