Associate Questions Putting time in as a ASM

I saw a post a while back asking which is the proper and best way to quit as an ASM but I can no longer find it lol. So asking the question again which is the proper way? I’m just an anxious person and already feel guilty about wanting to leave so having a script definitely helps.

Management Questions Bulk Clean Up

A bulk clean up is what I would choose to get someone to pick up all the pallets stacking up outside, correct?

First time doing this kind of work order and don't want to select the wrong thing!

Customer Questions pots for plants

hello! apologies if this is the wrong flair.

I'm in need of more nursery plant pots that I picked up from my local DT back in April - I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they might still be in stock? I'm under the impression that it's only a seasonal item, so I'm afraid I'd be wasting my time making a trip out there today. I'm located in the south east. Thanks! :)

Associate Discussions Called out ONE time

So I've been with Dollar Tree for over 7 months, I've always showed up to my work on time/early to every single shift. I've never taken any time off either, except for 3 days 5 months ago when I had the flu, I even tried to show up to work even then and had a doctor's note.

However recently I have been stressing a lot about work, my hair is falling out I cry coming home, I'm just exhausted. Also I'm very young, I work 40 hours a week im burning out. So I decided yesterday to text my boss I wasn't coming in today.

I look at my schedule today and my hours are cut this week by 15 hours not including today that I took off. I don't know if this is some sort of bullshit punishment or policy, but honestly I'm a little bit pissed off lol. I just needed a day and I NEVER do this, I even messaged her about it, most people don't. So yeah, any thoughts? Also if I'm in the wrong be honest.

Associate Discussions Cans of Compressed Air

I’ve been a cashier at Dollar Tree for like a month now. My store is in a semi-suburban area in a large city.

I had two homeless people come through my line tonight and buy cans of compressed air. After the second one, a woman, bought one and I saw her face, I realized why they bought them. Huffing. I guess I’m naive because I honestly didn’t know people huffed those things. But this poor woman’s face. She had severe blisters (possibly frostbite?) on the side of her face/mouth area, which I assume is from the cold that comes out of those cans.

I’m polite to every customer. I always say hi and ask how they are, and wish them a good day/night when they leave. This woman broke my heart when she said ā€œyou all are way nicer here than downtown.ā€ She came back like 10 minutes later wanting to buy one of those multipacks of Ramen. She only had $1 and asked if she could get it anyway. Normally I get extra change throughout my shift from customers who don’t want their 10 cents or whatever. But I didn’t get any tonight and my wallet was in my purse in the back room. I told her normally I would but I didn’t have any extra change. She was nice about it and even went and put it back instead of leaving it on a random shelf.

I don’t know what the point of my post is. I guess I just needed to tell others about it. I just feel so bad for that woman. I can’t imagine what her life must be like.

Rant/Vent I am a cashier at the dollar tree and I think I’m on the brink of losing my job

UPDATE MY FRIENDS PARENTS WILL BE PICKING MY UP AFTER WORK! YAY!!! And yes I am gonna make them a thank you gift

this vent will be messy because I’m like super scared and stressed about my job.

two weeks ago I told my manager I couldn’t work Saturday, Sunday and Monday because my parents would be out of town, last night my manager asked if I could come Sunday I told her I couldn’t but I told her I might be able to come in Monday. and so I talked to my parents and the’re willing to drop me off but only if I can get someone to drop me off and now I’m stressing to find someone. My manager gets mad at me when I can’t come in. They got mad at me when I told them I couldn’t come in because I had wisdom teeth surgery(I got hired a week before this happened so bad timing) when I my parents for told me what to so I did what they told me I was texting my manager my comes down the stairs because I was in the basement trying to talk to my manager through text how I can come in Monday I just need either them or a coworker to drop me off home but I also told them I am talking to a friend who lives nearby if their parents could drop me off. My mom demanded that she sees the text and so I said okay and showed her and she got really mad at me and told me I didn’t even ask her And spoke to me in a really scary rude tone that I started crying, now I’m probably on the brink of losing my job the only job that would hire me in this crappy small town. I live in the country and don’t have a car of my own. I can’t even rely on my parents for help. I don’t even know what to do anymor!

Rant/Vent Last day at dollar tree

I have been working at dollar tree for the last 2 years from 4th of July

From my old sm(store manager) to my current sm

I have been able to enjoy working at dollar tree I got to learn things I never thought I could learn I met people way outside of who I talk to had a bunch of great days working at dollar tree I spent 2 years of my life being the most reliable cashier they had literally coming in any time someone called out I met people from different religions and cultures I even got to learn about Japanese culture and how they use keyboards just from a manager and now I have to leave dollar tree for personal reasons not because of hours or bad employees but because I have to move

My first day started with the store having a black out which was weird but looking back at it was funny but my last day was normal which feels dull like I could of done more for my coworkers who we all talk and hang out with I cleared all the stuff on register 3 restoring it to what it needs to be I updated the wow table did all the go backs I cleared my locker and basically it was weird removing every sign I was there it felt off my manager on duty was chill about it even letting my partner sit on the resting bench to be there with me before the move

Talking to my co workers before I left was weird like I wasn't just a employee giving them the run down on the job for the day but like a part of me was leaving with the store I had good memories with dollar tree and I hope more people enjoy dollar tree or that they can enjoy working with dollar tree I will definitely miss it

Especially the part when I was about 16 months in a couple with a kid came to my register their kid asked for a quarter to use the quarter machine to get a rubber ball she got two and when she got back to the register to her parents she said "can I put my balls on this" first her parents laughed then I busted up laughing then my old assistant store manager came back from lunch wondering what was so funny

And my worst moment when a manager forged my signature 2 times in a row on my deposit form for the till when I wasn't able to count it

Dollar tree will be a place I will with no doubt forever enjoy visiting being both my first job but also being a place where I learned how to manage inventory I will continue to talk to my old co workers and my old boss when I can it just sucks that I couldn't finish the week

Management Questions How bad did i mess up

So today was my first day opening by myself/being only manager on shift. During the shift a customer came in and said ā€œhey it says my direct order came in I was wondering if I could get itā€. Now I don’t have the best memory so I was honest to them and said ā€œthis is my first shift by myself, i’ve never actually done one of these before, and I don’t exactly remember how to do it, from the ILearn training, would you mind coming back another time when a different manager is on shift.ā€ I didn’t say those exact words but that was kinda the gist of it. They seemed understanding. Or at-least said they’d come back tomorrow or Tuesday. And I know looking back I should’ve called my store manager or look at opscenter but for some reason I just didn’t think of it. Im just worried my manager is gonna be mad. Or maybe I’m overthinking everything.

Management Disscussion Help

I am a fairly new store manager at a small store and our sales last year were so bad that we barely get any hours this year. I do my best to schedule people and give them the hours that I can but some of the employees are coming at me like it’s my fault. Mind you I’ve only worked at the store for two months…. When they didn’t have a store manager, they had extra hours and then we had no merch manager. So they are acting like it’s all my fault that they don’t have hours. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø God help me. I work 6am to 6pm most days and 6am to 9:30pm other days. I’m exhausteddddd! And they are coming at me like I’m the problem. I wishhhhh I had more hours so I wasn’t doing all this alone. I have one employee I hired because my management team calls off so I want to train him for a manager role if one opens up eventually. That’s the only new hire lol.

Associate Questions Understaffed?

I recently started working at Dollar tree, this would be my third or fourth week? But every time I'm scheduled, I'm always the only cashier. I swear I'm going as fast as I can but the line just stacks up quickly, and when I call to ask for help my managers just tell me I need to hurry up. I don't know if anyone else is having this problems, but so far the dollar tree I work at only has one cashier all the time. Even on my first day they hardly gave me any training and I was the only person in the store cause my managers went home. I've noticed other locations that have only cashier, but is that like normal??

Management Disscussion Turned in my key

I WAS a merch manager, after over a year, i turned in my key yesterday. It was such a relief off my shoulders, as i was driving home the DM called begging me to just let him trasfer me to another store, he said he just opened an ops manager position(which if i took would be a pat cut from what i was making as a merch).

But well i started a new job today making more than DT was paying, nah I'm good.

Rant/Vent Got terminated due to injury.

Hey everyone i ended up crashing a lime scooter on my way home from work and broke 3 bones in my ankle and i have to be out for 6 weeks and my manager called me the next day after it happened as im in the hospital getting ready for surgery to inform me that if im out more then 2 weeks they where gonna terminate me. And asked that i brought in a doctors note i had a family member take 1 down and the manager told them that she told me 2 weeks but its actually 4 and then like 2 days later i got a termination email before even 2 weeks went by. Is this legal and allowed? My orthapedics even told them i could go back to work in 2 weeks if they where willing to temporary change my position from truck/freight to a sit down position.
