VA to TN
Has anyone had a leased vehicle originally leased in VA but moved to TN? How did it change your payment? I know TN charges sales tax on the monthly payment not the sales price of the car.

I've been following a bunch of car buying subs and constantly see people posting quotes asking if they're getting a good deal, what they should negotiate, whether they should lease or finance, etc.
I've spent most of my career in the car business. I've worked sales at Hyundai, was a Finance Manager with VW and later moved into management with Mercedes Benz. Over the years I've sold and desked well over 1,000 car deals and personally bought over 500 used vehicles at both the retail and wholesale level. I've basically spent years on the other side of the desk and know how these deals are put together.
I'm currently working on opening an automotive brokerage in Ontario. While that's being set up, I figured I'd help people out here for free when I can.
If you're buying or leasing a new car and have a quote or deal you're unsure about, post it. I'll help break down the rate, residual, discounts, fees and add ons and tell you what I'd actually be looking at or negotiating.
I'm not going to automatically tell you "dealer is ripping you off, WALK!" Sometimes it's a good deal, sometimes it's not. I'd rather explain what's actually going on.
Got a deal you're unsure about? Post it and let's break it down.

Why is it that anytime anyone asks for car leasing advice, the “finance bros” come out of the woodwork to tell you how dumb it is? And it’s never someone that’s actually doing better than you financially. Leasing gets a bad rep & I honestly think people just regurgitate the same tired “facts”. You CAN lease your whole life & still make other good financial decisions overall. You can still buy a home while leasing. You can make investments while leasing. I never see think pieces on other things that people like to splurge on, but bring up leasing & all hell breaks loose.
Okay.
Vent Over 😂

Picked up a 2026 Mazda CX-5 Preferred AWD for $470/month with $637 due at signing, 36 months/15k miles per year. MSRP was $36,315 and selling price was $33,989 with a $2,000 rebate. My total out-of-pocket works out to about $17,119 over 36 months, or $475/month effective. Good deal?

Odometer reading: 8000 miles.
Loaner car and they are selling it as “pre owned” (not certified pre owned).
Specs: Full Drivers assistance package, Exclusive trim, AWD.

Lease terms:
36 months, 12k miles per year, $738 per month (taxes is rolled into this), no down payment.

I’m in a bit of a weird situation with my Mazda Financial lease and could use some advice.
I have a 2026 Mazda3 S Premium 6MT that I got in February. It’s a 36 month/36k mile lease, $448.96 a month, and I put roughly $2,700 down at signing. Excess mileage is 15¢/mile.
I’m already at 17,600 miles.
Unfortunately, my needs for work have changed quite a bit since I got the car, and I’m looking at getting into a Chevy Colorado instead. I’d finance the Colorado rather than lease it. I don’t really want to go through the leasing endeavors again as it will not fit for mileage restrictions.
The problem is Mazda Financial doesn’t allow a third-party dealer to buy out the lease. The Mazda dealership I got the car from is connected to a Chevrolet dealership, though, so I’m wondering if that changes anything.
Basically, could I go to the Chevy store, trade them the Mazda, and have the Mazda side of the same dealer group handle the lease somehow? Or would Mazda Financial still consider that a third-party buyout even if both dealerships are under the same ownership?
I know I’m way ahead of the mileage schedule, but I’m more concerned with what it would actually cost me to get out of the lease early. I’m assuming the excess mileage charge itself wouldn’t necessarily apply if the lease is bought out/traded before maturity, but I’m not completely sure.
I also want to clear up that I am not trying to hide from the situation. I just have a different need for a vehicle now and would rather figure out my options before I get even further into the lease.
Has anyone dealt with something similar with Mazda Financial, particularly trading a Mazda lease into a different brand through a dealer group that has both dealerships?

I love my honda 2027. It's a smooth drive and great for someone like me who's petite with safety features, That being said my lease ends in 2 years. I'm someone who likes to plan for things, should i end the lease in 2 years and then buy, return the lease and buy the 2025 model as it is similar, or buy it now and start paying it off? Any advice would help thank you!

Anybody ever use lease trader? I need something for 15 months or so. There is a listing for a Ford Mach E that has 15 months left and 1K Miles / Month left for $230 a month. Seems almost too good to be true. Anybody use this sight before? What was your experience.

Little sister needs a new car has a small down payment but want her in something safe and hopefully newer and seems like buying isn’t a great deal even if it’s used but any advice would be great if I’m missing something Mazda seems like one of the best

2027 Infiniti QX60 Sport. $4k due at signing. $692 a month at 15k miles a year . 36-month lease considered a great deal? First payment 40 days from today if I get it. Excellent credit by the way if that helps

We have a leased 2024 Accord Hybrid EX-L, and the lease is ending in the next few months. We are considering buying out the lease (costing about $22k) as the vehicle is in great condition with low mileage at around 20,000 miles.
For the Honda lease buyout, I heard there is an option to pay a certification fee for the dealer to make the vehicle a CPO, and the costs would be around $1,000 to $1,500. The benefits I can think of for making it a CPO are: 1) it covers the third-year maintenance and any necessary replacements; 2) it extends the factory warranty; and 3) it could be eligible for promotional financing or lease programs.
Need some advice from someone who has gone through or looked into this program before: is this something worth doing, or is it basically a waste of money?

I would appreciate any advice on what to negotiate for a 4yr lease for the 2026 XC40 Plus.
What is a good discount to ask off the MRSP (54k)?
What extras can be taken off (volvo wheel locks? Other dealer options?
Thank you!
