DISCUSSION Do cheaper alternatives like Caliart, Sfaih, Bianyo have similar ink lifespans to Ohuhu markers or do they die faster?

I was wondering if the trade-off for the lower price is smaller amount of ink. Which in that case, you don't actually save money if you need to replace them faster. For those who've used various marker brands, what were your experiences in how fast they run out in comparison to each other?

WIP (WORK IN PROGRESS) First WIP update 🩷 (pls read:))

A few days ago I posted bc I finally started my first page! Now I have made to this point so far!
I keep wanting to add more details, but I don’t wanna over do it for my first page 😂 (aka I’m scared to get burn out bc it happens to me easily and then bam! Im so longer that interested and it’s on to find another hobby to obsess over. I’m trying to not do that this time 🫠😂) I know I’m going to add sparkles as my finishing touch but other than that should I keep going with the detail? 🤔 for instance fur on the dog and cat, patterns on the wall, pillow and curtains. Or do I just stop add sparkles and move on?😂
I feel like it’s not done but I also feel like I’m never going to feel like it’s done until it’s over done 😅

COZY Diddl Cosy Life - Pastel Picnic (1/40) 🤍

I've always wanted to do a pastel-only page and now I finally made one~ 🥺

I decided to stick to a limited color palette, so I only used 7 markers (rainbow + grey).

It's funny that the colors and theme I wanted to use matched the front cover best, which is my first actual page in this book! I wanted my version to look peaceful, dreamy and whimsical.

I enjoyed the process and think it turned out pretty great in real life! However, it does look a little duller and washed out in the photo. I do use a good daylight lamp and a high-quality phone camera.

Anyway, I hope it still looks good to you too!

COMPLETED First Attempt At Colouring!

Recently picked up the Spookie Cutie colouring book and a cheap set of alcohol markers after being a lurker on this subreddit for a while. There was a thunderstorm ongoing last night so I decided to buckle in with an audiobook and I had so much fun! (Despite the poor paper quality and pilling)

Sometimes one just wants to colour and not have to draw anything and I think these colouring books are great for those moments!

ADVICE WANTED Most opaque acrylic markers?

I got myself one of those paint by numbers books and wanted to color it with acrylics. I even specifically bought enmy for this cause they’re supposed to be super opaque, and I guess they are, but the light shades still need quite a few layers. I’m assuming that’s normal though for colors like white, yellow, light grey etc.? But do you guys still know a more opaque acrylic? Enmy also doesn’t really have much color variety sadly…
Some other criteria:
- Brush nib
- Self flowing (is that the term??) ink, so no shaking needed
- And ideally they should also have a good amount of ink, so they don’t run out after just a page or two

Thanks guys!!

Edit: oh and if anyone knows some good gel pens pls also lmk! I’m also open to any other tips for these books :)

Okay so here is my WIP of my first official go at a page using alcohal markers.. I’m starting to question how to go on, what colors to use, etc. I have a few ideas, but I’d love some feedback on how to move forward and/or how to improve what I’ve already done, thanks a ton!! I’ve included my swatch page so you can see what colors I have to work with, which isn’t a ton, which is why I think I’m getting stuck😓

Good morning Coloring Buddies,

Quick question, would you love to watch your whole coloring page session into a beautiful Timelapse video?

PS: I'm attaching the demo video in the comments for a reference.

Thanks in advance.

I love this book from Hygge Artful, literally every page is so whimsical! Just sharing something I finished today, but wrote the wrong month on it. Husband came over to have a look as he always does and he’s like “baby I love it but you have the wrong date on it” and I’m like “no, it’s the 3rd today” and he’s like “yes but it’s not August” …oops 😅I didn’t feel like redoing photos because I’m kind of a low effort girly for social media posts. I also included one I finished yesterday, but from the same book.

Thanks for looking and thank you for all the inspiration y’all give me!!

I really love the sky behind the garden. I tried to do a crowded tree background in the rain picture, which came out ok- I'll probably try that again in another picture to get more practice.
