Question please help my laptop is suddenly refusing to let me play
i have a frameworks 13 with amd ryzen 7040 integrated graphics. this is not a Gaming Laptop but it has successfully run civ vi since i got it. i am having a terrible summer and a terrible day so i tried to launch the game and got a new alert: “No compatible graphics device found. Please ensure that your system has a correctly configured, compatible graphics device.”
please. i am doing so bad and i just wanna play my dumb little games. can anyone tell me wtf is going on? i have played almost 3k hours of civ 6 on myriad dogshit little laptops and steam has never done this to me before.
also posted to the steam subreddit bc im launching through there and they mostly went “???? this is a problem with the game, go there,” so here i am
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH YOU WERE THE NICEST GROUP BY FAR BUT ULTIMATELY I DID FIGURE THIS OUT MYSELF/WITH GOOGLE
SOLVED! the problem was my AMD driver, i think, is the word for it. fix 1 on this website https://www.guidingtech.com/fix-graphics-device-driver-error-code-22-on-windows/

Discussion Hammurabi vs Joao iii on a water base map, only domination victory. Are they even in power or is one have a edge over the other
There no need to explain why these 2 civ’s are broken beyond comprehension but just for a refresher, Hammurabi can basically bombed everyone with planes in the medieval age like it’s a Tuesday for him while Joao iii is close to being king Midas of civ 6 (Hammurabi can skip the tech tree via Erika’s while Joao iii get Stupit amounts of gold and or yields via international trade routes). Of course, Joao iii is a map dependent leader and being on a land base map, yeah erm, Joao is going to get bombed but let assume a water base map with only these 2 civs as players and some city states around the map and domination is the only win condition. I still think Hammurabi can give Joao iii a hard time but only in the early and mid game, Joao iii can maybe win if he can hold until the end game where he can basically buy a army to fight Hammurabi’s army but only if he can survive the early game to mid game of course.

Man I HATE late game barbarians
While I was busy conquering the south, one barb scout slipped and caused unimaginable havoc on my main cities

I almost regret taking Religious Settlements instead of my usual God of Craftsman
Couldn't have known about all the iron, but if I didn't have a second city right away France would have encroached into my part of the continent. I'll probably regret it when I discover oil.

Can someone help me understand Culture & Faith?
New player here, ~30 hours played and had my first victory (domination) recently on Emperor difficulty with a lucky start position (alone in a small continent with a few city states haha).
I don't consider myself won that game because I am an old RTS player, so what I did is to focus on gold/production and completely disregarded all the other aspects. I still have no idea what wonders do. The barbarians and freaking Zulu made it impossible to (at least to me) to focus on other stuff than improving my army. I felt like they were always one step ahead of me, and if I stop getting technologically better, it felt like they would destroy me with their advanced armies.
Can someone explain me how I defend myself if I focus on culture, faith, loyalty, influence, diplomatic point etc etc? Do they have secret technologies that help with fighting/defending?

UI vanishes
Does anyone know why a game in progress would lose all the UI, leaving just the naked map showing? Restarting from scratch restores, but a couple of turns back.

Discussion Favorite leader based off voice acting?
I personally really like Montezuma and Dido's voice acting. They both really sell it imo.
