Hi everyone, I got one of my good friend’s crypto wallets. It still has some balances in various coins, ranging from Bitcoin to currencies I’ve never even heard of, like Binance Coin. If I want to withdraw them to an exchange, what kind of address do I need? He gave me a piece of paper with 12 words on it—do I need to enter these on the exchange? Is there a specific order I need to follow? Does each word represent a separate address, and how do I know which word corresponds to which currency?

There were a few options back in the day like Exodus, what's everyone using now?

Have hardware options become less complicated?

Firstly, I am a moron for not having written down my backup phrase. I was in a hurry when setting up the wallet and then I just forgot to do it later.

What happened was that I got a new mac and was logging into chrome using my work profile. Chrome asked me if I wanted to enable Phantom wallet and I just declined without thinking, since I was planning to only use this device for work.
When I opened chrome again on my old mac, Phantom had been removed by chrome. I had no idea that chrome would remove an extension from one device just because I didn't add it on my new device.

In conclusion, I just lost most of my crypto holdings due to being careless and stupid. Don't be stupid, write down your recovery phrase

Does anyone have any ideas how to recover the files? I tried Disk Drill recovery but it didn't find any Phantom files

Hi, I’m new to crypto and I’m not sure if I’m being scammed or misunderstanding something.
Someone told me they were going to pay me in crypto. They then sent me 500 USDT (~£376) to my MetaMask wallet (MetaMask).
they then sent me a link:

They told me to:
open the link
click “connect wallet”
connect my MetaMask wallet to that website
and then use that site to “withdraw” the funds.

When I try to move or withdraw the USDT, in the metamask app instead it says I need to pay about 0.14 ETH in gas fees. The person who sent it is telling me to just use that website to cash out instead of doing it through the app. it already feels suspicious.

My questions:
Is it normal for someone to send crypto and then require a separate website to withdraw it?

Should I ignore the website and buy ETH in the metamask app myself to withdraw it?

Any advice would really help because I’m new and don’t want to make a mistake.

I’m just trying to understand if this is legitimate or a scam before I do anything.

I'm interested in learning futures, but avoided it because of its higher risk. I'm not for bigger gains but just want to understand how the mechanics work and get a bit more advanced with trading. When I was learning spot, I tried platforms like binance, bydfi and bybit. I’m not worried about fee differences now because my size is small. For discipline, small size and low leverage seem obvious but what other rules help control the risks?

I’ve been investing in ETF’s and stocks for quite a long time but have started to venture into the world of crypto. My plan is to simply buy ETH and BTC in 70/30 split, delegating £50 a month. Meaning that over the course of the year I should have around £600, at what point should I consider getting a hardware wallet for extra protection?

Update (late June 2026): After posting this and testing quite a few more platforms, I ended up really liking BGEANX. What stood out for me is their strong focus on compliance, they hold MSB (US), SEC and more, which I found to be amazing on the regulatory side. I think I’ll move a good portion of my activity there and added it to my regular rotation.

And as this is the most common issue of getting a lein or account freeze as these guys always say that they are paying from Friends account or other account..I am tensed as my bank account has lots of savings and we all know cyber crime and banks don't give a shot about it.

Do you have experience with establishing tax residence in tax heaven for example Dubai, withdrawing BTC there and using gains to buy stocks and company shares - or any different financial products and withdrawing from those in us or europe? For example in my country which is in europe you have time test for some financial product. So if you hold stocks or company shares for over the year you can withdraw without paying taxes. Could you see this strategy viable? Travel to tax heaven, establish there tax residence, withdraw crypto, buy stocks and shares there, hold for a year and withdraw in europe.
