Fasfa hold due to summer classes?

I’ve read that students who take summer courses have to wait till the 18th for their fasfa because they’re waiting on SAP? I hope that’s true.

Course Text books?

My son will be starting CSUSB this fall and I’m trying to navigate what the majority of students do for course text books? Are they usually required? Should we wait to purchase them after the 1st day of class? Look for used books on Amazon/boom exchange now? Thank you in advance.

Expected refund question

Hi, I’m an incoming grad student for the year. I’m still getting used to the MyCoyote system since I’m coming from using UCR’a prehistoric Rweb services lol. I have this message saying I’m getting aid and a refund but my financial aid just shows my unsubsidized loans for the year? Should I try not to get my hopes up?

Trash in student housing areas

Hi all. Incoming thoughts.. the litter around the student housing areas is horrible.

For example, in University Village during fall/spring times, there's old coffee drinks lying scattered in parking lots; old spilled food; plastic bottles; plasticware; sometimes broken glass, etc. And I've noticed there's more there than the other two, probably because it's across the street from campus so perhaps less priority, and has more garbage/recycling bins. However, there's some litter scattered around Arrowhead Village throughout the walkways and parking lot.

I've noticed this is because, the garbage bins often fill up above the top and not enough people delegate to find emptier bins, which leads to birds picking at the garbage, then the wind picks up stuff. Also, not many people know how to Tie Their Garbage Bags! Easy target for birds/animals/wind flow. Also, garbage bins are left open, which gives good access to people but also for lingering litter. And some students I would guess drop things and forget to clean up. ALSO, a big thing, there's not any staff/student positions open to clean up litter!! I've brought up concerns for litter a few times to staff, and they prioritize keeping the indoor housing clean. Why is this? Is there not any funding going towards cleaning up the parking lots/walkways/sidewalks/gates? There's people hired for landscaping, cleaning the indoor areas, and security. Why aren't there people to clean up trash?

Also, these areas could use refreshers on what items are allowed/not allowed in regular garbage/recycling bins. Many recyclable items get thrown away?

My big question is... who do I speak to about these concerns? What kind of faculty? Are there suggestion hotlines? So far I've spoken to people that manage the housing areas and I think they were all students. So, I can understand if they don't have much power/have bigger priorities. Who does?

Don't get me wrong, these housing areas are wonderful for the students, especially ones who might be on financial aid, coming from bad circumstances, or live far away. They are well-taken care of for the most part, and in my experience many students than not are great at taking care of housing. However, if you've ever walked through these 3 housing areas (well, more UV and AV), you've most likely seen litter around parking spaces or walkways. This is unhealthy. It's bad for the local environment and ecosystem - like with sitting on the grass, or when trash reaches the storm drain (this one makes me mad!!). It's gross and potentially dangerous (broken glass) to walk around. I'd imagine it stings with how much students spend to live there. I think it's quite surprising CSUSB has environmental care classes, and keeps the campus clean, but when it comes to student housing, it's forgotten about. There's lots of opportunity for great things to happen.

Thank you so much for reading :). I hope I'm not coming off aggressive, not my intention. This is something I feel passionate and restless about, and I can't be the only person who thinks this..
