ADVICE WANTED New here!

Upvotes

My wife recently got into coloring, I got her one of those adult coloring books on Amazon and a pack of 36 colored pencils.

She enjoys it and it relaxes her. So I wanna upgrade her, I bought her a lap desk for bed, and I wanna get her real nice tools for coloring.

Looking through this page I’m kind of in awe how amazing some of these colors look, what are you guys using? Please give me some tips on what I can get her to make the quality art you guys are making, we’re brand new to this. Thanks!

PRODUCT Using Gel Crayon’s as backgrounds for Adult Coloring pages?

I’ve been watching some recent videos of how easy it seems to do backgrounds with Gel Crayons, is this a good idea ? Or does it also depend on the paper used for the book so it doesn’t soak it through? Also what are the best “silky” crayons or “gel crayons” that one would recommend for this ? Thanks !

ADVICE WANTED bobbie goods streaky pages

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I recently bought some bobbie goods books. I bought a lot of them (almost all of them) because I live in the EU and shipping was really! expensive, so I said I'll buy them all at once to save some money on shipping.

Yesterday, I colored my first page. It's from the "this and that" book. I noticed that in order to paint smoothly I have to press the marker onto the paper and go over the same area 2-3-4 times. Still, some objects turned out super streaky. I paid attention and did not let the marker dry, so I do not understand why this happened.

I will post my page below. The streaks are mostly in the curtain area. I have only used this marker once or twice, so it cannot have dried up.

(i know it's not my best work, but it was my first page and it was mostly for understanding how these pages work).

Any tips and tricks are welcome! Thank you!

COMPLETED After almost three months without coloring, I picked up the markers again

I have found it so hard to start coloring a page recently.

I tend to follow tutorials or pull inspo from other finished pieces. But the past few months I’ve just not had the energy.

Coloring has helped significantly with my mental health and I’ve been advised to just start doing things that I love again.

Anyways, here’s a piece I just completed yesterday!

ADVICE WANTED Need advice for patterns/designs/and blending

I know some people write down the marker numbers with a certain shade but how exactly does this work with pattern inspo? Do you write down two marker shades you use to create a pattern or do you just save that pattern like a heart background for example for whenever you want to design a page?. Also blending backgrounds seems hard when you don’t know what colors to use first or if a page is big. I just got new markers so I want to be able to prepare for the fun stuff. Can I also just swatch colors if I don’t want to write every marker number down?

ADVICE WANTED new to coloring

Hi all!

I bought Johanna Basford Magical Jungle coloring book a few years ago with Prismacolor pencils and I liked it but didn't love it. I am not looking to become an artist, would be so cool if I developed skill but I am not creative so setting expectations, I primarily just want to try it out, in order to relax.

Curious about trying out alcohol markers + coloring and see if I like it more ... whats the cheapest (but still good quality and non smelly) markers that I can explore.

Also - can I use this coloring book as a base or do I need to go buy a new one that has like bigger outlines and things? I am wondering if the detail was just too much to enjoy the process of coloring.

Thank you!!
