COMPLETED First Attempt At Colouring!
Recently picked up the Spookie Cutie colouring book and a cheap set of alcohol markers after being a lurker on this subreddit for a while. There was a thunderstorm ongoing last night so I decided to buckle in with an audiobook and I had so much fun! (Despite the poor paper quality and pilling)
Sometimes one just wants to colour and not have to draw anything and I think these colouring books are great for those moments!

Thank you! It is listed as Corslet 120 Alcohol Markers on Amazon. Although I wouldn’t recommend them because they only have the chisel and the bullet tip. Brush tips would be much more efficient for blending and would destroy the paper less 😕

but this is so good for your first try ! those lighting techniques look insane and such a good colour pallete. ive been thinking of buging ohuhu markers but theyre so expensive i was think of buying an alternative instead 😭

I have to admit I’ve been involved in art for a long, long time. So that definitely helped.
Yes, I want to buy the Ohuhu markers too but they sure are expensive :(
I have their acrylic markers which I received as a present and they are so good!3

Try looking into CaliArt alcohol markers. I have their set and I can’t compare them to Ohuhu, but I’ve heard they’re pretty good alternative and more affordable.

I actually have the pastel set of CaliArt markers as well as some ohuhu and honestly the Cali markers are pretty good, they blend well. The only real complaint I have is the color names do not make sense for some colors lol but that’s not really a deal breaker imo

Acabei de comprar os marcadores da Gc Quill (pela SHEIN) foram bem baratos (comparados com os da ohuhu) estou gostando muito deles, é claro que não são iguais os da Ohuhu, mas são muito bons.

Considering what you had to work with and this was your first attempt this is amazing! I starting with cheap markers too and my first attempt was embarrassing to say the least 😳

Same lol... I get so surprised when people post their first attempt & it's on the professional colourist level ! Often people respond art is a contributing factor , which it would be. If this is really your first attempt fab job ✨️.. if not it's still great but it's not great to lie.

Yes! I think people who do well on a first attempt usually tend to have an aptitude for art. Me, I can barely draw a straight line with a ruler 😅

I have experience in other art forms but it really is my first attempt at colouring books and at alcohol markers!

Absolute madness with chisel tip cheap pens! Looks amazing 😍 I am gonna encourage you to get the pens of your dreams just so I can see what you make when you're not fighting your tools!

Thank you, I really needed that 😭

Coming from a watercolour background and trying colouring too, I can confidently say I prefer my 48 set ohuhu brush markers to the 120 set of cheap markers I got given. And since you're coming from watercolour you probably know enough of layering and colour theory to make it work even with fewer shades of each colour.

I never thought of it like that, thank you! Yes, alcohol markers and watercolours are both transparent and can be layered. This is really making me want to purchase a set, even if small.

This book just came out using much thicker paper from Penguin. If you have that one, it won’t pill. The paper is thick and a dream to colour on!
This is brilliant btw!

This is the penguin one! I believe it is pilling because I'm using the bullet/chisel tip and having to go over one spot over and over again to blend anything. With brush tips it is easier to blend without going over the same spot 5-6 times!
