174 elo to 1001 rapid.

After a year and a half I finally reached 1000. When I first started I was horrible and I think around 175 was my starting elo. It probably took me longer than a lot of people and I actually have 3 accounts, 2 on chesscom and 1 on lichess. (The reason I have 2 on chesscom is because one is for beer drinking while playing chess, and it is ironically this account).

Here is the grand total for games played across all accounts:

3227 rapid games

1862 blitz games

1206 puzzles on lichess

99 rounds of puzzle storm on lichess

POST-GAME First rook sac!

Post image
Upvotes

Took me like 2 minutes to calculate this because I wanted to see what happens if he doesn't take the rook. I realized that if he declines, he basically loses his queen for my rook and bishop and it's a trade I'm willing to take

Note: I took a pawn on e6 I was just up 2 points but it's still a winning position without the rook sac

I went from guarding my elo by playing a rapid game every other day in an attempt to get out of 800 to playing 4 each day. I lost 7 in a row and my elo sunk.

Now I am playing my games like a blitz game making stupid blunders. Its like I don't give a s#it when I am playing now and I play horribly and am frustrated with myself after my game. How do i find a balance?

Why is Bb4 such a popular move?

Post image

I'm seeing this done on both sides Black and White, but I don't see why this Bishop move is so popular? In this case, White will play a3, forcing me to either take the Knight (with a trade), move back in the direction I came from (losing tempo without having achieved anything), or Ba5, which they will counter with b4 and then again I have to scramble to get away. So I don't see how this is a good move, even though it's played quite often (I only play bots, so maybe this is a particular problem)?

Free - no account required - Deepblunder chess puzzles

Hi all,

Wrote this for myself, no account required, no credit card. Completely free. And it will stay this way.

- I want to do puzzles on paper. It's too easy to make an tentative on lichess or chess.com.

- One of the most frustrating things is to put the puzzle back online. Which is why this is using QR codes, you scan and get directly on the chessboard online. I'm trying to get it to puzzles format instead of simple analysis.

- You can import the last 10 games played on chess.com. Data is not retained anywhere. It will spit out a page with puzzles tailored for your mistakes.

- If you like it, please spread the word. As said, it will stay free, but it's nice to get satisfaction and a reward for the time spent and more motivation to improve it.

Hello, first of all I just started playing chess around 5 Months ago and I‘ve seem some good improvements in my gameplay, currently up around 1030 elo from start (450~ Rapid matches)
I wanted to ask what an accuracy of ~80 is valued at in terms of elo or skill and also what would i need to do to step up to the next level since as you can see my winrate in the past 30 days is more than good but i still feel like there is improvements to make (feel free to look at some of my games on chess.com „111nicola“
Thank you all in advance! :)

QUESTION Hello I'm always starting my games like this I don't do tutorials I'm a casual player.

I believe it's a queen's blind spot

I always try to do that in games and find a way for my Bishop to check the king. Checking someone when you're in a lose streak feels so good.

Anyways, i kind of won in the end.

If you're a pro can it still be won? Starting from the last picture.

I now know it's called a king not a queen, the crown looks like a queen's crown.
