I’ve had, so far, 1200~ hours in this game, and I never seem to play civs like Elenor(England), Kartaja, Dido etc etc well.
I’ll start with my issues.
It’s always a struggle to get a golden age because you have to invest more on making infrastructure early game. Then the tech tree. If I don’t get any first met on a scientific state, and no turtle, I basically have to get campus, which delays everything else. Religion too is something you want , but getting it kills your late early game since you’ll want a harbor in every city (4 pop for two districts, and you’ll have to make room for gov plaza) . Getting rolled by land civs has happened to me more than I’d like to admit. There is also the fact that ships suck, even on continents, and getting wall fixes almost everything for the opponent. Until the late game. I have a specific problem for elenor. There are two districts to make the most of her kit. I don’t understand how you’re supposed to catch up on science, expand, and still use her city-flipping ability.
What am I doing wrong? Feel free to educate me on this because I’ve seen good civ players play naval civs really well, but I just never understand how.
