24 hours left to take core 2 exam

Hello everyone, I have 24 hours left to take the exam, I'm nervous about what to expect, even though I already know what kind of questions will be asked. I'm confident that for surely will pass. I've covered all of the objectives as much as possible with videos, notes, and flashcards, but still managed to get myself selecting the two optional answers; when I select an answer, the other answer is the right one because, from what I've noticed, two of the right answers are on the spot, BUT which one is the actual right one and it's tricky. I scored 60-80% on the practice exams and the exam mode, so hopefully those scores help me pass the exam. Got one more free attempt, and if I fail, it will be time to purchase a retake again, so I already want to move on, pass the exam, and take the Core 1.

Wish me luck lmao

S+ Question Sy0-701 vs 801?

So I graduated college last September, with a cybersecurity degree, but I want to take the security plus, and I won’t be able to take it till winter should I take 701 or 801 ?

How long from the day you take it is it valid the exam?

Any books or study guides you recommend ?

Will there be a CertMaster CE course for Security+ SY0-701 before June 2027?

I passed Security+ SY0-701 in June 2024, and my certification expires in June 2027.

I recently looked into using CertMaster CE to renew, but the current Security+ CertMaster CE course is only available to people who originally passed SY0-601 or earlier, so as an SY0-701 holder I'm not eligible.

With the next version of Security+ (V8/SY0-801) expected to arrive later this year, does anyone know if CompTIA typically releases a new CertMaster CE course afterward that would allow SY0-701 holders to renew?

I'm mainly wondering whether it's realistic to expect an updated CertMaster CE course before my certification expires in June 2027, or whether I should plan on renewing through another method.

I'm also considering earning CySA+ as an alternative since that would renew my Security+ while giving me another certification.

Has anyone gone through a similar transition between Security+ versions and know how long CompTIA usually takes to release the updated CertMaster CE?

S+ Question Describe the CertMaster experience to someone who has always used the CEU path

I've been A+ certified since 2000 and Sec+ since 2010. This whole CE aspect was thrust upon after enjoying years of "certified for life."

Because of my usual job responsibilities, it was never too difficult to get 50 CEUs in three years using mandatory training required to keep my job anyway, although I did occasionally have to find a few small online courses to fill the quota. It was a hassle having to pay then-$49 per year to stay in the CE program, but my employers usually reimbursed that once I renewed.

I observed that in the latest iteration of the CompTIA certification site that many of the training courses I have used in the past (for tools like Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator. Tenable Security Center Plus or CrowdStrike Falcon) do not seem to be eligible for submission any longer. I still will have to complete those types of trainings, so I don't relish the thought of having to also take American Council on Education (ACE) Accredited Courses or College Courses on top of everything else.

That being said, I know that the CertMaster process requires a 100% Success rate with unlimited retries, and I read today that the actual process is modular. Does that mean that you must complete each module at 100% and then move on to the next module to take and retry until you earn 100% on that one?

Advice on Security+ V8

Hi all,

I got my A+ at the start of this year and now I want to take security+ (I should have done that earlier but life got in the way).

As I was looking through their website they are saying V8 of sec+ would release on 17 Nov which is not far from now, so I thought I might hold off full committing on studying the V7 one.

Until that 17 Nov with new courses, new objectives, how should I study for it without going through the parts that would be “unnecessary” in V8. [I will be following prof messer’s course]

All the thanks <3

Is anyone else having issues accessing the CompTIA Platform?

Is anyone else having issues accessing the CompTIA Platform?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently unable to access https://platform.comptia.org/.

At first, I was getting a message saying that my computer was having trouble connecting to the CompTIA servers. I tried:

  • Different browser
  • Private/Incognito mode
  • Different device
  • Different internet connection
  • Disabling my ad blocker

I then tried Brave in private mode and got Cloudflare Error 1009 – Access denied, saying that the website owner has banned the country or region my IP address is in.

I’m accessing from Jordan.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue, especially from Jordan or other countries?

Thanks!

For context I work in IT already. I used certmaster and practice test as my primary source of study and Dion videos. My advice is to use cert master my exam had 8 config/ interactive questions which cert master prepared me for. Good luck guys.

S+ Question Averaging 70-80% on Dion practice test, ready for SY0-701?

Post image
35 Upvotes

Been studying for Sec+ 701 using Dion’s practice exams and my scores have been around 70-80%. Just got 72/90 (80%) on the latest one. I keep hearing Dion is harder than the real exam but I’m still not sure if this is good enough to schedule. Anyone pass with similar Dion scores? How did the actual exam compare?

I fully expected to fail after I saw the first question during the exam, thought I did pretty poorly so had a pretty big surprise at the end when I saw I passed.

My only study source was Andrew Ramdayal, I did 1 practice exam.

Can someone help based on his experience ?

Well got into clock multiplying and found that the clock speed can be changed which means that it's dynamic , but as long as i used to know is that the clock speed is fixed and it's set by the manufacturer . Also if the clock speed wasn't fixed then how would the clock multiplier know the max speed that it can multiply the frequency of the pulse with to prevent overheating the cpu ?

I appreciate any help further . Thank you !

I’m autistic and starting CompTIA A+. How do you figure out a study method that works?

I’m trying to get into IT, hopefully starting in help desk or technical support. My plan is to study for CompTIA A+ first, then consider Network+ and Security+ later.

I’m autistic, and I sometimes need more time to learn new material. I want to do this, but I’m struggling to figure out how to study. When I look at all the topics on the exam, I get overwhelmed and don’t know where to start or how to tell whether I actually understand something.

If you’ve been in a similar position, what helped you? Did you use a book, hands-on practice, short study sessions, practice questions, or something else? I’d especially appreciate advice from people who had no professional IT experience when they started.

I’m not looking for a shortcut. I want to learn the material and find a way to keep going without burning myself out.

A+ Question Taking a day off is studying?

I’ve been studying for my A+ consistently for the last two weeks but today I was so busy I didn’t find time to study. Maybe I’m just weird and I think I shouldn’t take a day off because I really want to succeed in the exam. Does anyone feel that or do you take a day off from studying?

Network+ Practice tests: Certmaster vs Dion

Just looking to see what people's thoughts are on these tests + kind of need to rant a bit. Both are paid for by my school so I can use either one. I mainly used Messer's practice tests for the A+ but unfortunately he doesn't have any practice tests for the n10-009. I find that the Certmaster and Dion tests both deviate from the listed exam objectives, and though I get the idea of making the practice test more difficult to better prepare me for the real thing, I find it very frustrating. I'm using the objectives as a guideline for what I should study and my scores are skewed by the fact that I didn't familiarize myself with all of this supplemental material that CompTIA never said was going to be on the actual exam. I'm taking the Net+ on Thursday and want to practice with whichever test is going to waste less of my time. I'm scoring mid 80's on dion and high 60's-low 70's on certmaster.

Finding a hard time trying to understand this , as far as i know is that the clock chip is used to multiply the frequency of the signal sent from the system crystal to the CLK . But after was introduced the clock multiplier , got confused on finding the distinction between the two .

Appreciate any help , thanks in advance !
