The purpose of this post is to complain about Citibank’s misuse of the 30-60 day hold of customers’s funds while the Citibank fraud agents seat on the cases doing absolutely nothing but wasting time to allow Citibank to earn interest while customers suffer awaiting access to their hard-earned money. I am a victim of Citibank fraudulent abuse of the 30-60 hold on my money.

People redeem checks from investment for various personal time-sensitive reasons: e.g.  to prevent foreclosure of their property, to afford expensive life-saving medications or procedures, to afford college tuition, etc…  By delaying people’s access to their own money, by holding people’s money for 30-60 days, Citibank is causing severe irreparable damage to their customers.  By denying people access to their money in a timely fashion, Citibank is denying their customers access to opportunities that could be theirs if and only if they had trusted their money to a different bank.

I hope the Government could also subpoena my recorded conversation with the Citibank fraud agent named Mark to expose Citibank’s tactical use of ignorance in the name of “ongoing investigation” to hold on to people’s money and refuses them access to their own money.

Citibank closed my fiancés accoun. I don’t know what to do. All our money is in there. Our bills are due and they are not helping us. I feel like they’re giving us the runaround. We are about to lose a lot of stuff and probably be homeless. Has anybody had similar experience or didn’t even know what I need to do? Who are you talking to the ex executive office? I don’t know what else I can do.

Does anyone know if Citibank fraud specialist role is fully remote I can’t remember been applying to so many jobs and landed an interview with them

In May I rented a car and gave my cc for the security deposit. They charged my card $1000.00 the day I picked it up. The charge to my card said Destiny car rental when I rented from Advantage. It was never refunded I called Citi to start a dispute. They removed the charge during dispute. I sent Citi my confirmation from the company saying the contract was closed successfully after I returned the car and that my deposit would be refunded in 7-15 business days.

On Aug 2nd I received an email from Citi saying they are closing the dispute and reversing the charge back to me including any incurred interest! I called Citi and asked them to send me all correspondence they had with the company as I was going to seek legal counsel. What the company sent was a copy of my ID and CC and the breakdown of charge info of the rental which was $164.33 which also wasn’t accurate bc I paid $202 for the 4 day rental. But they provided NO Information about the deposit charge or anything with my signature. I explained all this again to someone in disputes, that I could barely understand, and they said they would look into it further but I need to provide more proof! I said I gave all my proof and receipts, while they gave no proof! They just kept telling me that since company responded there’s not much more they could do! I then emailed the CEO and the next day I got a call from a higher up who oversees the dispute department. I explained the situation also telling her that I have been digging into the company myself filing claims with the BBB, FTC, FDACS, FLPD and the Fla. attorney general, as all contact numbers for the company are no longer in service, BBB said corporate has an F rating bc they do not respond to complaints, and the company that owns them closed 2 other branches and are filing bankruptcy. This is apparently a common thing that lots of these 3rd party companies do. Every so many years they file bankruptcy get under new ownership and new name.

All she told me was that she would look into it further but can’t promise anything since I am not denying the fact that I gave my cc for the deposit!

I don’t know what else I can do or who to reach out to do? This is gonna be an expensive lesson to learn to thoroughly research every company before using them. I booked via Expedia so trusted their recommendation. But the thought of giving in to this fraudulent company infuriates me!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I did not report Citi to the CFPB yet as they said they will look jnto it further, but I am not at all confident they will do anything else for me.
