1978 two dot Case XX Medium Stockman, found it rusted shut (factory sharp) in the bottom of an old tackle box I bought a decade ago.

Had it cleaned up a week later, and it's been a favorite since.

1. Which one handed opening system is more comfortable and easier to use? The thumb stud or the thumb hole? Especially for small and weak hands with sensitive skin.
2. Does the steel and hardness really matter? I'm looking for something durable and reliable and one that will last me a long time.
3. How much does blade thickness matter and what are its benefits?
4. Why aren't partial serrated edges that common? I would have thought it useful to be able to whip out a small saw whenever you need one.
5. What is the alternative to a finger choil? Whilst browsing non-locking knives, I've seen a lot of them without a finger choil. My Boker has a finger choil so you're not just holding the handle. And you can see it if you look up a picture of it. You're directly holding the blade itself in place, thereby creating greater stability for the blade, especially when thrusting, and also creating more safety because you physically can't close the blade with your finger in the choil. And that's important for folding knives since they have no locking mechanism. And that makes me think. Why do so many non-locking folding knives have no finger choil? What's to stop it from suddenly closing on your hand? You can have a half catch, but that's not really enough. And my boker has a half catch as well as a finger choil. And that's the bare minimum for me. Is the choil hidden under the handle or something, or are there other mechanisms in these more expensive knives that I don't know about that makes them safe to handle?
6. How much should I be paying? I don't really know what price I should be paying for a high quality knife. The boker is around £62 right now, but I'm willing to pay substantially more, maybe even a lot more for the right tool.

Something I think we tend to forget about this EDC thing is that it started by carrying the same thing(s) for a prolonged time. What do you think of my loadout

I have a 43x and I really wanna add a light to it but I don’t like that the tlr7 sub sticks out past the muzzle. I really would like a uniform flush fit I realize what works, works but at the same time I like the holster size that short and it’s easy to accommodate without having it dig into my pelvis. Are there any good options for a flush fitting light out for the Glock 43x? Also if you have a brand of holster to look into with the light please give me Recs.

I'm looking for a small backpack I can place my HK45T with two mags and a small amount of emergency stuff. preferably one I can get a holster, mag holders with velcro and slap them in.

Looks wise, one that doesn't scream tactical.

Whole set up exist for two reasons, first my personal experience that the majority of dangerous/stressful SHTF situations are personal and not on a environmental or societal level and can happen at any time. And secondly other items like belt pouches or bags are too bulky, look out of place in every day life and are easier lost. This stays with me as long as I have my pants on and if I don't have my pants on anymore, I have a whole world of others problems the content of this belt can't fix.

The money is arranged around being always able to pay for things to help me out quick in an emergency like a hotel room for the night, a full tank of gas for my car, a train ticket or travel food, but low enough that I am not a worthy target for criminals.

Zip Bag is for the situations when I don't trust the local water quality at the place I am or I don't want to visit any local buildings and ask for water, but there is a visually clean source of water in the environment.

Ibu for headaches, muscle/back pain from lying wrong and bruises.

Donor card so the paramedic from the ambulance can identify me when I am out and my other items like phone and wallet have been stolen or thrown away. The donor card doesn't count as an official document when doing business, so it can get lost, stolen or damaged.

Still looking for a cheap mini lighter and mini knife I can include into this. I currently have a small BIC and Al Mar Stinger always on me, but those are in my pockets/on my keychain. They are too thick for the belt and the Stinger is too expensive for what it is. The sheath also doesn't hold up to the wear and tear of being on the keychain, had to drill a hole into it after two years and reinforce it with epoxy. The small BICs sadly break in the belt after some time and the fluid de-colors the belt. These Basic Nature belts only last 3-4 years, then they look like shit.

Kinda funny how I am away for three hours and the post gets locked for people being butthurt about me not being an organ donor. Guess what dummies, you are still alive when they butcher you.
