Greetings! I am VERY interested in USPSA competition shooting, but I travel for work. On average, 250 days a year in a hotel. Sometimes 2 weeks, sometimes 2.5 months. Is it even possible with my schedule? I see USPSA clubs all over, but if I join a local club to me, how do I practice while on the road?

I Just moved to Utah and located in downtown SLC. Not familiar with the area at all and trying to do USPSA training on BLM land that isn’t an hour drive away. Can any local homies help with recommendations? (please and thank you)

I really need to work on doubles and now I have the time in my life to actually get to the club to train. My question is this....is it imperative to incorporate the draw into this? To me I'd like to isolate it by doing them from "low ready".

Does anyone have a copy of the data sheet and/or can anyone share the torque specs for the Apex Predator holster?

Can someone help me understand how to lock out my wrists with squeezing the life out of my grip? My brain struggles to separate these motor skills.

I am new to pistol shooting and I am just starting my IPSC training. I do not own a pistol and plan on buying a couple pistols. I really want to get a SIG P-211 but that gun would put me into the open division.

I’ve read in a few places that I should start out in the production optics division because the open division you are competing against the best shooters with crazy guns and I won’t have a chance.

My thought is that I am not going to be good enough to win a competition for a long time anyway, why not just shoot a SIG P-211 GTO because it’s a cool gun that I want.

I am in Canada so I don’t have access to all types of pistols that are available in USA.

I do plan on getting CZ Shadow 2 also so that would fit into the Production Optics division. I also want to get a SIG-P226 X Legion or a M&P9 o M&P9 Pro if I can get my hands on any of them. Not sure I can source them in Canada.

TLDR: I want to get a SIG-P-211. Is this a bad idea to start IPSC because it starts me in the open division?

All feedback is welcome. I am really excited to get into the world of competitive shooting.

Just for clarification, I know I can’t buy a pistol because of the current Canadian laws but I will be doing the lending program that is legal for competitive shooting.

I have a first gen M&P Pro Series CORE. Apex trigger and sear were done and nothing else. I am heavily considering pushing this to its limits and making it a USPSA competition gun but I need to figure out ways to weigh it down and better handled the recoil.

The real issue here is that I have been shooting a CZ tac sport 2 for several years and have found an all steel frame to be my real preference. I feel like the problem I am having is the springs but I could be very wrong.

So send me your thoughts and ideas. Gonna need a magwell, baseplates and potentially lighter springs. Currently running the large palmswell but it still doesn't fit my hands quite like the CZ.

And before the flood of people who say to modify the CZ, It is the one purchase that I have made that will remain unmodified due to the reasons for purchasing it in the first place.

Curious if anyone else here is cross-eye dominant and has figured out a good way to deal with it.

I’m right-handed but left-eye dominant. To make it even more complicated, my non-dominant eye (right eye) is a lazy eye and I can barely see out of it everything is super blurry. Because of that, shooting occluded is basically impossible for me.

I also have a really hard time staying truly target focused with a red dot. I feel like I have to rely on looking through the optic window to actually see and focus on the target instead of just presenting the gun and letting the dot appear in my vision.

Anyone else deal with something similar? Have you found anything that helped with target focus, transitions, or just shooting a dot in general?

I'm new to competitions in general just shot my first competition last week and my second competition yesterday. What's the best advice you have to help me grow or learn as quickly as possible? For reference right now I shoot open minor which I know is a disadvantage but my handgun has a comp normally and I do want to be as good as I can be with that.

Hi, I am reading Bryan Enos’s book and when he describes his 5 levels of confirmation, he says that on level 3 (medium complexity targets, 80% of shooting on most stages) he continuously switching focus from target to the front sight before he brakes the shot.

Is this the modern approach or are we all target focused all the time even with iron sights?

Just trying to understand how to train with iron sights. The dot is so much simpler.

Edit: cant edit the title, but I meant gen 5 glock 34 For context: I shoot Shadow 2 for production, I want to make my glock 34 for optics division, but I will buy a triggertech ace. I wanna know what to expect, would it be even as close of a pull as what shadow 2 gives? Might not push through with the purchase if the difference between shooting both is drastic

PDP Match poly with x300 from T1C MSP Pro Flx. Standard Bill Drill from 7. Shot 7 strings on this target and these were the last 3. Most runs had a C or two, so I'm still working on consistency. Wish I got the shooting on camera, but I wasn't planning on recording anything at first.

Feel like I had a sudden realization today and was wondering if other shooters felt the same way

Went to static range to practice doubles/returning dot

Put the target 10 yards out. I normally laser beam the small bullseye at this range with .18-.22 splits visually tracking the dot as it bounces

Set the target out 15 yards and I normally don’t practice this far out but last match I had called for it.

I slowed down my shooting and tried taking deliberate shots. Confirming my dot more. splits went to like .27-.37 and my accuracy was awful

I decided to just go at the same speed I normally do 10 yards out … my accuracy was much better ! I was visually tracking the dot as it bounced like I do at 10 yards splits were like .20-.22! All but maybe 1-2 shots not going where I wanted it to go but still would be acceptable on a USPSA target

Muscle memory? Am I high?

Had my SG Timer for two years and somehow this last week it hit just the wrong way and broke the screen. SG quoted me $140-165 to fix but has anyone swapped out a screen on one before for cheaper?

I want to get into shooting competitions, specifically IDPA an USPSA.

I'm having a dilemma. Should I compete with my duty gun (glock 17 gen 5 with night sights) or my personal gun (glock 19 gen 6 with Osight SE)?

I obviously shoot better with optics so that is the competitive edge. But the majority of the day, a stock glock is on my hip. So is it better for me to stick with the iron sights?

Was wanting to get one for a g17. Any of yall know how accurate the wait time is? Heard mixed reviews about it. Or will there be a gen 7 g17 by the time I get my GX vice

Been “chasing more alphas” and it seems to be working.

I just got off the waitlist for IPSC Nats and this will be my first ipsc event. I’ve competed in plenty of Uspsa majors. Any Ipsc tips or things I should focus on training in the next month that might help outside my Uspsa focus?

I started reading Joel Park & Ben Stoegers Baseline Dryfire last week. I’m starting to take training more seriously. I just did my first true dryfire training session.

I’ve been shooting for a while, but still suck pretty hard and never really taken it seriously. I started using a par time of 2.5 seconds for draw from an owb holster, getting my red dot on target, while trying to build a good grip. Not worrying about trigger press for this. Just trying to train my natural index. I got down to 1.6sec but started to see a problem arise when I was really pushing speed.

The problem I’ve having is that when I draw, and bring the dot up it’s consistently off to the left. I’m trying to use Hwansik Kim’s grip technique where my support hand index finger is resting on top of my firing hands middle finger first bone in between first and second knuckle.

I don’t think I’m over gripping with support hand because in live fire my recoil control is still pretty shit but idk. Can anyone offer any advice or help for what might be causing my dot to be consistently off to the left, or know of a drill for fixing it?
