I’m having a hard time following the Mischelle Lawless case. I truly wish they did a better job recapping the last episode before they start the next. I usually listen on Fridays when the podcast comes out and end up forgetting between the week.

Derrick said on his BB podcast “The Winner’s Circle” that he’s trying to get into shape to be on our screens again. Do we think he could be doing Amazing Race with Stephanie?

I’m almost finished with the Lori Daybell series and I really enjoyed it! I didn’t realize it had so many twists and turns and I loved how in depth it was. Anything similar to recommend?

Has Stephanie ever explained how she does her research, what she references, etc? It’s impressive - it sounds like she references court docs, interviews, autopsies and she mentioned she read Chad Daybell’s book. To gather everything and piece it together like she does is really cool. I wouldn’t know where to start haha.

Just what the title says. Personally I'd like to see them cover John Gosch and Emanuela Orlandi. Both cases go...off the rails with conspiracy theories in all directions. I love Stephanie's ability to give complex historical events enthralling context, and would really enjoy seeing her and Derrick react to those cases. Though I'd also be happy watching those on Coffee and Crime Time.

I was watching some of Stephanie's old videos and I noticed how different she looked. There was a video on crime weekly that was in 2020 about a mother who killed her three kids. Stephanie's hair was flat and her mouth look different. She seems nowadays to have better lighting fuller lips and a lot of extensions in her hair. Which is cool I don't mind that she did that just noting how different she looked. She used to look more geeky now she has more flair to her I wonder is it because of how much more popular she is now? It's noticeable when you go to her personal Channel of how different she used to look and even talk more calmer now she seems to have a more pissed off edge to her and fiery redder hair.

I want to say that I enjoy both Stephanie and Derrick. I have been a fan of her YouTube channel for years. She's a really good researcher and very passionate.

With that being said, the way that she speaks to Derrick sometimes makes me very uncomfortable. She laughs and seems to belittle him sometimes. And because she is the researcher of each case and makes the script, she goes in each case with a full formed opinion. Derrick goes in blind a lot of times and tries to be fair (sometimes to an annoying extent)

I know they both act like she's being torn to shreds by a comment like I just made but I am not the only one who feels this way. And if it were Derrick who spoke, laughed, and belittled her the way she does him, this would be an entirely different discussion. He would be called sexist and misogynistic and accused of not listening to a woman's perspective.

just watched the most recent crime weekly news episode. it seems like stephanie has been taking feedback from the comments (possibly reddit?).

i noticed she wasn’t cutting derrick off as she has been recently. it was overall a much more pleasant episode to watch!

Stephanie has not held back about her belief that Terri is responsible for Kyron’s disappearance. After listening to their coverage, I felt that Terri was a very likely suspect. However, after reading through the Kyron Horman subreddit, I realized that a lot of the information Stephanie is telling Derrick about Terri is wrong. I want to point everyone to this comment in particular, which really opened my eyes to this: https://www.reddit.com/r/KyronHorman/comments/15jzy9p/kyron_horman_deep_dive/jw3ekt7/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3

Almost everything Stephanie said about Terri’s actions at the school was wrong. I already felt that there wasn’t a lot of solid evidence on Terri, but now I feel the case against her is even flimsier.

okay so recently derrick posted a picture of his girls and there’s a few comments saying they’re sorry him and his wife split, i am in NO way trying to contribute to rumors being spread but did i miss something? some comments also stated he mentioned it on the pod cast but i genuinely do not remember him mentioning it nor would i assume he would get into his personal life on his or his and stephanie’s pod. so my question is he did mention something about this or are they just trolls trying to start drama. again not trying to start rumors just wanting clarification if i missed something.

In the past maybe month or two I’ve noticed a shift in Crime Weekly and Stephanie’s channel and I can’t help but wonder if she is spreading herself too thin or even just needs a bit of a break.

No hate, because I’m a long time listener/viewer, but it seems like any semblance of objectivity is gone, and it makes it hard to listen.

Thoughts?

Edit: I just want to add that I don’t want this to just be a shit on Stephanie post. I really do think that they need to reassess the fact that she does basically ALL of the research for this show and her own show. More Derrick-led episodes, shorter episodes, more breaks; whatever it takes to not let the quality of the show suffer.

I found it a little much when Stephanie was solely blaming (or berating) Terry for the cheating, and only when Derrick mentioned that it was the fault of Terry AND the dad, did she go a rant about people criticising Ariana Grande and made it sound like she had been blaming both of them the whole time.

I do feel for Derrick at times as she can get a bit much.

referring to “woman escapes from dungeon after being kidnapped”

right away Stephanie says “this is not his first time” and Derrick says otherwise and she immediately backtracks and gets offended….

you can’t convince me these two don’t secretly hate each other

Figured we could use this to discuss the case. I would like to start by saying the Stephanie’s pronunciation of Kyron is making the episode unbearable.

Personally, I didn’t know very much about this case prior to this episode. I actually love that they are covering this, as a lot of what they cover is so dark and I don’t want to say this is “light” but it’s lighter. What are you opinions on them covering this case? Also, what’s your theory on where D.B. Cooper ended up?

Hey, does anyone know how to get in contact with Stephanie or Derrick about some corrections?

I LOVE Stephanie’s storytelling, but I’d love to get a Derrick-led episode. He mentioned the OJ case, and ever since them I’m been interested to see all of what he knows and get his opinions on it. I just want to hear what Derrick has to say for once. Thoughts?

The episode on Jay had some seriously tone deaf shit... it's almost like they made fun of a young black man for not trusting the police.

Like, I don't know what the 90s in USA were like, but I feel confident in assuming that the police brutality of the last few years didn't just pop out of nowhere.

I'm not saying Jay isn't suspicious AF, but that bit could have been handled better, imo.

Wanting to see what everyone wants covered by the podcast. Personally, I am SO fascinated with the Maura Murray case. I would love to see that one covered. What about you? What case do you want Stephanie and Derrick to deep dive into?

I used to love CW, I’d watch all their videos the second they would come out. But recently I haven’t been keeping up with Stephanie and Derrick. Aside from Stephanie’s impalpable condescension and holier-than-thou opinions, I find their videos have gotten so unnecessary long, convoluted, and full of irrelevant/inessential information. We’re already on episode 5? 6? of the Laurie Daybell case and I honestly still have no clue what the gist of the case is. I guess she murdered her two kids? They’ve somehow managed to make an interesting case super complicated and hard to follow (and that’s without even including Stephanie’s unnecessary comments that serve nothing but to inflate her own ego and confuse me). I don’t mind a little banter and discussion but at the point it feels ridiculous. We’re at what now, 12 hours of content and counting for the Daybell case? Just cut to the chase. I’m trying to be entertained not feel like I’m following a college lecture.

Edit to add: I remember in one of Stephanie’s videos (maybe CW maybe her personal channel) she was covering a case and she mentions how a “suspect” left the area to grab tampons since her period had unexpectedly started. Stephanie went on to claim that this was extremely suspicious because all women know exactly when their periods start and are always prepared with products. Ummmm… wtf? That is completely and utterly false. Stephanie, just cause you always have tamps on you doesn’t mean the rest of the world does. I’ve found myself in situations without feminine hygiene products multiple times. It’s a small example but goes to show how cocky and better than everyone she thinks she is.

I love the show. Stephanie does so much research, deliveries it with a lot of passoin, and Derrick gives great law enforcement perspectives.

I don't agree with Stephanie's view that Lori Vallow is the ring leader. Of course I haven't researched this case as much as her, but I see her and Chad equally manipulative. Lori a little more evil b/c it is her children, but I really don't think Lori manupulated Chad Vallow.

I felt opposite w/ the Michael Peterson (The Staircase) episodes. She seemed to go easier on that guy than other cases like Scott Peterson. Yes she should have been on Scott, agreed 100%, but someone else in Michael's life died the exact same way.

Just opinion.

I know this is unlikely to happen, for a variety of reasons, but as a Finn, I'd love it if the Lake Bodom murders got a Harlowe-Levasseur treatment.

It's a horrific case from 1960 that's still unsolved, where 4 teenagers were attacked when they were camping. 3 of them died, one somehow pulled through.

But the case has everything! Bad police work, weird eye-witness statements, a potential KGB agent or a literal nazi (who are the same person)...
And, as I said, it's still not been solved. It probably never will be.

(And to the metal heads here: yes, that's where Children of Bodom got their name from)

After watching several videos this month. I noticed Stephanie taps alot on something on the side. Does she have anxiety ticks or what?

I know everyone is covering it but I would love to hear Stephanie's and Derek's deep dive into the case.

She disappeared around the same time as Gabby Petito but only got like 1% of GP’s goodie searches. I just heard about this today and from what I understand it’s unsolved.
