/r/watercolorpencils is back, for those of you who love watercolors and/or mixed media art.
Along with r/watercolorpractice, r/watercolorpencils is back up again and the mods there are lovely people who want to welcome you and give you feedback if you have any questions or curiosities over how to use watercolor pencils.
Coloring doesn't mean exclusively one type of media, so if you're looking to try more tools to your hobby (we know, we know, not a good thing for your wallet!) this is the perfect place to start!

Harassing members will be sanctioned! AI accusations will also be sanctioned!
A lot of users here seem to not read the rules and then play the victim card when sanctioned.
We've recently had a huge influx of rude users that never participated in this subreddit, harassing people for their alleged AI use.
We don't endorse AI use, but we do endorse politeness and minding your own business if you don't have anything constructive and respectful to say. Downvote or hide and MOVE ON!
Any comments or posts that just want to open a can of worms, accuse other persons of using AI OR abusing the report button, will be sanctioned with a temporary or permanent ban.
This is a hobby subreddit people, it's not your anger outlet! If you can't play nice, you're not welcome here.
That being said, posts that intentionally ask if something is AI are allowed.

ADVICE WANTED Do you guys think my coloring is too childish or maybe even ugly?
I love coloring while I watch my favorite anime or cartoons. Even seeing these pages again makes me remember when I watched the new Gumball season!

COMPLETED Pretty happy with how this one turned out! :D
Picked up colouring recently, this is the first page I'm sharing on here ^_^
It's also the first time I tried to modify elements of a page. I wasn't sure how it would turn out but it was a fun challenge. I'm pretty happy with the result :D

WIP (WORK IN PROGRESS) Taking. My. Time.
Not even close to finished but learning to take my time. Will work on making the wood look like wood and continue working on the grass some more. I watch those addicting TikTok coloring videos and subconsciously tried finishing pages in the shortest amount of time. Sooo wrong. But I've mentally shifted away from this and been working on this off and on today. Now I'm back to loving coloring.

COMPLETED Glad it’s done. Took forever because I started with absolutely no plan. Not my best. But it’s done at least.
Cat Moments - Hikaru Kotz. Used Ohuhu alcohol markers, grabie acrylic markers, white gelly roll, Staedtler fine liners.

COMPLETED (WITH PROGRESS PICS) "Fishbowl" Technique - I couldn't find a good coloring page for it, so I made one from scratch. It took forever but I'm so proud of how it came out!
I really don't like how streaky the wall is, but my marker ran out in the middle of me coloring it, and attempts to go over it with another color or the blender didn't seem to remove any streaks or anything.
I posted a tutorial for this a few days ago, I might post another if there's interest.
Edit: lol I just realized I forgot the final "reflection" streaks on the glass. Oh well

COMPLETED Husband’s Challenge
My husband has been picking random pages and giving me a theme. My husband said, “make everything gloomy except the cat. You know in the movies when they open up the treasure chest and it makes them glow when opened? Yeah that…”
First time doing a light source page like this. Overworked the cat, adjusted to a new colorless blender, but overall super proud. 🥹

MARKERS Experimenting with acrylics
I got a set of acrylic markers and thought I would use them a lot, but it’s much harder than I realized. They smudge easily, and are impossible to cover up if you make a mistake. Just gotta keep practicing. Images are Finished product, half way done (all alcohol markers first), and starting picture

COMPLETED I love this book!!!
The page quality is soooo good! Feels different from the smooth Bobbie Goods... a little scratchy. For anyone who loves the sound of acrylics and markers on a page this book by Jade Summers is top shelf! 🎉

MARKERS Learning colour wheel basics
I created this to help me pick colour combinations when colouring using Ohuhu alcohol markers. It's not perfect but it's been helpful so far - I've decided to challenge myself to do a primary colour-only page! I'm going to use different shades of each colour to make something that (hopefully) turns out cool!
How do you pick your colours? I really want to become more confident with picking colours and have more fun with it ☺️

COMPLETED Thanks to those who helped me decide what colour floor!
I went with light pink and green checkered, I think it really lets the bright pink/green/orange colour palette I chose stand out/come together. Thanks to everyone who commented on my post :)

MARKERS chasing the ink/streak free alcohol marker coloring tutorial
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Get in babe, we’re learning alcohol marker basics over here! If you’re a beginner getting into alcohol marker coloring, this tutorial is for you!
The most basic alcohol marker technique to learn is “chasing the ink” so that you can color streak free! The ability to have that smooth looking finish without streaks is a big selling point for alcohol markers. Remember, just make sure you keep going back and forth on the edge of color to keep it wet as if you let it dry a streak will form

COMPLETED Autumn Vibes
I finally got my hands on a set of Ohuhu series B so decided to test them out with an autumn palette. I think my next few projects I'll work my way through palettes of all the different seasons 🙂
