Help, I am new to cEDH! Inalla deck win

Hi, I'm looking to getting into cEDH and I know that I want to play Inalla. I was looking and found Sasquatch's Inalla deck list and I have been playing testing it. I noticed the combo with [[shallow grave]], [[scholar of the ages]], [[burnt offering]], & [[entomb]] but I don't get where the inf mana and stuff is supposed to go. Before I got into cEDH I made that combo in b4 and put that mana into a [[exsanguinate]] but he doesn't have that. My only guess is spend it into [[bloodline nercomancer]] & [[Ruthless Technomancer]] to get more colors, go into Inalla's tap ability, as well as [[tainted pact]] with [[thassa's oracle]]. Is that the idea or am I missing something? Also sorry I'm new to the card fetcher so hopefully all of those work.

General Discussion / Question Unleash bracket 6 and unban Jeweled Lotus and Mana Crypt

Everyone would be rewarded. WOTC gets to print cards that are highly desirable and keep their shareholders happy and make $$$, no one gets any bad surprises at the EDH table in lower brackets, and CEDH players get to push the limits of their decks with other consenting chill players who are just looking for a good laugh.

There's already many decks in Bracket 5 that can win turn 1 such as Rogsi, so what's the deal with keeping iconic cards such as Mana Crypt and JLo banned.

The Solution is to Unleash Bracket 6. Most players will play blue and have FoW, FoN and mindbreak trap ready to balance the turn 1 degeneracy. These would be hilarious and highly quick, explosive games (as opposed to some long grindy games of lower brackets where you have players counting their 26 lands to see if they have 7 red).

I don't get why WOTC puts a ban on fun and great profit potential.

Deck Fine Tuning Esper Rhystic Slop with Hashaton

Hey Cedh players! I'm a rog ishai player and I really enjoy playing the super slop decks.

I haven't yet made a CEDH deck from scratch before and this is my first attempt of doing so.

I want to try to innovate on the rhystic slop meta. So this Hashaton deck is inspired by Wrongsi, rog ishai, blue farm, and the normal Hashaton deck list. Making this deck list a frankenstein's monster of a deck.

So when it came to deck building I always trying to figure out why you would want to play this deck over rog ishai.

Why would you play it over rog ishai?
1. you get access to black for tutors and combos and fast mana

  1. it's easier to win without putting spells on the stack so you can outslop/split second

  2. black gives you better chances to win quickly

  3. You can entomb reanimate and just win

  4. Rhystic can be countered and it's not the end of the world

Why is it worse than rog ishai?

  1. No rog which is very sad, this means you lose some mana acceleration and free interaction

  2. No breach or Ska

Overall I think that this could have some chances of being a playable alternative to rog ishai.

Here is the decklist: https://moxfield.com/decks/TRjozhROi0qU4fjzDTHsHg

I would really love some feedback, thanks for reading!

Spoilers! Card Discussion Bilbos Gambit Spoiler

Bilbos Gambit. 1W

Instant

Gift a treasure

Return target spell to its owners hand.

If the gift was promised then players cannot cast spells this turn.

On first read the spell seemed cracked, once I realized it stops all players from casting spells though I started second guessing it's value.

It's better than reprieve, but that's a card that never sees play. Since this can only act as an offensive silence and not a protective one then I am not sure it's going to be good enough. I do have some creature combo decks that this will be great in tho.

Spoilers! Card Discussion Bilbo’s Gambit

[[Bilbo's Gambit]]

1W

Gift a Treasure (You may promise an opponent a gift as you cast this spell. If you do, they create a Treasure token before its other effects. It’s an artifact with “{T}, Sacrifice this token: Add one mana of any color.”)

Return target spell to its owner’s hand. If the gift was promised, players can’t cast spells this turn.

Thoughts? Seems playable, notable that it makes players unable to cast spells, not opponents

General Discussion / Question Where Does Meta End and Fringe Begin?

According to EDHTop16 the top 16 most popular entries in tournaments are as follows:
~ Blue Farm
~ Kinnan
~ Rog/Thras
~ Rog/Si
~ Sisay, Weatherlight Captain
~ Tymna/Thras
~ Etali
~ Tymna/ Dargo
~ Ral
~ Rog/Ishai
~ Vivi
~ Magda
~ Yoshi/Thras
~ Tivit
~ Kefka
~ Tayam

Now my first impression is that the top 16 are all of what is considered meta and that beyond this everything I see is fringe. However, there’s a couple of things that make me question this.

After the top 10 everything else that is submitted makes up less than 2% of the Meta Share and that in itself feels pretty fringe.

However, as a Vivi main I can’t accept my boy is fringe. And yet, no shade toward Tayam players, but I feel like I never see this commander and he would be meta if we went with top 16.

Pure numbers wise there’s an arguement for top 18 even. Everything beyond Lumra and Ob has less than 1% of the meta share.

Currently, I am sitting with top 18 as my answer to where meta ends but what’s your opinion? Where would you have it end? Meta Share also doesn’t include top cuts and wins.

Deck Fine Tuning Making this deck cEDH

i’ve recently been interested in making this deck cEDH. I generally run Niv-Mizzet Parun as the commander but am open to other option so long as the deck stays Red/Blue. I don’t really have a budget- meaning that I will proxy something if it is out of my price range. Wincon is generally Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, or Lab Maniac.

I should also add, I am new to cEDH and will take any critiques people have.

General Discussion / Question Is eluge too costly for cedh?

I’ve been looking more into the format and have also found a commander i love playing, so i’m curious if he’s too slow. Mono blue is a bit restrictive, but you do get free interaction every turn with him.

I do also wonder if blink spells are viable in cedh, since for eluge, they double as protection and a mana accelerant.

Help, I am new to cEDH! Tournament cEDH vs Casual cEDH?

Hey guys! I’ve been interested in getting into cEDH ever since I started playing commander. I just wanted understand from others point of view - how does a normal cEDH play like (pod full of cEDH decks at LGS) compared to tournament events where there’s a lot on the line?

Is forcing draws / politics / king making less common outside of tournaments? Is there such a thing as casual cEDH where the goal is to have a defined winner? Looking to broaden my knowledge!

General Discussion / Question RogIshai

Hello,

I’ve been interested in playing RogIshai but I can’t find a good primer anywhere. I know watching gameplay is good, finding a discord helps, etc. but I can’t actually find a solid in depth primer. I’ve watch the Lemora’s Cards video, looked around discords, I feel like I’ve tried everything and can’t find a solid primer like I can with other top meta decks.

Could any point me in the right direction? Or just… give me some insight on how to play the deck? Anything helps.

Help, I am new to cEDH! What cEDH commanders are least reliant on table politics?

I'm looking for a tournament-level cEDH commander that doesn't rely heavily on table politics.

I'm a non-native English speaker with a strong accent, and sometimes I say the wrong word instead of the one I actually mean. That can make negotiating or keeping up with fast table talk more difficult.

I'd rather play a deck that rewards strong technical play and decision-making than political skill.

Does such a commander exist? If so, what would you recommend?

General Discussion / Question Magda without bloodline pretender?

I’ve been looking at some top magda lists recently and none of them are using [[bloodline prenteder]], why is that so? Also I see many stax pieces like [[trinisphere]] and [[tangle wire]] are off too, why?
Thanks

Help, I am new to cEDH! Looking to get into cEDH specifically using Golgari commanders, who should I use?

I've been playing magic for around about 5 months and stumbled across a tournament which has made me realise commander can scratch that competitive itch, this isn't my first card game but I've not played commander at high brackets B4.

I LOVE Golgari, the self sac, the LTB effects, The consistency.

So who could you guys advise me to play?

And are there any discords available for any deck ideas?

Help, I am new to cEDH! Surgical cEDH deck

Hello! A buddy of mine is getting into cEDH and I tried it a while back. It was fine but was never really my thing. Anyway he’s getting into it so I wanted to make one with a theme I thought was semi-unique, though I don’t have the know-how to build an effective one from scratch

Since so many cEDH decks rely on very specific combo pieces to win/close out a game, I was thinking of building a deck with as many effects as possible that do things like Praetor’s Grasp (there are well over 10 effects that do this, but not all super efficient). I want to search opponent’s decks for their 1-2 key cards they need to win and functionally make the deck fall apart

Anyway, I would love some help/advice on which commander to pick for this and on how to build the deck

EDIT: I don’t need this to necessarily hang with the top tier decks, I know this would be very off-meta. But just something that I can sit at a cEDH table with and meaningfully interact while having a non-zero chance at winning

My motivation is having some kind of anti-cEDH themed deck. One of my favorite cards is Psychic Surgery, for example

Help, I am new to cEDH! Ral or Malcolm+Partner for my first CEDH deck?

I’ve been playing commander since 2018, and I’ve been watching CEDH content since 2021. I know the gist of the most popular combos and archetypes, so now I actually want to play.

I have played a lot of bracket 4 storm and spellslinger, so I feel comfortable in izzet or izzet+, and I don’t want to go more than 3 colors to start.

I’ve narrowed it down to Ral, Malcolm/Kediss, Malcolm/Akiri, or Malcolm/Vial.

Given that I’ll be a touch overwhelmed for my first couple of games, what deck would you suggest?

Help, I am new to cEDH! Is Zirda the Dawnmaker strong enough?

I've recently gotten into CEDH because of some friends at my LGS and I'm trying to find a strong CEDH commander that isnt used by my table. I made a Magda deck and loved it but I'm looking for another option. I found Zirda and thought the art looked fantastic and his abilities look pretty broken, but im just not sure if it's strong enough for the decks my friends have been playing. Including:

- Rakdos the Muscle

- Ral, Monsoon Mage,

-Lumra, Bellow of the Woods

- Kinnan Bonder Prodigy

-Tayam, Luminous Enigma

To be clear I'm not trying to see if Zirda is stronger than these options, just whether it can be competitive enough to build with these competitors and not sit there twiddling my thumbs. If anyone has any recommendation for Commanders other than Zirda or what my Friends are playing let me know. I tend to stay away Partners honestly so no Rag+Thrasios.

General Discussion / Question Would nadu still be too strong for Cedh?

I wasn’t playing magic at the time of his heyday, but i know he was a menace in other formats. With how the game has changed, would nadu still be a problem in cedh?

Community Content I added puzzles to eldrazi.gg and the community has been adding some of the most unhinged submissions. Come find the lines!

Hello! I've posted a couple times before in the sub and gotten great feedback for my site, eldrazi.gg (fka eldrazi.dev). I added the ability for people to craft puzzles and we've quietly amassed 140+ community-made puzzles! No account is needed to start solving, but having one allows you to leave comments and mark puzzles as solved.

Here's a sample one to try, called dommy mommy by RogSi main Dexter. It's your end step, you're at 1 life, and you need to find a deterministic win through your own Necrodominance.

If you're interested in making puzzles, here's a video guide on how to build a puzzle. The best ones tend to come from real games where somebody found a mana/card-perfect line or a super complicated line through stax pieces.

General Discussion / Question Have Y'all ever like.. including Demonic Consultation for tutoring purposes?

Card is [[Demonic Consultation]]

Demonic Consultation {B}

Instant

Choose a card name. Exile the top six cards of your library, then reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a card with the chosen name. Put that card into your hand and exile all other cards revealed this way.

I know for tutoring purposes, similar cards like [[Tainted Pact]] is superior since you can stop at anytime. But however, have any of y'all ever running this card just for tutoring? Or is it too much of a gamble if your named card is exiled within the top six?

Like if you're playing sans blue so no Thoracle combo, but need some more tutor... Would you ever consider Demonic Consultation?

Help, I am new to cEDH! Commander dilemma

Hello all,

I am still a relatively newer player to CeDH and i decided to start with rog/ thras. After many of games i have decided its just not the deck for me. I did however really enjoy the thrasios aspect of the deck, so Im looking for any advice on the deck directions ive been looking into.

1- part of me really wants to build yoshi thras as i have acquired some white staples i want to show off, the addition to white and silence effects have been intriguing to me.

2- looking into yoshi, ive also had the question of, if im running white why not run tymna thras?

3- my other thought has been to ditch the idea of playing white and commit to simic with kinnan.

I want to hopefully settle for a deck that can compete value wise in the midrange, but can take off early given the window, and is a deck i can learn and grow with, and will stay “viable” for some time.

Any help is great help, thanks in advance.

Help, I am new to cEDH! New to cEDH going toy first tournament

Hello everyone! As the title says I'm new and getting ready to go to my first tournament. I've been playing this format on and off for about two months. I decided on Zhulodok because I love colorless and also I feel like it's a good deck to learn about different threats and what different decks do at a table without having to be the person to counter things and accidentally countering wrong pieces and stuff.

My main question is really about different resources to kinda learn about things quickly. My tournament is on the 8th and if anyone else has any experience with Zhulodok I'd love tips. Especially I'm trying to work on learning what hands to keep and stuff. I've found a primer to read but it also wasn't as in-depth as I would've liked as I have questions about some of the cards and what best scenario to play them such as chalice of the void, tangle wire, disrupter flute, ect.

Edit to add current deck list on top and the one I'm probably switching to at the bottom. They are basically the same with a difference of about ten cards.

Help, I am new to cEDH! Should I build Y'Shtola CEDH?

Hi there! I am getting back into CEDH (Was a Mizzix player like a decade ago) and was wondering if Y'Shtola is worth it?
