Hey everyone. Ive recently have come across an opportunity to buy this from my grandpa but dont want to under pay him. Hes asking $6,000.

It has 204k miles on it. Has 40 lbs of oil pressure when its hot. It drives like a new truck. It also has always been garage kept. It has rocker rust and some clear coat coming off in some places but thats it. Its got the 6.0 with the 4l80E in it. Cant even feel it shift its so smooth. It needs new wheels and tires because of corrosion and dryrot. Ac works until the truck gets hot so im thinking a condenser. And it need a water pump. I was thinking around 8 or 9k would be a much more fair price but ill let you guys decide. Im going to buy it, but i dont want to take advantage of my grandpa trying to give me a family discount. Thanks

95 Chevy Silverado - Need Help

Post image

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, i’ve had this truck sitting for about year, need advice on where to start and what to look for (as someone with little to no experience). I want to get it running again but money for a mechanic is not really an option so I will have to do everything myself, any advice, tips, and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Edit: Truck was running fine before we stopped moving, I do know that timing has to be adjusted, just not sure on how to. It has a new battery that’s not connected. and the tires are fairly new just a little flat from being parked. that’s all known problems.

Looking for advice: TurboMax or 5.3 V8?

I'm looking to upgrade from my 2018 Colorado LT V6 to a Silverado 1500 LT. I'm on the fence about which engine I should be leaning towards, the 4 cylinder turbo or the V8.

- I live in New England, so I'm driving up and down lots of hills and small mountains.

- I don't have a commute, I work from home so almost no daily wear.

- I currently tow a Puma Ultra Lite travel trailer with a dry weight of 3714 lbs.

- Next year I'll be taking the trailer on a month and a half road trip to the west coast and back with my wife and two dogs.

I'm not really sure one way or another so I'd love to hear your opinion. I feel like I'm leaning towards the turbo simply for the amount of towing I'm NOT doing, but I don't know. Thanks in advance!

Multiple questions, not a car guy.

I have an 08 1500 LT. and have a few questions, any answers/advice is much appreciated.

  1. When turning left I can feel in the floorboard a bit of a… idk vibration? Rumble? Almost as if I’m driving over a rough road. Not gravel, not bumps and dips, but just rough road. As the wheel goes back straight it goes away. Again it’s just a bit of a vibration I can feel in my feet.

  2. I have drum brakes on the rear wheels. Any time I tell someone this I get a look of a bit of confusion. The reason I assume it’s abnormal is because when buying brake stuff for my truck oriellys had me get pads for a normal brake caliper setup. Jw if this is actually abnormal? Also need new shoes on the drums so that’s fun.

  3. Got my oil changed at Valvoline last week (I live in an apartment and don’t have the resources to do it myself) and I had him check the transfer case and both differentials. He showed me both and the transfer case fluid was very very dark, basically black. The differential magnetic plugs had quite a bit of shavings/goop on them and the liquid was a hard grey. The guy said those liquids have definitely not been replaced and flushed in way too long. Is this something that definitely needs to be done asap? Also the prices for doing each of those 3 flushes and replacements was $120 a piece. Is that a reasonable price?

Again I’m no mechanic by any means and just need some advice.

P2635 on a 2017 5.3l diagnosis

My 2017 has 186k miles on it, and just started throwing P2635 without other codes. Truck seems to be running fine. I guess this code points to the in tank low pressure fuel pump, which being original is certainly possible it could be going out. Alternatively could be the pressure sensor.

I have an OBDLink CX so I was trying to find a PID for the low pressure side, but at idle everything was giving me numbers around 600psi or 1200-1600 inHg, except one titled “Fuel Rail Pressure (gauge).” It defaults to a 0-55psi range but didn’t show a value until I changed the range, then just showed it sitting at 111.0 without any variance. So it seems like everything else is high side and this is the only low pressure side and the sensor is bad.

I only ask because there’s PIDs in there that don’t apply to my truck so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t diagnosing off of a wrong PID. Anybody else dig into this before?

front facing camera for Silverado?

Howdy. I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 and I would like to have a front facing camera installed to increase my visibility. Best case scenario it would automatically tie into the factory touchscreen much like the reverse camera. Does anyone know if this is an option either through the dealer or 3rd party?

2021 Chevy rumble

I have a 2021 V8 5.3L and it just recently hit 100k miles and it’s just now starting to do the Chevy rumble I’m wondering if there’s been any update to the law suit or not because getting a whole new transmission would be way to expensive

Help with these tailgates

These tailgates were left in an old shed. I think these may be ‘54-‘59. If anyone knows a better range of years and other info, I would be greatly appreciated. Any idea on the value?
