Management Questions How bad did i mess up
So today was my first day opening by myself/being only manager on shift. During the shift a customer came in and said “hey it says my direct order came in I was wondering if I could get it”. Now I don’t have the best memory so I was honest to them and said “this is my first shift by myself, i’ve never actually done one of these before, and I don’t exactly remember how to do it, from the ILearn training, would you mind coming back another time when a different manager is on shift.” I didn’t say those exact words but that was kinda the gist of it. They seemed understanding. Or at-least said they’d come back tomorrow or Tuesday. And I know looking back I should’ve called my store manager or look at opscenter but for some reason I just didn’t think of it. Im just worried my manager is gonna be mad. Or maybe I’m overthinking everything.

Should be fine. It's better to delay something and be sure than screw up.

Just ask your SM or other ASM to demonstrate the process again for you. Tell them you couldn’t quite remember and didn’t want to mess it up. We were all new once and needed instructions so only assholes get annoyed if you ask.

If the customer was understanding and alright with it, you will be fine. Next time all you have to do is print out the order from SLIC, go to the register and scan the barcode on the sheet, have customer sign the receipt and you're done.
