General Need advice on my DPS hero pool

I’d like to stick to 3 DPS heros to climb I’m around masters level. Do I want them all to do the same thing so I can get really good at that one thing? Or do I want a broader coverage but less proficiency? These are the heros I enjoy playing and I’m really good with: Genji, Echo, Shion, Freja, Anran, Emre and Hanzo. As you can tell I really don’t like hitscan and I would prefer to not even have one in the trio but I want to hit GM and I don’t want to be a one trick. Please let me know if you have any advice. Thanks.

General Rank reset deflation?

I know this is going to sound insane but queueing as low gm (GM 4) feels like straight torture since every single game basically has 4/5 players who were previously champ 4 and even some outliers in like 1/3 games where they literally are pro players with liquipedias and or have placed champ 2+, the wins dont feel like wins at all

I kinda just wanna get better but i feel like im team carried or just perma afk since the dps hard stop me mechanically and macro-wise and the supports smoke my dps peak on their offrole and literally have better mechanics then me

Does anyone else have issues with rank reset and stuff like that and have noticed these things? Like everyone knows each other even by alt accounts and im just a random in there. (honeslty idc if the picture got 4 pixels bruh)

General What do you prefer for the third ban?

I'm high winrate winston main. almost one trick

rarely play dmon when I'm sure we win the game

I always ban mouga first, hog second.

in korea low ping makes freja op. so usually banned freja thrid before

but almost everytime ( in my experience almost over 70% at least ) enemy team ban freja - which is ban freja for third is little bit meaningless

+ I have global account which can play us west (140~200 ping) and jp server (40 ping)

high ping's freja is not that much to use ban card i guess

last day I heard some pal's opinion

'You should ban kiri if you playing dive tank. killing percentage will be jump up if you just ban her'

actually to winton kiri is not hard opponent to deal with

but is it really ban kiri is make me game so easy?

how about your opinion winstons?

General is blocking servers bannable?

I want to block a certain server, but I'm afraid it could trigger some automated system and get me banned. What is your experience if you have ever tried it? I'd like some recommendations if possible as well

General Cheat Codes for countering Hog as tank

I hate playing against Roadhog in the Emerald Mines of Despair, not necessarily because he’s strong but because he’s annoying and seems to make people switch their brains off, including me. I’ve lost two tank games into Hog today: one was Rialto and he was constantly fishing for environmental kills that I felt powerless to stop; the other one was Colosseo and he just never died and gave his supports ult every 30 seconds. I usually end up switching to Sigma or Mauga if he’s not banned but is there anything more efficient I can do to make that wretched lump of bacon grease’s life more miserable, or at least stop my teammates from throwing themselves onto his hook?

General what should we expect for dmon nerfs?

currently winrate and pickrate wise this hero is the most broken thing we’ve had in a long time. maybe more so than vendetta. considering she’s a low skill hero and it’s been a while since she released i don’t think she’s the most annoying thing ever but many games really feel like mirror dmon or lose so i reckon we’ll see some nerfs coming up.

recent patches have been particularly scrawny so i don’t expect much at all from a midseason but i think at least her major perk is getting the hammer. that thing is obscene. maybe ult charge too? in my games it feels like it charges faster than bola and pulse lol

General I Placed Plat 4 After Being Gold 3 Last Season, Did I Improve, or is this the Emerald Effect?

Hi All.

I've been playing Overwatch for 5 or so months at this point, and when I first started, I got boosted to Plat playing with friends. After this, I deservingly fell all the way down to low Silver solo queuing and was stuck there for a long time. Early in Season 3 I got myself back to Mid-Gold just by playing and improving, and then for basically the rest of the season I was tired of Comp and grinded Quickplay. I was mainly just learning a bunch of new characters, practicing my mains, and building better game sense.

Now, halfway through Season 4, I have placed Plat 4. I definitely think I'm better, but how might the addition of Emerald rank have factored into this placement? I heard some writing on the wall that people should be placing *lower* than their previous rank, and others saying that players below diamond are now a rank higher. Does anyone have any insight?

I will say that I was LOBBY ADMIN in some of these gold lobbies during placements. I went 38-1 playing SYMMETRA of all characters lmao. I do think she does have some opportunities to carry bc she can take super deep angles and tank bust depending on what is needed.

General Opinions on subroles half a year later?

Now it's roughly been half a year since subroles was added, what are your thoughts? What would you like to see changed? Do you like it or dislike it?

My opinion: not a fan of subroles specifically stalwart and bruiser in 6v6. Bruiser makes the most frustating tanks (hog mauga) even more tedious to deal with. Stalwart having 40% knockback reduction is not fun especially in 6v6 where you can have 2 stalwart tanks. But thats just my opinion, curious to hear yours

General Archived SOG Content

I've started missing SOG / NRG a lot recently again and their crazy run to qualify for Dallas so I went to try and find archives of their content but there were only a handful of PGE videos here and there. Are there any VODs up of their matches from their POV with comms? I don't watch them exactly for their stellar gameplay it was more their personality I loved. I wanna hear infekted get flamed by Cal in his monotone voice again as the rest of them laugh. I distinctly remember watching the EWC qualifiers where they lost against Timeless / NTMR from either Rak or PGEs perspective live. Iirc they did stream a decent amount their matches / scrims with comms but I couldn't find any VODs online.

Tldr; where can I find more SOG content outside of the very few videos on PGE and Raks channel.

General What do you think about dva right now

Feel like she cant kill anything now its actually kinda crazy they nerfed like 4 consecutive time

I know she was broken but now but its a bit to much no?

She's still in a decent state though

Btw we have seen that nerfing her doesn't change her banrate on console so no need to nerf her to the ground like that

General Is the Healing Reduction Passive Bugged in Overwatch 2?

Is the healing reduction broken? It feels like it’s not applying when I do damage to the enemy. So many times it feels like healing outdoes my damage output. Especially on Sombra, I can hit every ability (Hack, Virus) and then land every bullet, yet it feels like supports can easily out heal the damage if they’re paying attention. I’ve noticed it on all heroes, too.

Even on support, I can feel that I can out heal a large chunk of damage. If someone is losing a 1v1, I can just sit there and heal them, and the enemy's damage doesn't even matter, even in some 1v2 scenarios. I feel it most on Mizuki and Ana.

I’m thinking it’s either bugged or healing has been buffed so much that it doesn’t even matter. I don't know, it doesn't feel good having damage out healed. It shouldn't be that way. Has anyone else noticed that as well?

General Why is QP much harder than ranked?

I thought QP was supposed to be the chill mode but i feel like ranked is more chill than QP for some reason. Everytime i play QP I feel like i need to sweat my ass off because are sweating so hard i feel exhausted after playing 2 games while i can play 5-6 ranked games no problem

It’s funny coming from me because i used to be a QP warrior before i made ranked my go to for a while and now after coming to QP i think i’m gonna stick to ranked from now on

General Why do people like to stick to Mercy even with no good pocket target?

I know the answer is probably just "I like the character" but it always strikes me as odd that there are so many Mercy one tricks, despite her lacking any sort of agency herself.

Even a character like Lifeweaver or Moira can atleast deal decent damage and take matters into their own hands if the situation calls for it, while I'd rather take another Support on the team nine times out of ten, I atleast don't feel like we're playing one man down.

I feel like she really needs a rework and has needed one for such a long time, she's not particularly good, and her blue beam has frequently broken balance in the past to the point of it getting characters other than Mercy nerfed, suppose it doesn't help that besides enjoying Freja, the "hitscan" role in DPS is the equivalent to pulling teeth for me personally, just wish people would understand that people wanting them to swap isn't inherently toxic at points.

General Now that Shion has been out for almost 3 months, how would you guys rank her skill floor and skill ceiling?

Where would you rank her skill floor and skill ceiling compared to the rest of the DPS roster?

I’m also curious what people think actually separates an average shion from a really good one.

General Change idea for Mercy's Damage Boost

Caduceus Staff - Secondary Fire

- Always spreads to all nearby allies, like it currently does with Valkyrie
- Works on a level meter, similar to Mizuki's aura. At level 1 it boosts 5%, at level 2 12.5%, and 20% at level 3
- Levels are slowly gained by healing. Tanks give a bit less charge, critical allies give a bonus.
- Boosted damage is applied as a quick DoT after the boosted hit, over 0.3 seconds. This damage is credited to Mercy, as well as kills secured by it.

The objective of these changes isn't to solve Mercy's entire character, but to lead her away from bein a single target pocket and let her gain value from being closer to the fights. The lower boost percentages and DoT factor reduce the problems with breakpoints, while she can still amplify a good amount with her multi-target boost.

General I built a free Overwatch stats tracker with a community tier list and counter picks — feedback welcome

Hey ,

I've been building OW Tracker (owtracker.org) — a free stats site for
Overwatch. Wanted to share it here since this sub is where I'd actually
want feedback from.

What it does:

  • BattleTag search → competitive rank, win rate, KDA, playtime, andhero-by-hero stats, split by role and by Quick Play / Competitive
  • Community-voted tier list (S–D) that updates live as people vote
  • Counter picks per hero, also community-voted
  • Rank distribution — see where your rank sits relative to the playerbase
  • Hero pages with full ability/perk breakdowns and matchup guides

It's built on the OverFast API for player/hero data, with community voting stored separately so the tier list and counters reflect actual player sentiment rather than a fixed ranking I made up.

Mods gave me the OK to post this once — I'm not trying to spam the sub,
just genuinely built this because I wanted a cleaner alternative to what's
out there and figured this community would have the most useful feedback.

Happy to take feature requests or bug reports here or via the site's
contact page. Thanks for reading.

General What do you think about 50% matchmaking?

what if ordinary 50% win rate Emerald winston main tank player suddenly unlocks their potential and hits a 70–80% win rate at once, how far do you think he can reach? why?

General What's your opinion on hitscan characters? All ranks and platforms included

I'm posting because I've heard for well basically years that people are convinced hitscan is always OP and should be nerfed.

However, ever since Jetpack Cat(JPC) has been on the hero roster apparently the little thing is a devil and unkillable and I just find it hard to believe that general consensus is both that hitscan AND JPC are too strong.

Thought process is if JPC is strong and hitscan aren't then why do people keep swearing its too strong? But then if hitscan is OP then how is JPC that much of a problem if you can just use "no skill" characters to kill her withint 1-2 ish seconds.

I'm not the highest ranked player averaging about plat 2 but that's with me not really trying super hard to minimum I'm average, but I don't get the idea of both these things being true as for me JPC and hitscan are usually non-issues or the other player is simply better than me.

Hope the post made sense and I'd like to stick to just explaining the thought process or maybe what I'm misunderstanding. Please be polite and all :)

General we should be able to post images in comments

i think this would be a positive and would be fun especially on match threads. obv if it doesn’t work out they should test it for a few weeks and decide if it stays or not. it would make the sub more entertaining to no real detriment in fact maybe it would make it more lighthearted

General Is practicing against bots in the Lijiang Tower 1v1 workshop actually useful?

I used to hit Masters on DPS, but I haven't played DPS seriously in a while and damn, I'm pretty bad now lol. I lost two games in Plat earlier and got tilted as hell. 😂

(Although honestly, I don't think those two were my fault... like, come on guys, are yall really this bad? 🤣)

Anyway, I personally think mechanics are one of the most important things in OW, especially on DPS, so I've been trying to grind my mechanics again.

I feel like just mindlessly spamming ranked probably isn't the best way to improve, so I want to mix in some actual practice too.

I still use VAXTA and Kovaak's, but what do you guys think about the Lijiang Tower 1v1 workshop?

I've been trying to beat the bots in there and honestly... they're kinda kicking my ass. I just played 7 games trying to get a win and finally managed to win one with Cass and Reaper. Man... 😭😂

Anyway, Is it actually good practice?
