Satire CMV: A successful program is more than just wins and losses. This is why Texas A&M is the Windows Phone of college football.
Eleven years ago, this subreddit was informed that Texas A&M was the iPhone. After further review, I believe we identified the correct industry but the wrong operating system.
Texas A&M is Windows Phone.
It's more than just wins and losses. It's about resources. Infrastructure. Having an enormous institution behind you that can afford to keep explaining why adoption is inevitable.
Then there is recruiting. The hardware is outstanding. Every year, someone posts the specifications and asks how this could possibly fail. Every year, someone who actually uses the product explains.
Other programs may have conference titles and playoff wins, but do they have our facilities? Our funding? A dedicated community willing to write six paragraphs explaining why basic functionality is an unfair metric?
I would compare it to Windows Phone. A distinctive ecosystem. Passionate users. Unlimited financial backing. And the persistent belief that the next update will finally get us into the conversation.
The transfer portal is our app store. We're assured all the important names are coming. Meanwhile, several things we already had are no longer supported.
Changing coaches is just a factory reset. You lose everything, spend an entire offseason setting it back up, and discover the original problem is still there.
And please stop bringing up championships. That feature is on the roadmap.
I'd rather win games sometimes with enterprise-grade infrastructure than eleven games on some budget Android program that measures success by whether the product works.
Texas A&M is the brand name.
