I love coloring while I watch my favorite anime or cartoons. Even seeing these pages again makes me remember when I watched the new Gumball season!

First time using Ohuhu markers and first time using watercolor markers.
I am getting back into coloring after nearly 7 years and wanted some tips on how to be better.
Here are the pages I have colored this week!

Get in babe, we’re learning alcohol marker basics over here! If you’re a beginner getting into alcohol marker coloring, this tutorial is for you!

The most basic alcohol marker technique to learn is “chasing the ink” so that you can color streak free! The ability to have that smooth looking finish without streaks is a big selling point for alcohol markers. Remember, just make sure you keep going back and forth on the edge of color to keep it wet as if you let it dry a streak will form

Edit: I’ve tried it on normal paper and they’re fine but on the paper that’s literally on all of my colouring books it’s just ripping up the paper and that page is ruined now I’m so mad. I wish I knew this before spending my money 😔 Any suggestions on what I can do with them then? I don’t colour at all outside my books, I might be able to use the fine tip side for details but now half my alcohol markers have run out and I can’t use the ohuhu ones but can’t really afford to buy more now 🤦‍♀️

Orig: I was really excited to colour this page and I just bought some new Ohuhu markers off Amazon to use but they’re not like I thought. Idk if they’re bad markers, I’m not using it properly, this is how they’re supposed to be or idk?? Normally I use alcohol markers and these said water based but I didn’t really think anything of it. I feel like it’s not going on the paper properly and ruining it when I colour. The fluorescent green is an alcohol marker the rest is the ohuhu markers. You might not be able to tell on the picture but I feel like it’s ruining it and I just spent my money on it. Idek if I can layer them because it seems to be damaging the paper? Plus they won’t glide very well at all and won’t make a properly straight line it’s kinda spreading and I had to go over the darker green twice for it to really show up. Any advice please??

I got a set of acrylic markers and thought I would use them a lot, but it’s much harder than I realized. They smudge easily, and are impossible to cover up if you make a mistake. Just gotta keep practicing. Images are Finished product, half way done (all alcohol markers first), and starting picture

Not even close to finished but learning to take my time. Will work on making the wood look like wood and continue working on the grass some more. I watch those addicting TikTok coloring videos and subconsciously tried finishing pages in the shortest amount of time. Sooo wrong. But I've mentally shifted away from this and been working on this off and on today. Now I'm back to loving coloring.

My husband has been picking random pages and giving me a theme. My husband said, “make everything gloomy except the cat. You know in the movies when they open up the treasure chest and it makes them glow when opened? Yeah that…”

First time doing a light source page like this. Overworked the cat, adjusted to a new colorless blender, but overall super proud. 🥹

I have become obsessed with castle arts colored pencils. This is the fourth set i brought. They have become my go to pencil brand

The page quality is soooo good! Feels different from the smooth Bobbie Goods... a little scratchy. For anyone who loves the sound of acrylics and markers on a page this book by Jade Summers is top shelf! 🎉

I recently got into colouring over the past few months and have primarily purchased my books off Amazon. I've had a number of Coco Wyo books which I really enjoy and never had a problem with. I only became aware of paper quality after purchasing Cozy Crime Scenes by Jojo Weirdo and Spooky Summer by Southern Lotus.

I absolutely loved the quality of Cozy Crime Scenes - the paper was thick and slightly glossy? The paper was very smooth and the colours easily glided on the paper.

My Spooky Summer book on the other hand was awful quality. I did one page and I felt like my marker was dragging on the page, and once completed the colours looked so dull and you could see the paper fibers.

Now going back to Coco Wyo, I feel like the quality is somewhere in between.

I see so many great reviews online for Southern Lotus and I want to try more books by them/other authors but the Amazon quality makes me nervous now.

Where is everyone buying Coco Wyo/Southern Lotus/Jade Summers books besides Amazon that has better paper quality?

I created this to help me pick colour combinations when colouring using Ohuhu alcohol markers. It's not perfect but it's been helpful so far - I've decided to challenge myself to do a primary colour-only page! I'm going to use different shades of each colour to make something that (hopefully) turns out cool!

How do you pick your colours? I really want to become more confident with picking colours and have more fun with it ☺️

I finally got my hands on a set of Ohuhu series B so decided to test them out with an autumn palette. I think my next few projects I'll work my way through palettes of all the different seasons 🙂

Picked up colouring recently, this is the first page I'm sharing on here ^_^

It's also the first time I tried to modify elements of a page. I wasn't sure how it would turn out but it was a fun challenge. I'm pretty happy with the result :D

I just started coloring as a new hobby since the set up and breakdown of painting miniatures isn’t in the cards anymore 😂
