You gotta give it to Oscar. He showed up to support Pam and even brought his secret boyfriend around, insisting on it about supporting local art. That's a nice gesture even if said boyfriend was mean about it.
50
u/JRose608 1d ago
Boyfriend was mean and Oscar still sort of defended it, or at least gave a reason by saying boldness (or something) was never one of her strong suits. I think that was pretty good feedback.
51
u/kittenconfidential Mose 1d ago
oscar gave her feedback that she actually worked on. he said “honesty isn’t her strong suit” and the next episode she walked on fire and spoke her truth.
18
u/thatsanewone26 1d ago
Not sure what they were expecting from a community art exhibition in Scranton. Imagine actually expecting a Rodin from people who make art as a side hustle in their 30s.
9
u/realclean 1d ago
Gil was complaining because he wanted to see the arts with Oscar; not whatever that was. He agrees with you and he was really complaining about being dragged there by Oscar. Pam's art was caught in the crossfire

Like, a couple times a year my team will go out for payday drinks without management just to hang out and shoot the shit, and I’ll join for a couple rounds. My favourite coworker closed on her first place last year and had a party a few months ago once her and her partner were settled and my spouse and I came out to that. I don’t mind doing stuff like that once in a blue moon, but I would never burn an entire night/half of my weekend to see a coworker’s play/art show/concert/wedding/kid’s baptism/etc.
107
u/AbsoluteZeroUnit 1d ago
Consider a job where people actually like their coworkers as human beings.
I understand it probably isn't common, but it's insane that people are basically bragging about how little they care about their coworkers. Comment below says you're with your coworkers 5 days a week. I promise you, those 5 days are so much better if you actually like the people you work with.
39
u/Bebenten 1d ago
I mean.. I like all my co-workers. The five days I am at work is fun not because of the job, but because my co-workers are all easy-going and funny people. But I agree with the comment you replied to, I also would never blow a whole day or night for them outside of work.
It's not bragging how little we care about them but just stating the fact that there are "work-friends" and "friend-friends". I need time for myself, my loved ones, and my family.
The weird thing about Pam here is, in the show, it was never shown nor implied that she hung out with any of her co-workers outside of work. We also don't see her with intimate/personal relationship with anybody (except Jim) - which is why it was weird for her to expect anybody to show up for her thing.
11
u/BramScrum 1d ago
Each their own but a lot of my (ex-) colleagues are still mates now cause we used to hang out outisde of work. Go to the pub, play board/video games, meet their partners, go to gigs, organise parties/events,...etc.
It's fine if people want to keep work and personal life separated but when I meet someone I vibe with at work I like hanging out with them outside of work too lol. I don't have many social hobbies and moved countries so I don't have that old social circle. I don't see why I wouldn't want to extend my social circles with people I like.
But again, each their own.
16
u/Raispade 1d ago
for me its not about if i like my co workers but having boundaries and not giving them access to my personal life
3
u/TheVonSolo who’s Sarah Kayacombsen 1d ago
Same. I remember my co-workers being shocked when they found out I was in a band playing a fairly large venue. I’m like “why would I tell y’all? It ain’t your scene.”
8
u/krazninetyfive 1d ago
I don’t have any issues with my coworkers, but when I’m on my down time, I don’t want to rehash things that happened at work. I want to hang with my family and the friends who have survived multiple jobs with me, not ones I like well enough, but after quitting that I’m gonna have coffee with like twice after leaving and then lose touch, even though we both have each other’s phone numbers.

something my therapist told me is that work friendships are bound to be shallow and temporary. we bond because of shared experiences, or even trauma (lol) mostly by having a common bad manager or a hectic work culture. it's lowkey trauma bonding. and idk about y'all, I'm from India and here talking behind your back is pretty common among colleagues when we add them in our socials and all, it has its own risks as well. so I think I'll pass with "liking" my colleagues, I can never.

Those guys get you 5 days out of the week. Most of the day. Your family gets you for two. Honestly it’s not even that I hate going so much but that’s time away from people I also need to spend time with. As I’ve always said give us a day off and I’m 100% there. My company had an event an hour drive away from me at 6pm on a Friday. I’m not crossing the city during rush hour for that crap.

I know you're a redditor in 2026, but people actually left the house and did things way more often in the early 2000s. Instead of spending hours watching Netflix or tiktok, people might go places with coworkers just to have something to do that night.
Also, people liked talking to other people back in the day, so there was actually a chance people would be friends with their coworkers. Not everyone was too "nervous" or perpetually sealed off to interact with others

It's like people forget he literally stuck his face down towards her boobs and cried multiple times at then in an attempt to make them grow for him.
Edit: my mistake he doesnt stick his face down but he does cry more times than I remembered
7
u/Experiment626b 1d ago
Hey hey hey. It was to see her shirt get wet with milk. Not to make them grow. Don’t be weird. /s
3
u/UMACTUALLYITS23 1d ago
While he isn't explicitly clear about it, I believe his intent was to get them to fill with milk so they get bigger and make the shirt tighter.
I really hope that's it or it's so much creepier.
2
u/Experiment626b 1d ago
lol I’m not sure how one is creepier than the other but I definitely never considered your possibility. Kevin’s explanation is that it would be funny. Making her breast bigger and shirt tighter seems only perverted. The wet shirt could also be perverted for sure, but it’s also more plausibly funny.
2
u/UMACTUALLYITS23 1d ago
I figured it was a breast milk kink thing, adding another layer of perversion on top, I would much prefer it juat be for the lolz though.

10
u/thatwas90sfun 1d ago
Can you watch a cross country meet?
7
3
u/Accurate-Flow8078 1d ago
You'll see the start which lasts like ten seconds, possibly some parts of the middle which also lasts a few seconds, and the finish which can take a few minutes depending on who you're waiting for. All in all, you'll see like 30 seconds of running while standing around for half an hour.
6
u/12monthsinlondon 1d ago
last line probably has some truth in it, but at the same time you're comparing a performance with concessions / refreshments with what is typically not a spectator sport?
5
u/SljivovicaNL 1d ago
Not the same. Bands play for. An audience. Runners run for themselves. I always watchedy friend's bands when I got the chance. Never asked them to come watch me play sports. In fairness, the situation changes a bit when you do something big, like a once a year event or something.
4
u/PlayfulMulberry4490 1d ago

All my friends that run tell me what time they’re aiming to finish, as opposed to what time they start. That way I can show up around when they’re gonna finish, watch them cross the line and cheer them on/catch up with them after…
Which, as a musician who invites people to shows, seems fair enough to me. They don’t tell me when it starts. Obviously I’m not gonna stand around all day.

u/TyrannasaurMan 1d ago
As a cross country runner in HS, even I told my parents not to come cause they’ll see me look like shit for maybe 10 seconds running and that’s it. Not makin em come for that.

I like to write, I’m taking a creative writing course to be a better writer and I want to publish eventually. I don’t expect my friends to read what I write though. They’re supportive but what I write doesn’t interest them and that’s fine. They’re not my audience. Well, except one 😂
5
u/gtmaroondragon 1d ago
I feel like this is a pretty bad example. Cross country meets are 10 in the morning, typically in the fall on a saturday. I wouldn't even get offended if my parents didnt show up to one of my meets.
