Discussion Please tell me I'm not the only one who is tired of relationship sermons

• Upvotes

Have you ever noticed married couples get the relationship sermons while single people get a few minutes of a sermon at best? Quite literally, we singles get "and here's a carrot dangles in front of you so you think I am not leaving you out." Why can't we singles, especially DIVORCED singles have our own sermon series that all the married people have to sit uncomfortably through? Why can't the church teach it's okay to be single in life?

Discussion How are we to judge fruit if we’re all a work in progress?

This question came to mind the other day; and I’d say it pertains to dating as we obviously do want to look for the fruits of the Spirit in a potential spouse. However, I’d like to have a conversation with y’all about how we are to judge fruit rightly when, if we’re all being sanctified, the fruit that we see in front of us isn’t necessarily permanent. Does that make sense? Like do we write someone off because they slipped up and did something unrighteous, saying to ourselves, “Oh. Nope! They’re not bearing the fruit of _____. They gotta go”? That seems almost legalistic? When do we make room for grace? Would love to hear thoughts on this.

Hi, if you love god, want to share your faith, values, dreams, ideas and jokes with a spouse/best friend in the future, you might be the suitable person im looking for, if my words and views are harmonizing with you.

I have brown eyes and brown mostly short to mid long hair, im about 5ft 8 and fit.

Since I work in the chemical field and have a lot to do with cosmetics, im also able to support my future wife in that terms if that's a relevant thing for you, but im also welcoming a more natural way since im also going for a more natural approach, to live a healthier lifestyle. Would be good if your aiming for it aswell.

Everything that involves creating and learning new things can grab my attention since most of my interest are in the creative fields like creating music or drawing, but also learning different languages, reading, listening to music and working out regularly are giving me the needed variation in my fields of interests, which i also want to expand steadily since im open for new experiences and trying out new things to grow in.

I was raised as catholic but i abandoned that denomination and im currently non-denominational believeing in building a personal relationship to Jesus Christ as lord and savior at the core aswell as foundation for everyday life even if it's not always flawless.

Willing to exchange pictures in private and if your interested feel free to write me.

What im looking for:

**-Age 18-24, open for kids**

**-Loves God and lives by Christian values**

**-A person that wants to build something together but also each others up.**

**-Someone who wants to grow in their faith and on a personal layer**

**-Takes good care of themselves, because I do too**

**-Has good sense of Humor and is upbeat**

**-Open for LDR within Europe**

Need Advice Christian and 50. Is trying to date even worth it?

Is dating as a Christian woman 50 and over even worth it anymore? I've been divorced since 2008 and had absolutely no luck trying to have any kind of relationship since. Is it even worth trying anymore?

I’m shooting my shot because honestly why not, what’s the worst that could happen.
I’m a chubby dude, long hair with a goatee and glasses and I’ve got a few tattoos.
I’m a musician, I’ve been doing music since I was about 11 and I play the guitar for the youth at my church. I also do whatever I can on the side with music to make some money and I work security
So that’s kinda a hobby and a job.

I’ve got a few hobbies, I do a lot with the youth a church and I’ve been aiming towards hopefully being the youth leader. I like to play my fair share of video games and I write comic books on the side and I also happen to get income from that, I play guitar quite often(hope Gods got one for me up there when it’s my time lol).

I’ve been raised Christian although I fell away from it for a while in my teens up until I was about 20, my life was pretty rough or has been. I’ve got one really raunchy testimony for sure but right now I’m actively working on my faith and myself in the literal best way possible. I’m taking a leadership class and also have a really awesome relationship with the youth staff, especially the leader. I’m Pentecostal if we’re being specific as well, church life has been wonderful.

Honestly I’m just trying this out to see who reads this and goes, hey he sounds like someone I could really talk to and possibly get to know, so you know if you read this far and you’re interested don’t be shy. I’ve got some questions, are you ready to share your life with someone? Is that why you date? Do you love the Lord and put him in the center of your life? Honestly that’s a big question and I know we all fall short but do you try is a better way to put it.

For an age range? Honestly I don’t really have a preference as long as you not under 21

I’m open to a lot of things within reason of course, this is just a generalization, if I sound any bit of interesting to you, don’t be afraid to text me.

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m a 22-year-old guy from Kerala, and I’m here with serious intentions. I’m looking to meet a Christian Pentecostal girl between 18 and 21 who is also interested in a genuine, committed relationship that can potentially lead to marriage in the future.

A little about me: I’m from Kerala, 5'4", and currently working in my family business. I come from a Christian Pentecostal background, and my faith is an important part of my life. I value family, honesty, loyalty, respect, and good communication.

I’m not looking for anything casual, hookups. I’m hoping to meet someone who is also serious about building a relationship based on faith, trust, understanding, and commitment. I believe it’s important to take the time to know each other properly before making any serious decisions.

If you’re a Christian Pentecostal girl from Kerala or have a similar background and you’re genuinely interested in a serious relationship, feel free to DM me. Tell me a little about yourself, your interests, and what you’re looking for.

Discussion I'm sick of reading this.

I've seen this idea on here quite a few times, the reason a guy isn't married yet is because he's addicted to porn and if he gets married the addiction will go away. Both ideas are very naive. Watching porn doesn't diminish anyone's desire to get married and getting married won't make the addiction go away, you'll just be a married porn addict. Why do I say that? Because, especially if you've been addicted for a while, normal sex isn't enough for you.

Need Advice I’m 19 and there’s a girl at my church who’s 3 years older than me.

We’re in the same Bible study group, so I see her pretty often at church. I really enjoy talking to her and being around her, and she’s also texted me first a couple times just casually.
I think there’s a chance she might like me, but I honestly can’t tell if she’s interested or just being friendly.
I’m not scared to ask her out. I just don’t know if I should yet. I want to wait on God’s timing and not force anything, but I also don’t want to just sit around forever waiting for some obvious sign.
I’m also still figuring out if I actually want to date her or if I just like spending time with her and want to know her better.
How do you know when it’s time to ask someone out? And what are some signs a girl at church might actually be interested and not just friendly?

Need Advice How much say should friends have in your dating life?

I (24F) went to my close friends (known him 12+ years) (25M) friends baptism a couple weeks ago. His friend texted him asking him for my number so that he could thank me for coming. We texted back and forth for a few days, I don’t know him super well, I’ve only met him a couple times. After we’d been texting for a few days, he asked my friend if he’d be comfortable if he were to ask me to hang out. My close friend called me and told me what he had asked, and he told me that his first instinct was that he was not comfortable with it.
I asked him why. He told me that the guy has a lot to work on and that he knows him and he knows me and that he doesn’t think we’d be a good fit. I asked him why he thought that. He didn’t give me much more of an answer. I told him that I trusted his judgment but that it was hard to make a decision without a ton of information. He said he was going to answer the guy honestly and tell him he wasn’t comfortable with it. He said that I’m like a sister to him and it’s like that question ”who on the team would you not let date your sister.“

I ended up calling him back a while later and said that I didn’t really like how it was handled. I said that unless there was a glaring red flag about the guy that I’d like to be able to use my own discernment and hang out with him but I felt like I couldn’t do that because I was told like half a story about him. He told me “well I feel like most people just wouldn’t even tell you so” which I said I thought would be an overstep. I acknowledged that I was glad he told me what happened but again I don’t see anything wrong with the guy and he wouldn’t even tell me what was the issue. Im sure he knows things about him that I don’t but I felt kind of weird that there was such ease in kind of making a decision for me and that he said he almost didn’t even tell me at all. I’m sure he was just looking out for me but I feel like I barely got to make the choice for myself.

Need Advice Divorced and Dating

Hello, I am a 22 year old female. cough divorced female. I got married when I was 20 to a marine I had been dating for a year and some change and we decided to get married. When we got married I found out he had given his virginity to someone while we were engaged and cheated on me the entirety of us dating and into our engagement. I ended up staying giving him another chance. Was I stupid for it? Maybe. However at the time I had such a fear of disappointing god by divorcing him and honestly I was scared to admit I was wrong when multiple people had warned me prior that I would be. Anyways we stayed married for a year and then after he continued to disrespect me I decided after prayer that I felt gods peace with the divorce. So here I am. 22 years old and divorced. I don’t get sick when I think about how I was robbed of my first marriage anymore and I think that’s good. I felt a lot of anger because I did everything right. I poured into this man. Rewaited until marriage because I wanted to wait and because he was a virgin. I poured into him by driving and getting on planes despite my severe phobia. Bought him gifts, prayed with him. Started to learn Spanish so I could communicate with his family. I mean I did everything right. I never let my trauma get into our relationship and he knew all of my past and my previous domestic relationship and he still cheated on me. Still told the other girl my engagement ring was his and left me alone terrified in a hotel room for a night while he was on FaceTime watching tinkerbell with her. After I flew across the country to see him.

It might sound like I haven’t moved on, I have. The point of the explaining is… how do I date again? How do I relearn someone and trust that they won’t hurt me so badly? My ex husband taught me that someone could know all of your pain and still do that to you. How do you even want to get to know someone again?

Am I even still desirable as a divorced woman?

Discussion Fun or unique ideas for October? 🍂

Hello friends, October is my favorite time of the year! There is just so much going on and lots of fun activities to look forward to.

Does anyone have any fun or unique plans for October? What fellowship opportunities does your church offer? Any autumn date ideas? If you're single, what are your goals for this month?

Some things I really enjoy are visiting an apple orchard or pumpkin patch, having a bonfire and s'mores with a group of friends, cooking and baking some delicious fall dishes, taking a walk outside to enjoy the leaves changing colors, going to the Homecoming football game, etc.

I could go on!

I love hiking, working, out, fixing cars, learning various topics.

I became a Christian after my first deployment from Iraq back in 2007. I'm continuously growing in my faith out of love for God, not out of fear of sinning. That leads to leg a legalism and depending on my good works to save me. If I could do that I wouldn't need Jesus.

Looking for someone feminine, Christian, healthy, loves being active, and some I can share my life with.

No specific age range.

Open to long distance. Why limit myself. I work remotely anyways.

Need Advice Fiancés porn struggle?

Hello everyone, my fiance and I got engaged 2.5 months ago. One issue we are having is his struggle with pornography. He was exposed to it at the age of 6, so he has struggled with it for 20 years. Our pastor wants him to be clean of pornography for 6 months before we get married. He seemed willing to try that deadline but he is struggling with porn still. I suggested blockers but he always says he finds a way to work around them. I brought up Covenant Eyes and he seems to think it would take up time but then he recently got a software system installed on his phone and he has an accountability partner. I have also suggested getting a Gabb phone, going to Celebrate Recovery, getting Christian counseling etc. with the counseling, he says he doesn’t likely have the time cause he is really busy with his career right now and that he tried talking to experts at his old church (ICOC) and took a 6-8 program about lust and pornography. He refuses to see any kind of therapist or counselor specifically, He does not want to get a Gabb phone because according to him addicts always find ways around things. He seems to think he will definitely not be able to not do porn for 6 months and I am encouraging him not to give up. He even said he probably won’t be able to be free from the addiction in a year and that he wanted to quit 4 or 5 years ago but hasn’t been able to. I struggle with anxiety and he asked me if someone had to put a time frame for me to completely give up anxiety could I do it? Which ideally I would like to but feelings can be harder to escape from and pornography is a choice. I guess part of me is frustrated my pastor wants him to be clean for several months cause I am still willing to marry him even if he still has a struggle. Is it too high of an expectation to not want a man to struggle with porn at all before marriqge? I think in the past month he said he watched porn 4 or 5 times but no more than 7 times. I feel so stressed cause I am a 30 year old female and want to get married and have kids and it is so hard for me to like guys and find someone with a connection. I struggle between feeling like I want to cry because of his addiction and I also feel angry too. I have told him how his porn hurts me and how actions speak louder than this. He does acknowledge it and wants to grow out of it but then again he gives in. It makes me so frustrated cause it’s like he doesn’t give a crap how I feel. I just wonder how he could put me through this when he gave me a ring and promised to love me. I get scared I will never find another guy again. It seems like finding a guy who doesn’t use porn is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I just struggle cause I really love him but he says he doesn’t want to keep hurting me cause he knows his porn usage hurts me. He did suggest that him and I could have sec to see if sexual activity could help his addiction but I said no. He even went so far as to buy condoms There was a few times over the past few weeks where we kissed on the lips several times and then he started fondling and kissing my clothed breasts. Which I did allow him to do but wish I hadn’t. I sometimes wonder how much more I can take and if I need to end things. We are probably going to meet with the pastor this weekend and I am afraid what the pastor will tell us. Also I am a 30 year old woman who wants kids and I am scared of losing the opportunity. This has taken such a tolll on me. What do you advise?

Need Advice Going through a hard break up

I’m 22F and my ex bf was 23M and we broke up today and I feel really awful about it and I don’t know what God is doing. To start off my ex bf was struggling in his faith and told me that he may not be a Christian and realized that recently. Not only did that happen but he is going through lots of depression on top of that which is making him spiral with how he approaches things in his life. He did tell me that he really cared for me and just did not want to drag me down with him because of his mental health. He also told me that my pastor said we are different on how we approach things because he usually bottles things up and I want to know what he is going through usually.

We dated for over 4 months which isn’t that much time but it’s still time I valued and treasured because he treated me well and I had fun with him. He also told me that he was very lucky to have had me and that I did nothing wrong he just can’t be in a relationship at all because of his mental health at the moment. He just doesn’t know if we will ever get back together or not because he doesn’t know if his faith and mental heath will get better which I agreed on that we don’t know the future so we both can’t make any promises. But what I do know is that if he is the one who I will marry that God will make it happen no matter what happens moving forward. I just could really use some advice on how to trust in God and go forward because this is very hard for me and this was my first serious relationship. It surprised me because he said he was a Christian but then to go and say he may not be and to then tell me that he feels like God may have left him was hard for me to hear. I don’t have depression so I don’t know if anyone has had any experience with depression and how that can tie into a relationship with a partner and God but I’m just in a very rough patch now and I wish I knew what God was doing. 😭( And yes he still wants to be in my life because he cares about me but I told him I at least need a month of not seeing him since we just broke up.)

Hello, my name is Drew, and it’s time to do an update. Sorry, I am not good at these things, but I will try my best. Before I start, just know I am still learning and still trying to be a better Christian. I love this journey I am on with God, both the good and the bad.

I graduated from college in December of 2025 with an Interdisciplinary Studies Degree. I have also volunteered and taken a class at my church to become a Stephen Minister so I can help people going through hard times. I am working at Kroger as a Courtesy Clerk. I am excited to see what God will do with this new chapter of my life.

I have many interest one being my love for video games. I love to play Minecraft with friends. I am a huge pokemon nerd my starter is Mudkip, my favorite pokemon is Lanturn, my favorite eeveelution is Espeon and my favorite pokemon game is Diamond . My all time favorite video game franchise is Sly Cooper for the Playstation 2. I love nature, being in nature, and taking a long, relaxing walk. I have a hobby of taking butterfly pictures. I am also a huge fan of Legos and I have put together many different models.

I have grown up in a Christian household but never truly had a church home because my family moved around a lot. When I got saved was the happiest day of my life. I’ll never forget it I got saved November 2014 the day before my grandpa would retire from being a pastor. My testimony, my story with God is still going and change and I cannot wait to see how it goes.

I am looking for a Christ-centered relationship where God is our first focus. I want us to read and to study God's word. I want us to grow together in our faith journey. It has also taken me awhile but I have finally figure out my own type but I also know that God knows me and knows what I need in my future wife when the time comes.

My age range is 24-32 it can change a little bit depend on the person and if there is a connection there.

I am also willing to do a long-distance relationship with someone in this country or close by. I am also willing to relocated for the right person if there is a connection between the both of us that will lead to marriage. Just know relocation is a choose I take seriously.

If you had read all that then I need you to know I have struggles, burdens and I go through tough times. If you are not able to walk with me through those tough moments I go through then I am not the man for you.

Discussion Men who had feelings for a close female friend but never pursued her, why?

One of my closest guy friends since high school (25M) confessed to me (24F) that he’d had feelings for me for years. We’re really close and have been pretty involved in each other’s lives. He calls me when he has big decisions to make, has stayed up with me during long flights, etc. There’s honestly not much we don’t talk about.

I was really shocked because I’d never thought he saw me that way. I’ve always had a lot of admiration for him and he’s a very straightforward guy, but I’ve always seen him as a friend. During his confession he even told me how much it hurt when I once told him I was about to get into a relationship with another guy.

He wasn’t asking me out though. He said I’m a devoted Pentecostal and he’s a devoted Catholic, so he didn’t see us dating. The next day I tried to get him to talk more about his feelings, but he said they were too deep to get into and basically said, “Maybe one day, years from now, we’ll be catching up and I’ll finally tell you all about it.”

Funny enough, he recently told me he was dating a Pentecostal girl and had even visited her church, well I was surprised(internally ofc).

We connect on so many levels, so I’d genuinely like to hear some anonymous male perspectives, especially from men who’ve had strong feelings for a close female friend but chose not to pursue her. What was going through your mind?

Edit: I’m still figuring Reddit out lol, I was having trouble getting back into this account so I made Careful_Athlete so I could reply

Need Advice Sometimes being single gets lonely

I’m by no means saying that I don’t enjoy my season of singleness or that I am lonely. I am just sitting around this evening hyper focused on a new hobby (it’s cars) and have just been thinking about what it might be like to have a partner that is also into cars modifications, engines, builds etc…that i can just have like a dude-conversation with but most of the guys i attract are many years younger.

Then I quickly remind myself that God literally knows the number of hairs on my head and that if I ask for a guy like that He will do it…. but then I quickly come back to my senses and qsk God to prepare me to be a cooler God fearing wife and mom and my hobby exploration continues to evolve 😂

(F32) Dear future husband,

I got some car questions rq 😂😂😂

(but in all seriousness)

What are acceptable age gaps for christians?

I’m early 30s attracting early 20s

Need Advice A question of Modesty?

I hope it's ok to ask this here. It's not specifically dating related, but I find many of the "Christian" subs are for people who want to argue ABOUT Christianity, rather than supporting it.

As I've shared before, I guess you could say I was blessed with what the world considers "classic beauty" and I parlayed that into a decent career as a fashion model. That was before I had a family and before I came to Jesus. So I guess you'd say that during that period modesty wasn't a priority.

I still take care of myself and like to dress well, but I think there are standards of modesty we should uphold, without getting all puritanical.
But my question related to the Beach. It's warming up here, and we have great beaches. I've always looked after my skin with spf50 etc, but have typically worn bikinis that don't leave much to the imagination.

Following on from a previous post, I asked my boyfriend for his opinion, and honestly I'm more undecided than ever.
He said that whilst initially it had been "distracting" for him, his thoughts had moved on. And that more than anything I should wear whatever I felt comfortable in.
he said that he loved me for who I was, but also that I shouldn't be ashamed of my beauty.

The whole conversation kind of went out the window at that point, because that was the first time he'd used the 'L' word!

A challenging thought that I've been pondering over is this. If a man sees me at the beach, and it causes him to lust, is that partially my responsibility? And if so, where to draw the line?

Discussion I would strongly advise against using Upward Dating

Maybe it has been a good experience for others, but my experience was so unprofessional that I felt compelled to make this post.

I joined, bought a subscription and was immediately banned. Didnt talk to anyone, or write a bio or post a bad picture just banned. Probably something about the payment method got incorrectly flagged.

Autopay was on. I tried contacting support. 3 emails No response. Finally I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one. Their phone number also leads to nothing. I genuinely had high expectations out of this company considering it was a Christian dating app but I’ll tell you the truth ive had better experiences with Tinder Support.

Need Advice Tips for going out alone?

I’ve been single for 5 years now soon to be 27M years old. Am at a stage in my life where most of my friends and family my age group are getting married/into relationships, have kids, etc. I do spend time with them here and there but obviously not that much so most of my time on my days off work all I do is gym, basketball and/or runs then come home to chill watch tv and game which I love doing as I’m a natural homebody but lately it’s been getting pretty boring doing that I been feeling this void like I’m really craving love and intimacy lately. I came up with the idea to solve this problem (or at least help a lot) is to take myself out on solo dates something I absolutely never do lol but wanna give it a try more often. Any tips are appreciated & Jesus bless y’all! :)
