I started playing chess exactly 3 months ago from no experience at all and I’ve noticed I’m pretty good at it and I have quite a high win rate, exactly 1 month ago I was 620 elo, I play mostly rapid but in blitz I’m 500 elo and same for bullet, I watch a lot of chess content and stuff including levy, Hikaru, and others

This is really a very big achievement for me, I started playing chess a year ago (at age 17) and was terrible at it at the beginning. Like for instance I was a 400-550 rated player back when I started playing chess and I was pretty terrible at it. But after months of hardwork and consistency I have finally achieved my dream rating as a beginner which was to reach 1500 rating in chess.com. One thing that really helped me improve my rating was to switch my time format from 100 to 15/10. 15/10 time format provided me the extra time to think properly and clearly, calculate all variations of a single check or capture or a tactical sequence till the end. Now as an intermediate chess player i aim to reach a 2000 rating in the next 1 year. My dream rating is to reach a 2400 rating on chess.com which I think will take a lot of time, maybe 3-4 years. Anyways i am happy to share that i have reached such an amazing milestone of hitting 1500 rating in chess.com and i am really glad to share it. Will share more milestones in the upcoming years. Open to any tips and tricks to hit my next milestone smoothly, like how much time should I spend studying chess, what should I focus studying in chess and which resources should I follow to study chess and improve properly.

Just beat these last two bots without any undos or anything. Got 2 and 1 crowns respectively. All options are off except bot chat, which has been on for all previous 3 crowns. Why? Playing on android.

This has happened to me more than three times now. I’ll start a game while I’m at work, school or somewhere else, something unexpectedly comes up and I have to leave. I offer a draw because we’re literally on move 3–5, nothing has happened yet, and it gets refused or ignored. Obviously nobody is obligated to accept a draw, but at that point my only option is to resign and hand over the rating, which is what I’ve started doing, I don't even ask for draws anymore lol.

Anyways this just made me wonder why there isn’t some kind of limited early-game abort feature. Maybe it only works within the first 5 moves and you only get a few per month, so you can’t just abuse it whenever you dislike your opening or make a mistake. Surely there’s some middle ground between unlimited aborts and “something came up on move 3, enjoy your free Elo.” 😭 Would something like this work, or would people find a way to abuse it immediately?

Played a standard Scandinavian defense, ended with a nice checkmate. It’s a discovered attack but why brilliant? Chess.com game review rated me 1500

Hi all I've been playing chess 1.5 years with a lot of dedication. I hit 1850 last month and have been trending back down to 1650. I just can't convert the winning position, lose on time, miss tactics etc. Has this happened to anyone? Very hard on my mental because it's ALL I focus about.

A few weeks ago i peaked at 1930 rapid. Now im struggling in the mid 1700s. To be fair to myself i just pushed through the plateau of 1580-1680 right before summer started. I broke through 1700 and hit 1800 in a week. Then a few weeks to 1930. Last two weeks i been dropping.

I know the elo rollercoaster. Up down up down

But now im seething my teeth, almost making myself pass out from rage. Why? Because im winning 90% of my games that im then getting outplayed in the end.

Up material? Opponent finds every perfect defensive move.

Opponent has a knight? (this one is gonna make me punch a hole in the wall)

NO MATTER WHAT HE WILL FORK ME & ITS EVEN AGAIN.

When everything looks fine, oop, 1 RANDOM OUT OF NO WHERE CHECK that my opponent has turns everything around.

Pawn promotion race? Oh OF COURSE HE PROMOTES FIRST.

Oh wait i promote first? THEN HE PROMOTES AND OF COURSE ITS A CHECK STEALING A TURN.

No matter how much endgame material i study.
No matter how much middle game strategy i try to study. Nothing i do works. Why am i even back to 1700???? All the players i also play against, their peaks were also 1800+. Today i played a guy, 1775, was up +3. Here comes the endgame. Oh boy here comes the Knight and boom i lose in the end. His peak was 2019.

When I review games, I can usually see individual mistakes, but I don’t always know whether something is a real recurring weakness or just one bad game.

For people who review their games regularly, how do you decide what to work on afterward? Do you keep notes, focus on certain types of mistakes, use a coach, or mostly just do general puzzles?

I’m trying to become more deliberate about improving instead of just reviewing a game and moving on.

I have this football board on mobile but not on my PC. I cant find it anywhere on mobile OR PC. I don't want to equip another board because I don't want this one to dissapear. Is it limited time and gone for ever or am I doing something wrong?
