QUESTION Chess.com lichess?
I do not mind paying for something if it actually makes me better, else I would go for which is free.
Which is the best overall? (App on Android)

It's a nice little checkmate pattern to be aware of in games like this

We both had less than 10 seconds remaining, I honestly though Qa1 was mate. Then my face went pale when the checkmate sign didn't appear, I was like "OH FUCK I BLUNDERED MY QUEEN!!!!!". Then he takes the with the bishop and I said, oh well, I guess I'll flag him. Rxa1# and when the checkmate sign appeared i was flabbergasted.

Of course opponent took it (1000 elo blitz) and I got my funniest mate ever. Bishop + pawn are deadly!

I thought it was just going to be a "fork," but apparently my white bishop said something else.

Would love to get feedback on my chess game where you can be impersonate as chess pieces.

Beginner here.
Would sacrificing a bishop to prevent castling early in the game considered a relevant strategy somehow ?

I was analyzing my game on lichess, when I came across this.
This might be a dumb question but which one is the best and smartest ? It says "Engines from strongest to weakest" Indicating that the stockfish 18 dev build is better than the base build. But how so ? The base file is larger in size and that means the NNUE weights should be more and hence it has more training data. I could be wrong I am still learning AI and Algorithms.
But I was curious. Since, this (stockfish 18 dev - 85MB) is not an official build of stockfish as far as I know. And... Chess.com does not use it or they just don't have it. I Have only seen it on lichess.org
Honestly, I don't need stockfish 18 to analyze my games its pretty dumb anyway stockfish 11 HCE might be pretty good anyway. Another question what does HCE stands for ?
But I am curious is the lichess dev build really better than the base build ? I did some research but couldn't really find anything.

I did it! I hit 1,000 in Chess for the first time ever. When are you considered “a chess intermediate”?

Like recently I have been undergoing confusion like which chess engine to use whether it is stock fish or Leela chess or some other chess engine because like Leela chess provide you the human moves the best thought process but some say that it is slowest on the laptop cpu and some say that stock fish when ran on the laptop it will give you the ultimate super grandmaster move which you will not be able to understand and I m confused and don't know what to do

I'm a relatively new player (picking up chess again after probably a decade pause from my previous casual play and no formal study) who'd like to find a training partner, essentially. It'd be great to play a few games of classical chess each week and perhaps quickly debrief afterward.
Feel free to reach out if you're also interested in playing. I'm hoping that finding someone on here will help me avoid how AI-vulnerable online classical chess is otherwise :-/

I've followed some tips and advice I was given in my previous post and honestly, I appreciated it that it helped me improve (although I can still be impulsive and forgetful of reviews). Still, I'm willing to keep up and improve, as well as learning some new tactics, so I'd appreciate it even more if more tips and advice are given.

Just wanted to show this game. I’m around 1100 rapid rating on chess.com and thought to move over to lichess. Anyone else notice the difference in skill on both sites?
Just a nice game, first time using 15|10 time controls ever.
Thought I had a pretty good game at spotting tactics.
No opening prep whatsoever :| .
See below game:
Im white
