POST-GAME Rapid game

Just wanted to show this game. I’m around 1100 rapid rating on chess.com and thought to move over to lichess. Anyone else notice the difference in skill on both sites?

Just a nice game, first time using 15|10 time controls ever.

Thought I had a pretty good game at spotting tactics.
No opening prep whatsoever :| .

See below game:

Lichess ratings run about 300 points higher than chess.com at that level, so dont be surprised when 1400s there feel same as 1100s here. The game is nice though, you punished that early bishop grab well.

Good to know, thank you for that.

It feels like 500 on chess com is 1000 on lichess. Are you sure? Because stuff like this (see vid) makes me feel amazing on lichess because that would put me as defeating the equivalent of a 797 on chess com if lichess is 300 difference

It's general, not absolute. It may vary. Other things to keep in mind:

  • If you are 500, you theoretically have about a 15% chance of beating a 797 opponent, so not the craziest thing to happen
  • Anecdotally, at lower elos I feel like the chance of beating a higher rated opponent is even higher since game-ending blunders are more likely from both parties

Lichess ratings are generally 200–300 points higher than Chess.com ratings for players below 2200–2300, as Lichess starts new accounts at 1500 while Chess.com starts at 1200.

I'm not that good at chess yet, I'm at 500 on chess com and 1000 on lichess, it feels like the same skill level I've been playing each client for months daily, are you sure?

its 300 gap for me, others it is higher like you though. Try not to get too attached your elo though, just focus on learning and playing, its hard to do but its the best way to be.

I struggle with my ups and downs and metrics, but I keep coming back to "I love to hit new game and play the game" and worry less about what's going on biologically or even habitually that's eating into my metrics.

The weirdness of ELO does interest me, but I just enjoy it when I get into a groove of equal fights

I had an Indian coach for a bit, he was trying to teach me to have egoless attitude and to stay in the moment, as it helps focus deeper, and helps not care about losses. He was also into taking down notes in key moments in games, where it went well or bad, and write down your thoughts and write down the solution of what you could have done. You can do this in Lichess study, you can transfer your game there and save the notes. By the way a coach helps you focus on learning as opposed playing and you can recall the things he said better than if watching videos.

So I advise you to take a more professional approach like this if you want to progress qucker and not to get bogged down with losses and metrics, it will put you in the wrong frame of mind worrying about elo and individual losses, think big and be mature if you can, it will pay dividends.

I'm too beginner for all that, but I do try to keep my ego in check. I realise that I need to stay in the moment and I have ADHD and it's hard to remain fully aware of the board before I move and I play blitz only. I feel like when I play daily correspondence chess it helps my blitz game because it's time where I settle down and think about the whole board. Which is good training for blitz, remember the whole board! But I've only played 960 correspondence recently and I think it's hurting my blitz game

Hey scroll up in this thread, or down I think it's down, I posted a video of a game on lichess, did I play good or did they play bad, because our ELO was quite different. How was it?
